From the "how the hell did this slip through the cracks" File

Ever run across a fiction that you wonder how you missed it to begin with?
I just spent the last two and a half hours immersed in an amazing fiction that up until 4 hours ago I had never even heard of. Now, I certainly do not consider myself an aficionado on all things fanfic, especially since I have only been reading it for a little over 9 months. BUT I do know what good fiction looks like and this definitely is. So, you are asking, what owned my ass this afternoon??

Thicker than Water by twistedcoincidence

Author’s summary: Sisters have a special bond, stronger than friendship, more sacred than a significant other. Bella has always been the perfect big sister, then again, her sister has never possessed something so appealing.

The summary is good but doesn’t tell half the story. Bella was the daughter who stayed home, close to friends, close to family, never stepping outside the security of what was comfortable. She stuck to what was familiar and safe, even while knowing her life was in a rut. Her younger sister Emma had a glamorous career in Chicago, far from the quit life she had grown up with outside of Seattle. The girls talk daily, with Bella living vicariously through her sister.
Then Emma starts talking about a new boyfriend, just one more in a long and endless line of them, so Bella thought. And yet, there seems to be something different about Edward. He is not Emma’s type. As a matter of fact, even Emma is ready to admit he is more like Bella. And perhaps that is part of the attraction—he reminds her of the older sister she loves and misses.
I do not want to give away the rest of the story ,as that is really the true joy in reading this fiction. Twistedcoincidence does a wonderful job of capturing the intricate family dynamics between sisters and the struggle that occurs when we want the one thing in life we know we can never have. Sometimes, though, fate plays into our hand for a change.

I can't thank Momoffour Luvntwisaga enough for rec'ing this marvelous fic on the FB group. Take the time to give this a read, I know you will not regret it! Tell her that The Lemonade Stand and busymommy sent you!
