Awkwardly Yours by Vancouver-Canuck-Girl
High school Edward likes a girl named Bella, But he's not a smooth-talking kind of fella. He has his fair share of inserting foot into mouth, And inappropriate risings down south. But he's really kind of sweet, Even if he's sort of a geek. Rated M

Reviewed by: Fanfic Maplestyle

I first had the esteemed pleasure of reading something by Vancouver Canuck Girl when she was rec’d back in July of 2012 for The Real Life of E.A. Masen. Like the bad reviewer I am when it comes to stories already being posted, I read all sixteen posted chapters before leaving just one little line, where the story was rec’d and how much I loved it so far. That sparked a friendship that has spanned across two one shots and a multi-chapter story that made me laugh, cry, want to slap Edward in the face and sometimes Bella too.

Back in March she approached me while I was doing a re-read of E.A. Masen with a question that would eventually take me on an incredible journey, one I’d never taken before, that of a pre-reader, It was for a story she was working on tentatively called F*ck My Life that centers around an incredibly awkward teenage Edward, who finds himself in all sorts of trouble due to both his awkwardness and his lack of filter.

She put this boy through everything. From his parents thinking he was gay:

My mom grinned. "Aww! You have a crush on Isabella?"

"I do not. She's not my type."

"What is your type – Mike Newton?"

"Yeah, Jazz, Newton's totally my type." I spoke with a lisp to make my point. It's called sarcasm and I'm quite fluent in it.

Sparking a hilarious conversation regarding his love life, with either a man or a woman:

Mom shook her head. "So, do you actually have feelings for Bella?"

"I don't think she's my type."

"What is your type?"

Right then, I should have been honest and told them, hell yes, she's totally my type. Instead I remained tight-lipped, and simply shrugged.

"Your mom and I want you to know that whatever you decide in life, we will support you. If you were perhaps interested in say….men, we'd still love you."

I was completely oblivious to what he was insinuating.

"Great, thanks, I can go now? Wait a sec, did you say … ewww! No! I'm not interested in men!"

My mom patted my hand. "It's okay, Edward, if you are."

"I'm not!"

"We've always known you were … different … from your brother."

"Different? Yeah we're different. We have different fathers! That's not what you're talking about though, is it?"

They both shrugged as I asked.

"I'm no different than Jasper! I like boobs, and porn and all that stuff. When I jerk off— never mind." I scrubbed my hands over my embarrassed face. Even though I'd pretty much just bared my most intimate thoughts, my parents still didn't look convinced.

"Listen, I may not be having sex all the time like Jasper, but I want to, okay? With a girl." I thought it was really important to clarify that point.

This of course gets him in trouble with his brother:

Jasper knocked on my door a while later. As soon as I let him in, he tackled me to the ground.

"Get off me!"

"Eat shit and die, Edward. Why'd you tell Mom and Dad that Alice and I were having sex?"

"Well, you are, aren't you?"

"No, we're not."

I managed to push him off me and stood up. "Yeah, right, you're not having sex. I'm not stupid." I rolled my eyes. "You told me in the car you don't jerk off anymore."

"I have Alice to do it for me, idiot. There's a lot of other fun things to do besides fucking, baby bro. One day, you'll understand." He patted my head all condescending like as he went to leave then stopped in the doorway.

"I'm supposed to ask you – brother to brother – if you're gay. Mom and Dad think you'll tell me honestly."

"Are you kidding me? No! Hell no! I'm not gay! I don't like dick. I like Bella, okay? I've jerked off to pictures of her in my head the last three nights."

Jasper held his hand up. "Need to know basis. God, that's disgusting. Do you not have a filter?"

The answer to that question is no, Jasper, he does not have a filter!

Vancouver Canuck Girl certainly puts this Edward through the wringer as you can tell from the above examples, and those are only in the first chapter of the story. She also has him caught masturbating by his mother, buying tampons for his sister by his crush, really awkward sex talks with his father and probably the funniest virginity loosing scenes I have ever read, all the while telling a really sweet love story at the same time. One that proves that you only have to be yourself and there is someone out there that loves you for you.

Each chapter is wrapped up by a poem that Edward writes in his journal about his day:

Tonight I got caught jerking off

All because I didn't hear my mother knock.

So put away your beverages to save your computers and have a laugh at one of the most awkward and adorable Edward’s I have ever read in Awkwardly Yours. Vancouver Canuck Girl can bring the funny like nobody’s business and as much as I am honoured to know her as a writer, I am more honoured to be able to call her a friend.

Rescission by Geekchic12
We met. We got off. We went home. We weren't lovers. We weren't even friends. We were f- buddies. It worked... Until it didn't. AH, ExB. Rated M

Review by: Lellabeth

Rescission, n. (law): an act of rescinding; the cancelling of a contract.

Between the promise of dirty in the summary, the intrigue behind the title and the unf-worthy banner (Pierced-eyebrow-Ward?!), Rescission was a fic I couldn’t wait to read. I had visions of a dirty, sexy story about a Bella and Edward that barely knew each other outside of the bedroom.

GeekChic12 gave us that.

We’re thrown in to the story at possibly the funniest scene possible - one where Edward and Bella meet not as fuck buddies, but because they’ve been set up on a blind date that also includes his sister and brother-in-law.

Awkward.

We’re gifted with small snippets of their relationship over the first chapter, though not enough that all is revealed. The dynamic between Edward and Bella is undeniably strange - they know practically nothing about each other, but there’s something between them.

That something turns out to be sex.

Very hot sex.

As the story progresses, we learn more about how their ‘relationship’ came about, and watch as they both struggle to come to terms with their growing feelings for one another. Each chapter ends with a reminder of one of the rules of their original arrangement - and a nod to how it’s been broken.

In this case, though, the saying ‘good things fall apart so better things can fall together’ definitely applies.

Edward is the perfect blend of sexy, self-assured man and a vulnerable guy with a tender heart. He’s just the right side of arrogant, edging on cocky, and it’s impossible not to love him for it. Bella is similarly complex, and therein lies what makes the story so great. Bella and Edward aren’t just characters.

They’re people.

Good-looking people who are outrageously good in bed, of course, but it’s fanfic - that’s a given.

Rescission is the perfect blend of realistic writing and enough romance to keep us all swooning. GeekChic12 balances funny with drama, sex with serious, and her writing and deep understanding of these characters is what makes the story so good.

You might have missed the boat on reading it as a WIP, but in the words of Sex Hair/Pierced Eyebrow/Can I just have him-Ward, ‘It’s okay. You’re here now.’

And you’re in for one hell of a ride.

Nine Months-A Cullen Legacy Short Story by Pattyrose

Former Congressman Edward Cullen has finally overcome the forces that tried to keep him away from Bella and their daughter, Elizabeth, and the three have settled into a life together. But when Bella becomes pregnant again, how will Edward deal with nine months of expectation, combined with a new campaign run? A short story based on The Cullen Legacy. Daily updates. Rated M.

Review by: Cared

This story came about for two main reasons: the readers of The Cullen Legacy know a good thing when they discover it and are not above begging for more, and Pattyrose is a self-confessed wordy beeyotch. (Love you Patty!)

In the fantastically successful full-length story The Cullen Legacy, Edward was not with Bella through her first pregnancy with their daughter Elizabeth, therefore his experience of Bella’s second pregnancy, is the story wished for most by TCL readers.  Whether this is because of Edward being one of the most politically powerful men in the world, who understood that his family should be and is the most important thing in his world, thereby making him an amazing Daddyward, or because Edward missed out the first time around, readers wanted to see it through his eyes. Thankfully for us, this adorable Edward had quite a bit to say in his own unique and entertaining way,and the planned one-shot became a delightful short story of 11 chapters; one chapter per pregnancy month…I know what you are thinking here but please see above mention of wordy beeyotch. J Nine Months – TCLSS can be read as a stand-alone story if you are one of the ten people alive who haven’t had the pleasure of TCL. Honestly though, if you have ever been pregnant or shared the experience with someone, witnessed an expectant father, have a sense of humour, or love a good story…this one is for you.

I present you with nine of the myriad of reasons why I enjoyed this story and am confident you will too.

1. The chapter titles are an entertaining read in their ownright. For example:

Month 2: (JULY) - EXHAUSTION, MOOD SWINGS, STILL-FLAT STOMACHS AND…THE END OF SEX

Month 3: (AUGUST) – MORNING SICKNESS CONTINUES, STILL NO SEX, PERFECTLY SWOLLEN BREASTS THAT CAN'T BE TOUCHED, AND…HOW MANY HEARTBEATS?

MONTH 5: (OCTOBER) –ANNOUNCING IT TO THE WORLD, RAGING HORMONES, SWOLLEN ANKLES AND HEARTBURN, FINDING OUT THE SEXES AND VAGINAL DISCHARGE THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ME BECAUSE ACTUAL SEX IS A LONG AGO MEMORY.

Does anyone else notice Edward’s ever so slight fixation on the absence of sex?

~~~~~~~~~~~~
2. Famous last words from delusional Edward:
“Yeah, other than a little bit of morning sickness, these next few months are bound to be grand.”
Don’t worry ladies, he learns – the hard way!
~~~~~~~~~~~~

3. Edward’s attitude to sex…or more accurately - the lack of it!

“So I'm just standing here, being useless.

And horny.”

Let’s just say it’s a good thing the colour blue suits him. *Snicker*

~~~~~~~~~~~~
4. Jealousward is hot!
While perhaps it’s not an ideal quality to possess, and Edward understands that, I can’t help my body’s immediate reaction to a jealous, possessive Edward. *Shrugs*
“My nostrils flare. I'm about to walk over to them and…and…
And what? I don't even know what I'm going to do. Jesus, I'm being an asshole, I know I am. But acknowledging that you're being ridiculous and actually changing it are two very different things.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~

5. A fabulous, strong Bella, with the patience of a saint and a quirky sense of humour…

“She snorts wryly. "My feet have grown about half a size, my ankles as well; I look like I'm carrying a small army in my stomach even though each one of these babies only weighs about a pound and a half. I can no longer see me fanny well enough to groom it properly. My breasts weigh about a stone each, my nipples are darker than my pubes…"”

*Mother of four here Bella – you are preaching to the choir gf.*

~~~~~~~~~~~~
6. Words of wisdom from a most unusual character, and a wonderful mother, Renee…
“"Oh, Love, we all handle grief and loss in different ways. We can either let it consume us, or embrace what we still have left. But if you give people a chance – a couple of them if it's required – one of these days,they may surprise you."”
~~~~~~~~~~~~

7. Things never to say to a pregnant woman…

When Edward gets it right…

“In the past couple of weeks, Bella's belly has…popped out a bit to say the least. I haven't mentioned it because though I may not know much about how to handle this entire pregnancy situation, I'm a man. I know enough not to mention obvious weight gain in any way, shape or form, even if the book hadn't advised against it.”

Can we get an Amen?

And when he gets it wrong…

Too numerous to mention as it’s every single time he mentions that bloody book! (See Below)

~~~~~~~~~~~~
8. OME, the book!
Edward is nothing if not thorough, LOL and getstotally carried away by takes a great interest in learning from one of those ‘what to expect in pregnancy’ books. Mmmh, how do I put this politely…he likes to share his newfound expertise with Bella…
"The book says any unnecessary stress should be greatly avoided."
"Edward, I'm performing research in Brooklyn, not interviewing insurgents in the Middle East!"
"I know that, but the book says you need to rest as much as-"
"Ugh! I don't need to be carried!" she huffs, pressing her palm against my chest and pushing me back so she can stand on her own."And I am not rescheduling the piece! I am not under any stress unless you count having to deal with you and that bloody book!"
I wondered in my review of the first chapter just how much time (and advice) would pass, before Bella wanted to grab a hold of Edward and shove the book somewhere the sun doesn’t shine. I didn’t have to wonder for long, js. ;)
~~~~~~~~~~~~

9. And last but not least - the exciting ending…

It made me laugh; it made me cheer; it made me cry. Perfect!

P.S. Please send your copy of  ‘the book’ to Bella for her planned book burning. Only joking!

Dog Star by Spanglemaker9
One choice is made and everything changes. Paths diverge, lead astray, and still lead home. AU. Rated M

Reviewed by: JedigirlSC

Spanglemaker9 has written some great angsty AH romances, but now we get to read her first AU.

Edward is SO TIRED of being alone and around happily mated couples.

Dogstar is like canon Twilight, but in this story,  Edward leaves Forks after the first day of Biology. Terrified and ashamed of what he wanted to do to Bella and her classmates, he goes to Alaska and stays there for three years. With Tanya.  The Cullens all go their separate ways.  It feels like their family has imploded.

But don’t panic, because this is an Edward/Bella story!

But why? How could he?  The thought of Edward and Bella being separated for so long seems too sad to read about.

BUT….

Edward’s leaving changes the course of canon events.

Bella didn’t ask Jacob to tell her scary stories to learn about vampires and wolves and did not get romantically attached to Jacob after Edward broke up with her.

There was no vampire baseball game to attract James, Victoria, and Laurent.

Victoria did not create a vampire army to avenge her mate.

Riley was not changed.

*RILEY WAS NOT CHANGED.*

Three years later at college, Bella meets Riley and they develop a serious relationship.

Bella decides to major in Literature.

After three years with Tanya, Edward knows he has to stop “settling” with Tanya  and needs to move on.  He and Tanya decide to go on vacation separately, and Edward goes to visit Alice and Jasper. Alice cheerfully persuades Edward to major in Literature with her, since they have never majored in that before.

Edward and Alice see Bella in class, and they develop a cautious friendship with her and they become study partners.  Riley picks up Bella one time and immediately notices Edward and Alice’s unusual appearance and feels threatened by Edward.

We are familiar with Alice knowing the future, but this story  illustrates how Alice sees the future unfolding:

Minor (visions) involving those she was closest to came through as sharp as a film, and just as precise. …. They were like photographs.

The others—the hints and future possibilities—were like underdeveloped Polaroids, with washed out color and obscured details. No amount of squinting would bring them into focus until they were ready.

It was like putting together a complicated puzzle of the sky, every piece nothing but blue, with no clues to tell you how they were supposed to fit together.

The story has beautiful writing and has twists and turns that are different from canon.  You get the feeling that it’s leading up to some big events and dangerous collisions the whole way through.

It’s now complete, and lucky for you, because the story hooks you and makes you drop everything.

I really love the story  and anyone who loves AU and Spanglemaker9 stories needs to check this out!

Review by: Midnight Cougar

I am thrilled to bring you this review today in celebration of my dear friend Chocaholic123’s win of Fic of the Week for her enthralling and insightful 1960’s story California Dreamin’.

How it all began was, I saw this swoonworthy manip in a Facebook group…

*made by Evenstar*

…and I thought what an excellent inspirational picture it would make for an Edward and Bella Twific, in the hands of the right person.  So, I sent it off to Choc, knowing how creative she is – from reading her other stories – and the rest, as they say, is history. And in this case, literally history, as Chocaholic123 took one look at gorgeous, sexy, black and white Edward atop that old car, the sixties swirled in her mind, The Beatles and The Mamas & the Papas – to name a few – played in her head, and because her creativity and writing talent know no bounds, she started to research and write, then to our great pleasure, California Dreamin’ was born.

This very original fic is set in 1967 and incorporates many pertinent references: the mood, settings, clothing, paraphernalia, and psychedelic music…which all depict “The Sixties” era – the “cultural decade” known for sex, drugs, freedom, irresponsible excess, flamboyance and, of course, San Francisco.

The story begins in Wentworth, California, where we meet “good girl” Bella Swan and her “queen of politics at Wentworth High” best friend, Angela. They spend the day at the beach, dreaming about their future, as they’ve just graduated from high school. They are both off to college in the fall, but before that, Angela and Bella make a plan to escape the confines of Wentworth and travel to the big city of San Francisco for the adventure of a lifetime.

*excerpt from chapter 1*

A station wagon slowly drove down Maple, swinging into the driveway opposite Angela’s house. We watched as Mrs. Black unloaded her three children, shooing them up the driveway and shouting at the dog as he refused to leave the trunk of the car.

“I’m going to San Francisco next week.” Angela confided as the eldest son turned around and stuck his tongue out at us.

“What? Why?” And the unspoken sentence; can I come?

“One of Martin Luther King’s staff is coming to make a speech. I missed his visit in January; I’m sure as hell not going to miss this.” Angela was the queen of politics at Wentworth High, and I was her willing aide. Together we’d arranged demonstrations, written banned articles and—our pièce de résistance—orchestrated a sit-in against the Vietnam War that lasted four days. The Principal hadn’t been pleased. “Plus, I seriously want to see the hippies in Haight-Ashbury; it’s social history in the making. Are you coming?”

“My dad will never let me go.” I picked at the rust on the arm of the chair, letting the flakes fall to the ground.

“So, don’t ask him. Tell him you’re sleeping over with me. My mom will back us up.” Mrs. Weber was what my dad called “permissive.” It wasn’t a compliment.

Rolling my bottom lip between my teeth, I scanned through my options. I could stay here while Angela went and had all the fun, getting to experience the excitement that was San Francisco. Or I could go with her, throw myself into the experience, and come back with a story I could tell my grandchildren one day.

For most people that wasn’t much of a choice. But I was a good girl—always maintaining decent grades, always home before curfew. I was afraid of authority; particularly fearful of my dad, and this made me procrastinate for longer than I should.

“Okay, I’ll go.” My stomach lurched at the thought.

“Really?” Angela was as surprised as I was. I nodded, unable to speak, scared that the nausea rumbling at the pit of my stomach would rise up and make itself known. Angela grabbed my hand, her grin wide with excitement. “This is going to be so much fun, Bella.”

Fun, yes, political, definitely, romantic? Oh, hell yes, because 1967 was well-known for being “The Summer of Love” in San Francisco, and when Edward Cullen – pre-med college student and soon to be Vietnam soldier – makes his appearance and sweeps sweet, innocent Bella off her feet, their connection is instantaneous, hot and progresses quickly, *wink* as they don’t have much time to waste before Edward leaves for Basic Training.

*excerpt from chapter 3*

"We need to stop," he whispered, his voice halfway between a breath and a moan. "I need to stop."

"Don't stop," I begged, causing another groan to escape from his mouth. I was drowning in sensation.

His lips lingered on mine a moment longer, as if he was afraid to let go. I let my eyes flicker open, drowning in his heated stare. My hands were still clasping his ass like a desperate woman. That's how he made me feel.

Like a woman.

He pulled away, stepping back and running his right hand through his hair. It was messy and out of place, and I remembered in a couple of months, it would all be shaved off.

I hated that.

His lips glistened from my tongue, his face pink from arousal. I was hot and bothered myself, panting out breaths and restraining myself from lunging at him.

"Wow." He smiled, the corners of his eyes crinkling.

I grinned back, patting my hair down, wondering if it was as messy as his. We knew we needed to leave; the clinic wasn't exactly giving rooms away, but I felt strangely reluctant to go. I felt so different from the Bella Swan who had woken up that morning; older, wiser, more sensual. I feared leaving the clinic was one step closer to returning to Wentworth and the Bella I used to be. It wasn't that I disliked myself, though there were aspects I was none too fond of, but now I'd experienced life like this, I didn't want to look back.

And I didn't want to let Edward Cullen go.

But, when this inevitable happens, it’s guaranteed, tears are shed and lives will change. Yet, there is so much more to learn and experience in California Dreamin’, as we live vicariously through these 60’s characters and enjoy the vivid descriptions from this world of colorful peace symbols, freedom speeches, controversial rallies, and unfortunately…the perils of the Vietnam war.

In my humble opinion, and as a pre-reader for the story, Chocaholic123 has a special way with the written word that somehow leaves me both satisfied and always wanting more. Her descriptive writing is beautiful and flows so easily, it’s like I can feel myself living in the 60’s.  So, please join us on this exciting, well-presented, historical journey that is only six chapters in and which updates weekly. And since we have a long way to go, you have lots of reading to delight in, plenty of the 60’s to experience, as we go California Dreamin’ with all the Twilight gang, on such a summer’s day!

One-Night Stand in Locked-Down London by BlueIsSoul
A disinterested, paranoid girl. A wealthy journalist with only one thing on his mind. Too much alcohol. A serial killer on the loose. Here's the problem with a one-night stand in locked-down London. Rated M

Reviewed by: PlanetBlue

Some of us have experienced that awkward moment when your one-night stand becomes, well, over and you have to decide how to exit the situation.

For Edward, a self-assured, cocky and womanizing Londoner, a hookup that started in a pub turns out to be one that lasts a little longer than anticipated, due to the lockdown of an entire city because of an escaped serial killer. Which, of course, he won’t discover until the fun is over.

His other problem? His choice is a super snarky and paranoid Bella, who fears the serial killer is lurking around every corner. Despite this, he finds himself strangely drawn to her, regardless of what his self-written “rules” tells him he should do.

"Charlie - my dad - tried to take me to the doctor, because he thought it could be a real issue or something. I don't go though. I mean, I'll be labeled, and that's when things become concrete. It's almost like then I'll really have something, you know what I mean?"

"Like a diagnosis?"

"Yeah."

"…of paranoia?"

She nods. "Yeah."

I take a sip from my pint. What do you say to someone who's kind of admitted they choose not to go the doctor because they think they might possibly be crazy?

Nothing.

So I say just that.

Nothing.

"Then I fixate... on things, people," she says conversationally, "men mainly."

Err…

My psycho-chick-homing-device explodes.

BOOOM!

There are alarms blaring and shit.

Get set, Edward. Go.

Run for your life.

I'm still here though.

As insane as she appears to be, our bloke Edward thinks there’s something he likes about her brand of crazy and decides that spending the night with her is a great idea. He soon finds himself in her flat having the hookup of his life.

"Your turn."I raise an eyebrow and she pushes off my shoulders, and all of a sudden pulls off me. I watch as she does a 180 so her back is in front of me, gets down on her elbows and grabs my dick from in front.

Okay.

I shuffle forward. She holds me in her small fist, bringing me to the entrance of her beautiful pussy and leaves me there, stranded.

She pushes backward and my breath hitches at the exquisite sight before me. "Bella… you're…beautiful." My dicks rests at her wet folds, and then I pause.

Does she want me to take her fast and hard? Or maybe slow and thorough? It's only a second of self doubt, yet it's strange because, hell, I don't suffer self doubt. I never question myself when it comes to this.

Challenging eyes meet mine as she looks back at me, smiling she says, "Well… what are you waiting for?"

"Patience, princess," I murmur, dipping my tip into her. "Good things come to those who wait."

Her face is turned to the side so I can see the way she closes her eyes as I push in a tiny bit and then pull out, teasing, playing, watching. Each time sinking in a little more, her noises becoming more and more ferocious with each time we meet.

She's begging."Edward, please, please…."

Her ass moves backward and moves around, searching for me as I pull away. I let her find me, and place me against her sweet pussy, before pulling back again.

She lets out a frustrated growl.

"Oh bloody hell, Edward," she complains in a whiny voice. "No teasing."

I roll my eyes. This is coming from Queen Tease herself. We are going to play a little. "Ask for it," I demand huskily, running my hand down her spine and squeezing a butt cheek.

"Ah," She whimpers. "I - I want you inside me."

 "Like this?"I dip into her.

"Yes, she whispers throatily. "I… I want more of you."

I slip in some more.

The sexy times are a bonus, as the witty banter between these two getting to the fun part of the evening is what really draws you in. They’re in fight mode from the get go, yet have an unquestionable pull towards each other. As a reader, you’ll love watching them try to navigate between their warring words and lustful bodies.

The sprinkling of British idiosyncrasies, language, and slang really makes you feel like you’re across the pond with them, and BlueIsSoul does a great job of mixing banter, sex, and humor into one enjoyable ride.

And let’s not forget what Edward now has to contend with:

I give it to her soft, hard and too much, until I ache all over because I don't want her to remember me as just any one-night stand guy. I want to be THE one-night stand guy.

And for once in my one-night encounter history, I don't spend any part of the night plotting howto escape the next morning.

Yet.

Compass by SparklingWand
CompassEleven years has passed since Dr. Isabella Swan last spoke with her childhood chum, first officer Edward Cullen. One flight to her new home changes that. With the help of a tiny red compass, they find themselves on a journey of friendship, hope, love, and betrayal. "You're my compass. My one true north." Rated M

Reviewed by: Twific Crackmum

From the opening lines of the prologue, you know this story is going to be a roller-coaster ride. Survivors are being brought into a hospital, following a plane crash, and Dr Isabella Swan is frantically looking through the carnage searching for someone. The words gave me a chill, like it was a 9/11 scenario all over again.

And so begins Compass by SparklingWand.

From there we flashback in time to 1998, and the end of high school, where "Izzy" Swan and her best friend, Edward Cullen, have know each other nearly all their lives. Theirs is a relationship built on trust, humour and genuine friendship. While they have both felt attraction towards the other, neither has acted upon it for fear of ruining their unique relationship. Shy and bookish Izzy stood by, watching from afar while girls threw themselves into Edward's path, remaining firm friends with him despite the obstacles. But as high school ends, decisions have to be made about the next step in their lives. Izzy heads to pre-med at NYU, whilst Edward dreams of becoming a pilot. As they ready themselves to leave and move on to the next stage of their lives, it seems their feelings for one another will remain unrequited. For a parting gift, Edward gives Izzy a plastic compass—a small toy from the bottom of a Cracker Jack box.

"Let this compass lead you back home. Let it lead you back to me. Forever and always".

Although they try to keep in touch, the inevitability of time, distance and work means that they gradually lose touch with each other.

But Izzy still keeps the little plastic compass over all this time.

Fast forward eleven years. After studying and working in New York, "Bella" embarks on a new chapter in her life, accepting a position as Head of Oncology at Exempla Lutheran Medical Centre in Colorado. Now an accomplished thirty-year-old, Bella leaves behind security—and a lover—to take up the prestigious position. It's while on the flight between New York and Denver that Bella receives a"blast from the past". The dulcet tones of First Officer Edward Cullen float out over the onboard PA system, and Bella is instantly transported straight back to her youth.

She manages to get a message through to the flight deck, with the aid of her trusty plastic compass, and a delighted Edward comes out to visit her. He asks her for a meeting and is thrilled to find out she is moving permanently to Denver, which is his homebase..

Too good to be true? What's a good story without some tension and angst?

This comes in the form of Edward's girlfriend. Yes, Edward is in a relationship, which leaves Bella somewhat sad and wistful about what might have been. An argument upon parting so many years before left some unresolved issues between them and some old wounds have been reopened. But their attraction to one another is clear. This is very frustrating for Edward, as he wrestles with the fact that he still has feelings for Bella, whilst being in a relationship with a woman he genuinely likes as well. Add into the mix a competitor for Bella’s affection—a pilot friend of Edward’s—and you get a situation where the tension is mounting by the minute.

The story has now reached the prologue, so the anxiety is running at fever pitch. I can't wait to see how it all pans out. If you haven’t read it yet, it’s at the perfect point to begin.

The Keepsake by Windchymes
Some things you never forget, they just hurt too much to remember.
Twilight - Rated: M

Reviewed by: Dolly Reader

Some things you never forget, they just hurt too much to remember.

Whenever I see an alert from Windchymes show up in my inbox I literally make a happy face and start clapping.  Windchymes has consistently written AU stories that take the framework of Twilight and twist them to a new direction.  I have appreciated her Bellas that have a strength and determination to withstand conflict and communicate what they want.  Her Edwards are loving and caring.

When The Keepsake arrived I rapidly clicked over excited to begin a new journey.  As the story opens, we find Bella newly arrived and unpacking her boxes in her apartment at University.  Her pal, Jake is there to lend a hand.  While going through her books she discovers her well-worn copy of Wuthering Heights and pages fall to the floor.

But before I put it in the rubbish I shake it out gently over the floor.

"What are you doing?" Jake asks.

"I had a bookmark I really liked but I lost it ages ago. I'm just checking for it before I throw the book away."

Jake looks towards the shelves where the other books sit. "What's it look like?"

"A leather strip with Celtic patterns on it."

The book yields nothing except another couple of loose pages.

"Where's the last place you saw it?" He stands and walks to the shelves.

"Can't remember. It was before..." I stop for a second. "It was in junior year."

Bella settles into her routine of being a student and stops off at the campus library.  As she is leaving one night she makes a most interesting discovery.

...my attention is drawn to the carpet and I stop.

My bookmark is lying on the floor.

I stare at it for a moment, knowing it can't really be mine. There are probably hundreds like it.
I bend and pick up the strip of tan leather with its Celtic patterns of black dye. Some of the black is missing from the border around the edges, just like mine. Bewildered and confused I look absently at my bag. Had it been in there all along, only to fall out now? I shake my head, no; I've only had this bag since Christmas. I decide the bookmark probably isn't mine. I turn it over and in the bottom corner see the tiny, faded single letter drawn in pen...B

...

I hurry to the desk and she processes my loan. I shove the book in my bag and head out the door. It's almost dark outside, the lights from the building blaze brightly and I stand under them, still staring at the bookmark as it lays across my palm, still trying to find a reason, an explanation...that elusive anything.

...

Suddenly, the hair on the back of my neck stands up. My skin pebbles in goosebumps and my body is alert. In the silence around me I hear the echo of footsteps and look up. I watch the figure come out of the gloom and as he comes down the path, before I can see his face clearly I know...it's in the set of his shoulders and the tilt of his head. And the way he walks...

It's Edward Cullen.

After three years of being apart, Bella sees Edward again for the first time.  She is completely dumbfounded to realize that he has no remembrance of her. It isn’t long after returning to her apartment that Bella receives some very unexpected visitors who carry some incredibly startling information.

Carlisle puts a careful, calming hand on my upper arm and I stop. His voice is gentle but firm when he speaks.

"Bella, Edward has gone to enormous trouble to block out something incredibly painful, and I believe he's done this purely to survive. So, he needs to remember in his own time, when his subconscious believes he's ready to handle it, and not before. Obviously I can't tell you what to do, but if you speak with Edward again I must stress that it would be better if you didn't tell him you have a shared past, or what has happened between you. It could do him a lot more harm than good."

Just as defeat and desolation begin to wash over me, a tiny spark of light comes through the gloom – a small beacon of hope.

"He came back for my bookmark," I say softly, sitting up straight and lifting my eyes to look at Carlisle, then Alice. "That must mean something, mustn't it?"

Carlisle smiles, surprise in his eyes, and Alice grins.

"In that case," Carlisle smiles wider, "I suggest you let nature take its course."

And so it begins, a new dance of discovery between Edward & Bella.  But in The Keepsake, Bella is the one with the answers and the knowledge of what has been.  She walks the fine line of engaging Edward at his pace and revealing herself to him as if they had never been together before.  Edward finds himself being intrigued by Bella’s difference from the other students.  As he reflects upon his actions we learn,

He had gone back to school and watched her from a distance, determined to discover that she was actually boring and dull and not the silver lining to his constant cloud cover. But he had discovered just the opposite. She was different. And she was special...to him. He realised that the first time he saw her stumble over a tree root and his hands shot out reflexively to catch her, even though he was on the other side of the campus lawn. And the realisation was compounded when he heard her laughing with some other students in the corridors of the history department. The sweet sound warmed him like nothing else, he'd found himself wanting to know what she found so funny.

But sometimes she looked sad, he thought. His vampire eyes would see expressions in her eyes and on her face that he didn't understand...but he wanted to understand, and that confused him as much as anything else.

I’m so excited to see Edward’s journey of re-discovery and how his actions will change with his new experiences behind him.  How will his concern and curiosity about her emerge into love?  What will their new experiences together bring them?  Without a doubt, I’ll be devouring every word and golden moment that Windchymes gifts us with.

Copy Room by Edward's Eternal
Sometimes flippant words are really the truth spoken out loud. What happens when someone overhears you and decides to give you what you secretly want but never knew? When Bella Swan says something in jest, it's how it's perceived and transferred to the Copy Room that is important. Adult situations and strong language. Rated M

Review by: Midnight Cougar

It was earlier this year, when Edward’s Eternal sent me the first draft chapter of Copy Room to pre-read, and to say I was blown away would be an understatement. I was immediately drawn into the intricate way this “fantasy”—as in Bella’s sexual fantasy—story would play out. Even though the plot and characters are undeniably out of Edward’s Eternal’s “normal” Edward and Bella persona realm, Copy Room has been very well received by her readers, with over 2000 reviews at only 8 chapters, and now having won of Fic of the Week!

The summary highlights the crux of the story, hinting at the OOC Bella and Edward being portrayed: “Bella Swan says something in jest; it's how it's perceived and transferred to the Copy Room that is important.”  Bella, while having some canon traits, like the “she doesn’t see herself clearly” ideal and typical insecurities, has a vivid imagination and a strong opinion on what she needs in her life…sexually. She speaks her mind bluntly, and goes way out of her comfort zone to fulfill those expressed needs. The male lead—name/identity unknown until chapter 7—is a dominant, sexy man in the darkness of the copy room; he knows what he wants and goes after her with vigor when he sees a prime opportunity. It’s all of these elements, and more, that make for one hell of a sexually-charged and consuming story, where readers wait anxiously for updates!

Bella works as a PA in a busy office. Her boss, James, is not confident in the security of today’s technology, causing Bella to have to use a private copy room on a regular basis…and this is where all the action *wink* takes place. But this is not where it all started… Bella was burned by an ex-boyfriend who cheated on her, and it’s her fragile self-esteem that keeps her feeling “invisible” as she tells her co-worker and close friend, Rose, in the lunch room one day…

I shook my head. "I haven't had a date in over a year, Rose. Try imagining that."

Rose leaned across the table and gripped my hand. "After the disaster with Riley, that's hardly surprising, Bella. But you need to get out there again. Show yourself off."

"Yeah, right. There's nothing to show, Rose." I looked down at my lap and shrugged before glancing back up at her. "I'm plain. Invisible. And that's just how it is for me."

But is Bella really as “invisible” to those around her as she thinks?

Sighing, I gathered my pile of copying and went down the hall. I set up the copier and sat down, waiting for the collated piles to start appearing. My phone buzzed in my pocket, signalling a new text. I pulled it out, frowning at the unknown number. My eyes widened as I read the text.

You're not invisible.

I see you.

And I think you're beautiful.

*swoon* So, someone obviously “sees” Bella, and wants her to know she is more than her own self-perception, but the question is: who could this be? At this point, Bella has no idea—and neither do the readers—and it’s this element of mystery that really heat up in the copy room—in more ways than one—after Bella expresses to Rose exactly how she’d like her next “encounter” with the opposite sex to play out…

Angrily, I turned to Rose. "I don't need a boyfriend to get laid," I hissed at her.

Her eyebrows shot up. "Are we talking self-love or are you planning on using an escort service, Bella?"

I leaned forward, glaring at her and keeping my voice low. "Maybe that's what I want, Rose. Sex with no strings. Maybe sex with a stranger." I leaned back in my chair, enjoying the surprised look on her face. "Yeah," I mused. "Hot, fast, hard sex with a stranger. Somewhere dark. No names. No strings. Just …" I lowered my voice further. "Hot. Dirty. Fucking."

Oh, really, Bella? Well, let’s see what we—or should I say our mystery texter—can do about that…

…the room suddenly went black.

For a second I stood there, confused. The copier was still working, how could the lights go off? A noise right behind me startled me but before I could move a pair of hands gripped my waist.

I gasped as the hands pulled me backward and I felt the hard planes of a well-defined chest pressed against my back. Warm breath drifted across my cheek as a low, rough voice whispered in my ear.

"Is this what you wanted?"

"What?" I whispered, a shudder running through me. "Who are you? What … what do you want?"

The voice chuckled, a deep, rumbling noise. "No names, remember? You said a stranger …"

A small whimper escaped my throat. Someone had heard my flippant words to Rose.

Warm lips grazed up my neck. "You know what I want. I know what you want. Tell me, Isabella," the voice demanded softly. "Is the room dark enough?"

"D… dark enough?"

A warm, wet tongue traced my earlobe. Another deep chuckle sounded in my ear as I shivered and I felt the hands on my waist tighten.

"Dark enough for me to fuck you?"

*fans self* “And so it begins... M for a reason...” as Edward’s Eternal says. It looks like Bella’s fantasy could become reality…if that is what she does indeed desire. So, if you want to experience for yourself how this romantically sexy story unfolds, and if you dare to live vicariously through Bella, and have your, I mean Bella’s, sexual fantasy fulfilled, I suggest you turn up the air conditioning before you begin reading, because things are getting downright fucking steamy in the darkness of the Copy Room!

To Destroy by Walkingwithgiants
In the words of Abe Lincoln, "The best way to destroy an enemy is to make him a friend." Bella works for a man that makes her teeth grind. "My boss is an asshole," she cried. Rated M

Review by: jacndaniel

Being asked to write this review was both flattering and terrifying. I love Mariana’s words and I was so worried that I wouldn’t be able to do them justice. Yet here is my humble attempt.

When “To Destroy” begins we meet Bella. She is in a mediocre temp position, and is just taking life as it comes. She doesn’t have any idea what she is in for when she accepts a permanent position as the new assistant to the elusive Mr. Edward Cullen.

In fact, Mr. Cullen is so elusive that our Bella introduces herself to him as “Mr. Cullen’s new assistant”. That is where the fun begins!

"I'm Mr. Cullen," he said in an annoyed tone. He dropped a stack of binded papers onto the corner of the desk. "You can assist me by making me twenty copies of his pamphlet and putting each into a portfolio before you go." There was no please, no further questions about what my name was, no welcoming words into his office, nothing. The tall man with a pretty face, and dismissive attitude ducked into his office and left me there at 4:55 on a Friday with a bunch of shit to do.

Really, I tried to remind myself of how nice he'd been the first time we'd met a year ago, but it was freaking impossible. Impossible! I mean, shit! Who does that? Obviously this douche bag. Grabbing the collection of papers of the table, I ground my teeth together and hissed out what I had a feeling would become my mantra, "Fucking asshole."

An asshole indeed and he will have many more opportunities to prove his asshole-ness as the story unfolds. Edward Cullen screams more than he speaks and Bella finds herself on the receiving end of many a rant. It takes a few weeks for Bella to make a little progress with her Jerkward, and even then her victory is short lived.

"I just wanted to tell you that did well in the meeting."

Umm... excuse me?

I didn't know how to respond besides side-eyeing the wall and my computer screen.

"Thank you," I mumbled out, waiting for the moment in which he would criticize some aspect of my work.

There was silence in return.

Until I heard him clear his throat again. "Next time, I'd appreciate it if you didn't waste time by staring at blank pages in your notebook though, Isabella."

And, bam.

How the hell did he know? It was then that I remembered him watching me unwrap a new packet of legal pads earlier in the week, and stashing them in my desk.

"You can make up the time by staying ten minutes later tonight. Send me your notes from the meeting ASAP."

I decided one thing in that moment. At some point, maybe not in a day, or a week, or even a month, I would make Mr. Cullen pay for being an asshole because it was genuinely fair. I held back tears from my eyes, both because I was humiliated that he caught me, but also because it just seemed so unfair.”

Jeebus, that man could use a lesson in Management 101! It’s probably not the best idea to make your assistant hate you, especially since she is the one running your life for you. I wanted to feel sorry for poor Bella, but I don’t think she wants me to. I’m sure she has something brewing, and pay back is a bitch.

The dynamic between Bella and Edward doesn't change much until their fateful first business trip, to which she gets a hilarious send off from her best friend Angela. I must say that this is the best “Angela” I have read in a long time. She is anything but shy and quiet like she is expected to be. The relationship that she has with Bella is one of my favorite parts of the story.

A sharp rap at my window made both of us shriek like half-dressed hussies in scary movies.

"Sweet baby Jesus!" Angela shrieked.

Followed by my loud "Shit!"

I grabbed at the place where my heart would be, looking out the window to see who in the world had just scared the crap out of us. Recognizing the deep, green eyes on the other side of the glass, I let out a deep exhale as my heart fought its way to regulate itself.

Mr. Cullen stood there, the same bored expression as always filling his features. "I'm here," he said, loudly.

I nodded my response and watched him walk away, toward a slick, black Town car that was parked haphazardly on the fire lane.

"Uhh... please tell me that wasn't your boss," she muttered.

"That isn't my boss?"

Angela's jaw dropped open when I turned to look at her. "Bella, that man is smoking hot."

I couldn't help but groan. "He's a dick."

"A hot dick!" she squealed. "Why didn't you tell me the man looks like a GQ model?"

"It's hard to acknowledge someone's hotness when he has such a shitty personality," I scoffed, looking out the window to see a full sized car and a compact car pulling into the parking lot. "I think that's our car, Ang."

We got out of the car and pulled my small suitcase out of her trunk. Angela wrapped me in a tight hug before whispering in my ear, "Now I really do hope you share a room with that stud."

"You're terrible," I laughed against her ear.

Usually when Edward and Bella are sent away together on any kind of over night trip, the sparks fly and they return as a couple. That is not the case here. Not even close. Believe me when I tell you that  it’s not what you think. At all. It came so far out of left field for me that I think I read the chapter four times! Seriously, the turn the story takes is a sharp left and all hell breaks loose.

"You're a fucking slut!" the blonde woman screamed in my face.

"I already called security!" an unfamiliar voice just to my other side exclaimed.

I looked over, struggling just the slightest to keep Kate from slipping out of my hold, to see that two other people from our floor were standing in the hallway, in their underwear, looking alarmed. Kate kicked my leg with the toe of her shoe, nailing me right to the side of my shin, contacting the muscle there with a vengeance. I yelped before pushing my body weight against her to keep her legs immobile. My heart was beating fast while I pushed against Kate again, looking down at the dark carpet. I didn't want to look up. I didn't want to see Mr. Cullen's stupid face right there.

I don't think I'd ever been so pissed off in my life.

It wasn't like I actually needed his help, but still. I'd never met a man that wouldn't have stood up for me, if I needed it. Obviously, I'd needed it.

If you aren’t intrigued now, then I don’t know what else I can say. This story is smart and funny and pulls at the heart strings more than I expected it to. You will not regret waiting for the updates, I surely don’t.

Thanks to the lovely ladies at The Lemonade Stand for asking me to write this review, and thanks to Mariana for sharing such a great story with us all!

Review by: Cared

I’d like to send a virtual bouquet of flowers to FallingSnowWinter for planting the seed that grew into this rip-roarin’, historical, country tale. She created and then posted these two sexy and inspiring manips in PattyRose’s FB group, thus stirring PattyRose to take us onto the open range in the 1800’s.

The first tantalizing glimpse of sweaty, dirty Edward - being a man’s man - as he drives his cattle over the Texas plains will get your heart a thumpin’, and believe me, the first mention of his “pecker” will get your blood a racin’. *wink* Edward has a similar reaction when a beautiful cowgirl makes an unexpected appearance…

When this cattle girl finally removes her hat and shakes her head out, long, chocolate hair comes loose and slaps itself against a sun-kissed face that should be on an angel, not a cowhand. I blink and stare like a total jack-ass because the sun has decided to shine every single one of its rays over her, and so I must look.

Wait.

I ain't no namby-pamby, 'case that's what y'all are thinkin'. I have never known myself to be in love. The three, wonderful, generous women who let me poke around inside them – Tanya, Kate and Rina - were not objects of my undying affection, though I deeply appreciated the favor that they were bestowing on me. I am a practical man of twenty-four years on this here Earth, and while I know that one day I may have to settle down and take a wife, I am aware that the life I lead is not ideal for most married folks. Plenty a grass widow come about from my way of life: women who can't deal with a husband away for months at a time, who rightfully wonder what that husband does on his time away: who's warmin' his body and keepin' his pecker workin' and such. My Ma and Pa have made it work but that right there is the exception not the rule for conjugal bliss. I've resigned myself to the fact that my wife will come second in my life and will either deal with it - or leave.

Unsuspecting Edward considered this his plan until the stubborn as a mule and mighty perty Bella rode into his life.  She is a feisty, strong spirited, impetuous woman living in a man’s world…and I love her! In Edward’s words, “She is the most glorious, confusin' and bewitchin' bein' I have ever encountered.” Between her skills on the open range and her womanly wiles, she brands her man, lassoes his heart, and opens up a new and exhilarating trail for them both – but not without a measure of rugged terrain to negotiate first.

You can bet your bottom dollar the unusual setting, intoxicating plot, delightful old west sayings and the truly interesting menfolk, will quickly have you rounded up, but, I’m not ashamed to admit, PattyRose had me at Cowboyward! Edward’s inner monologue will leave you both giggling at him, and yearning for him, no matter how dirty he might be. Who knew a roll in the hay could be so sensual and hot – even with the scent of manure lingering in the air?  The authentic cowboy speak will allow the dust to invade your nostrils, the fieriness of the midday sun to beat down on your neck, and make your throat as dry as prairie grass, all while feeling you are riding right alongside the Cullen men as they wrangle their cattle towards Abilene.

So ladies, I’d be much obliged if you’d saddle-up, hold tight to the reins, and allow Cowboyward and his…stallion to take you for a wild ride on the open range!

Hooked Up and Locked Down by LayAtHomeMom
All he wants is a distraction. And a distraction is what he gets when a night out with friends leads to a steamy hook-up. Of course, sometimes things look different in the morning..but that's the trouble with one-night stands in locked down Boston. Rated M

Edward Cullen, a Boston EMT, is drinking the night away—trying to forget the heartache and anxiety following the Boston Marathon tragedy—when he meets Bella, who has recently moved back to Boston from Manhattan.  They immediately hit it off and are in a cab headed to Bella’s apartment before the night is up.

"Ya wanna get outta here?" She whispers against my lips and I swear I can feel my dick noddin' his head and wavin' his hand toward the exit as if to say 'after you milady'.

I wanna answer her question, but apparently my lips have other ideas as I cover her mouth with mine. She tastes like Amaretto and Southern Comfort, my own real life version of a Sicilian kiss. She breaks it all too soon, grabbing my hand and leading me out to the front of the bar. We give Rose and Em a quick wave as she grabs her pocketbook and we make a run for it.

"Where are we headin'?" I ask as we hustle up the block closer to the square to grab a cab.

She giggles a bit and throws her arms around my waist. "Hooka' Avenue."

I laugh because she sounds just like Rosalie when she says it, then I kiss the shit out of her under a streetlight not caring who sees us. We catch a break when a Brattle cab drives by. You can tell Bella did a stint in New York just by the way she hails a taxi with an air of authority in her voice. She rattles off her address to the cabbie as she scoots across the seat. I don't even have the door shut completely and she has her leg hitched over my thigh and her hands in my hair at the nape of my neck pulling me close once more.

Things continue to heat up as they make their way into Bella’s apartment, only to be interrupted by Jake, Bella’s peanut size dog. Jake has no use for Edward and makes it clear from the start. But nothing, not even Jake’s ferocious growl, can keep the sparks from flying when these two get together.

"How do ya want it, Bella?' I ask with a grunt and a grind.

The words must be stuck in her throat because all I hear is a soft mewl and I feel her tighten her grip in my hair and her legs wrap around my lower back.

"Huh, Cookie? Ya want it hard and fast right here on your counter?" I pause for effect, let it sink in that I am down to match every ounce of crazy she throws at me. "Do ya want it like that?"

She bites that lip in a failed attempt to hold back a moan as I skim my nose down her jaw and up the other side. I ghost my fingertips up her thighs until I reach the button on her pants. I take her earlobe between my lips and whisper against the shell of her ear.

"Take off your pants." I watch as she makes quick work of her pants and shoes and looks at me expectantly. "Now lose the shirt."

After a night of hot sex, the hungover pair are woken up to the incessant ringing of Edward’s cell phone.  The city is on lock down while the Boston Marathon suspect is still at large. No one is going anywhere. Edward’s one night stand just got a little awkward.

I need for her to understand so I grab her shoulders and turn her to look out the window at the advancing SWAT team.

"The city is on lock-down. SWAT is goin' door-to-door looking for a suspect. Rose said that shit got real last night. There was a shoot-out, a car chase, I don't know. I think a cop was gunned down or something. I didn't catch everything she said."

I feel her tremble a bit and I doubt it's because she's cold. She just nods and whispers 'okay' as she walks out of the room. I hear dresser drawers opening and closing, then the distinct sounds of a magazine being ejected from a gun. I round the corner just in time to see her inserting the ammo before pushing the mag up until it locks with a click.

"Whoa, Cookie – what'cha got goin' on there?" I ask as I lean against her doorway.

The story continues with Edward and Bella navigating through the day learning about each other. Edward starts to realize that maybe Bella is more than just a one night stand, but does Bella feel the same?  Will being on lock down after hooking up work in his favor? Or will it be a disaster?

"Lemme ask you somethin'," I say, staring at the ceiling not wanting to meet her eyes for the first time since the first moment I met her.

"Shoot."

"You seem to be operatin' under the assumption that I am big on hittin' it and quittin' it."

"That's not a question."

"Fine. Do you? Ya know, think that… about me?"

She props her head on her elbow and her brow is furrowed as she studies me closely. Here I am expecting her to ease my mind and tell me 'no, no, no'. Instead she just shrugs which might as well be code for 'yes, I think you'd stick your dick in just about anything with a pulse'.

Based loosely on an article in Esquire magazine, Hooked Up and Locked Down is filled with so many sweet moments and great laughs. This story will capture your heart from the beginning.  I loved reading about Edward trying to win “the girl” all while contending with her little devil dog and a citywide manhunt. He ends up finding something he didn’t even know he was missing.  Add an adventurous Bella and a crazy family, and you have a winning fic.  Definitely not one to be missed!

Review by Agrutle

Bella Black is trying to start anew after her divorce. Her son Jacob wants to play hockey again so she signs him up for the local kids team. She’s quite literally knocked off her feet by a Cullen, Emmett the rambunctious son of Edward, the coach or FCC as Bella refers to him. Not knowing that he’s the coach she just calls him FCC, Firm Chest Cullen, until Alice tells her he’s the coach.

Edward is attracted to her and she to him but Emmett’s mom shows up after the first practice and Bella assumes that Edward’s married. Lets just say it takes a little bit and a big mix-up to get it through her head that he’s not married and he wants to explore things with her!

"I don't mean to bother you, I just wanted to call and say hello. And see if you had given any thought to Tuesday night. Letting Jake come here? Emmett would love it." His voice was a pleasant hum in my ear.

"It's a nice offer, Edward, but what about dinner? I won't have time to get him home and fed—"

My voice trailed off in uncertainly as I tried to sort out my schedule.

"No worries, it's Tuesday. Esme makes spaghetti every Tuesday. A lot of spaghetti. You could join us if you'd like?"

My stomach twisted. His perfect wife made spaghetti on Tuesdays. Of course she did. And he was being kind and offering to let me come join them.

So his son could have time with his friend.

I closed my eyes at the unexpected burn of unshed tears. I wanted to say no, but remembered how happy Jake had looked at the idea.

For Jake.

I cleared my throat.

"I have to work, but that would be great for Jake, Edward. Thank you. And please thank, um, Esme, for me as well."

See!! Not only does she think he's married but she thinks Esme is his wife! How funny!!  Edward is so confused by Bella’s stand off-ness. She seems to like him but she keeps him at arms length.  He wants much, much closer.

Then I became serious. "And where is your father this evening, Edward? Did you simply not invite him? Since that would have ruined the joke? You know very well I invited you and your wife this evening. I simply assumed her name was Esme. Why do you refer to your mother by her first name?"

His face fell and he stepped forward.

"Well, first, my father is working tonight, at the hospital." He took a deep breath and found my eyes. "And second, and most important … not a joke, Bella. I call her Esme out of habit. She volunteers at the school and the rink and she likes everyone to call her that. She says when I call her mom at school it makes her feel old." He shook his head. "This was not a joke. I swear. My mother wanted to meet you."

I looked at him. "Feels like one to me. Please join your mom in the living room. I'll be in with some wine in a moment." I turned quickly and walked down the hall into the bathroom. I needed a quiet minute to myself to collect my thoughts. Before I could shut the door though, a hand closed around the edge and Edward pushed into the bathroom behind me, closing the door.

"What are you doing?" I gasped.

"Our conversation isn't finished."

I shook my head wearily. "It's fine, Edward. After dinner you can go home and laugh about it with your wife. I get it. I assumed something incorrectly. I will call her myself and apologize."

Edward stared at me. "You really don't know."

"Know what?"

He stepped closer and I backed up into the counter. The bathroom was already small, but with Edward's looming presence it felt tinier than ever. He was so close I could feel the heat of his body and I pushed myself as far away as I could. "I thought you knew; I thought Alice would have said something. There is no wife, Bella."

I gaped at him. "I saw her! She was there that first Saturday. She came into the locker room! Alice said she was Emmett's mother."

He nodded. "Yes. Tanya was there. She comes to the first practice every year and maybe one game."

I shook my head. "I don't understand."

His voice became softer. "She is Emmett's mother. She isn't my wife. We're divorced, Bella. The same as you are. She remarried almost immediately."

These two together are so cute and sweet its about enough to give you a toothache. They are tender, loving and they love the other ones kid. Then there are times where they can set a fire. I’ll leave you with this little bit and then you must go read it!! It’s so good and its complete!

God, no one had ever touched me like Edward. I had never wanted to touch and feel someone so badly. I had never experienced such a deep, burning want for any other man.

My hips shot off the bed, every inch of me needing to be closer to him. Yearning for his touch. Desperate to feel him against me. Inside me.

"Please … Edward … God … please …"

My voice was raspy, pleading, as I keened his name, begged for him to ease the quivering, urgent desire tearing through me.

"I have you, baby."

Then he was there … home. Inside me. Deep and pulsating. We both groaned at the sensation as he stilled, savoring the moment; his eyes locked with mine as we felt the intimacy of being completely joined. He hovered over me, arms resting either side of my head; his eyes dark and hooded. "It's never been like this, Bella. Tell me, baby. Tell me it's never been like this for you," he begged. "The heat … fuck … Bella… the heat."

"Oh God … never."

Shuddering, he thrust forward again, moving in long deep strokes, his rhythm smooth, his eyes never leaving mine. I clung to him, lost in a sea of sensations. His strong arms held me in place, his hands embracing my head as he gazed at me. His body pinned me down as he surged and ebbed; every movement, every thrust met with one of my own as we loved and rocked. He began moving faster, his head dipping into the hollow between my neck and shoulder, his hisses and groans deepening, my name escaping from his lips. The sounds of our lovemaking filled the room: the creak of the mattress, the slip of the soft sheets, our skin, damp with moisture, meeting and parting, his guttural groans and my whimpers mixed with pleading cries, all filled the air.

I shattered around him, soaring and rising, my body arching, twisting and locking down, as I cried out his name. His lips crashed against mine as he roared and plunged one last time, cursing and coming, filling me, before finally ceasing, collapsing on top of me, his head resting on my chest. I wrapped my arms around him, holding him tight, loving how he felt on top of me, knowing I had only a short time to enjoy it.

Our chests rose and fell in heavy panting breaths. He pulled himself up, leaning over, kissing me. Soft, adoring sweet caresses of his lips and tongue that spoke so loudly without making a sound. He shifted and rolled, encasing me in his arms, keeping me tucked into his chest as we laid entwined. His lips nuzzled and kissed, his fingers drawing small gentle circles on my back as we slowly recovered. I kept my head tucked under his chin, my mouth leaving small kisses on his chest, my hands pressed into his warm skin, drinking in the delicious feeling of being completely loved. I had never experienced anything so wonderful before. I closed my eyes, reveling in the closeness and the utter completion I felt with this man.

AUGUST 2013 FEATURED FICS OF THE WEEK
8/27/2013

Stolen by Rochelle Allison
He stole her heart, and then he stole her father's fortune. Love and forgiveness are nice concepts, but highly improbable. Right? Drama, romance, action, and a heavy sprinkling of the good stuff.

Reviewed by: FFpassion - Irene

When I was asked to write the rec for this weeks fic of the week I had a little panic attack.

How was I going to do justice to Rochelle's Allison words?

I love her work. I love the way she can take your heart from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows .

Stolen is another story that will make you laugh, swoon and cry. From the prologue you will feel the deep connection between Bella and Edward, it's very intense and will leave you wanting to know what the heck is going on!

Here's a little about the story...

Bella and her sister Tanya are in Miami to attend their cousin Bree's wedding.

They vowel to make the most of their holiday by sleeping in, drinking lot's and having fun.

It's while enjoying the sun and a few drinks with her sister and cousins that Bella first comes into contact with Edward...

Glancing around, I finally clue in. One of the waiters is standing nearby, hands in his pockets, smiling faintly as he waits for us to get it together. I assume his shift has just started, because we've been here all day now and I haven't seen him before.

But he's one of those guys.

Dimples and a killer smile.

Sunset hair and sun-kissed skin.

One of the beautiful ones.

"I, okay," I stammer, even though I'm a little light headed. The sun's going down, but it's still really hot, and I've been drinking all day. "Just club soda. With lime. Please."

All the girls are having so much fun telling Bella how he was checking her out but with Bella feeling the affects of the sun & drinks didn't think anything of it until he comes back with her drink...

But then he's in front of me like a mirage in the desert, handing me my club soda. There are plenty of limes inside, and a couple of cherries too, and I can't help but smile. He smiles back, running his fingers through his hair. Tanya pays him, and he thanks her, but then he's looking at me again. I sip at my cold drink, glad for the relief it brings, but inside I'm overheating at how his pretty eyes trail over me. Guess Tanya was right. I get the feeling he might want to say something, too, but then his co worker touches his arm, nodding toward another group that needs attention, and the spell is broken.

"Have a good one, ladies," he says, flashing one last million dollar smile as he walks away. He doesn't turn around this time.

There have been boys.

But never, ever a boy like that.

SIGH....

The story unfolds, Bella and Edward continue to see each other and they start to go out.

They have this amazing connection and their chemistry is off the charts.

Bella and Edward spend as much time as they can together and they both are feeling sad at the thought of not seeing each other when Bella has to go back home.

Knowing Bella's holiday is coming to a close she decides to make her last night one to remember.

After spending an amazing day together they find themselves back in Bella's room.

Edward sits on the edge of my bed, watching me. His tan is pretty dark, too.

"So, what do you want to do on your last night?"

"You."

He laughs quietly, cocking his head. "Oh, yeah?"

Ummm yeah, Bella knows what she wants and it's being with Edward.

As we all know from the prologue the night is everything Bella has dreamed.

In the morning Bella is alone with only a note left by Edward.

Bella is crushed :(

Morning without you is a dwindled dawn.

I hope you can forgive me.

I cannot tell you how happy I was when we got an update that was told from Edward's POV.

We get to see everything that has been going in Edward's life and how deeply he has fallen for Bella.

And then I do something I haven't done in months, maybe even years. It's not much, and it's silent, but it burns anyway.

I cry.

My heart... That last line left me in tears and I cannot wait to read more.

If you are not reading Stolen you are missing out, I promise you will not be disappointed. If you know Rochelle's work you know we are in for an emotional ride and one that will forever touch our hearts.

Thank you to The Lemonade Stand for asking me to write this rec.

The Practicum by TheFicChick

Reviewed by: DH78

There are fics that try to do fluff and are not quite successful because they lack the interesting little hiccups that make a good story. It’s sticky sweet and when they end,we’re left wondering how much sugar we consumed without biting into something delicious.

Empty calories.

Not this one. No siree.

The Practicum by TheFicChick gives you something to enjoy; the sweetness, the naturally-moving UST, the fuck hot PE coach-slash-health teacher with a propensity for blushing, and the smart, realistic female lead that is equal parts sexy and intelligent.

The story follows Bella, English teacher teaching in the small town she was raised in,and the new guy, Edward. He’s an ex-soccer player coaching Forks High’s talented soccer team and newly appointed Health/sex ed teacher. Bella’s assigned to assist him with teaching the curriculum, and well... you can imagine...

Edward should be cocky and over-sexed, considering his looks and athletic background. But he’s not. He’s sweet, a complete gentleman, and sexy in a completely adorable way. He’s not a complete prude, but he’s definitely the kind of guy we would probably meet in RL.

Bella’s a great, natural character. I love realistic Bellas. I also love witty ones.

Here’s a little clip from one of my favorite scenes so far:

"So, thanks for dinner," I say, suddenly feeling like this is a really bad movie script, and Edward only further confirms that assessment when he says, "It was my pleasure." I roll my eyes at our joint lameness and he chuckles. "Yeah, okay, this is awkward."

"See? This is probably why that whole chivalry thing has gone the way of eight-track tapes and VCRs. You should have just slowed to a crawl at the foot of the driveway and I could have hopped out. I can duck-and-roll like a ninja."

"If memory serves, we used a VCR just last week," he points out, ignoring my joke entirely, and is treated to my second eye-roll for his trouble.

"And, if my memory serves, you weren't exactly adept at doing so, which further illustrates my point."

"Trust me when I tell you that I'm far more adept at this than I am at operating archaic technology."

When he blushes, the implication of his words hits me and I can't resist thebait. "Oh? And what exactly is 'this'?"

"Um. Well." He licks his lips, and I step closer; when he looks down into my face, his eyes are heated. "You know. Dating."

 "I see."

"Okay, that's a lie. I suck at dating."

I laugh, the flirty sexual tension eliminated entirely. "I don't know," I counter. "Ithink you're doing pretty well, actually."

 "Yeah?"

 I nod. "Yeah."

 "Okay," he breathes. "Cool."

I smile and bite my lip, inordinately pleased when his eyes go immediately to mymouth. "Hey, Edward?"

"Yeah?" His eyes are still on my mouth, and it's amazing how very seventeen I feelright now. Were this a different porch on a different street in this same tiny town, this could be the first-date kiss I missed out on a decade ago.

 "Wanna kiss me?"

 "Badly," he says.

Nope. Not gonna ruin it for ya. You’re just gonna have to read it yourself. By the way,my other favorite scene is a certain conversation they have in the diner about his...shall we say, experiences regarding creative sexual activities-slash foreplay that had me spitting out my water and laughing hysterically. I won’t post it here because again, it would just ruin too much, and I want you to RUN, not walk over to read it.

Now, most people know I’m a teacher. One of the aspects of this story I like the most (besides the obvious wonderful and true-to-life UST) is the school atmosphere and the camaraderie among the teachers. I found myself laughing at Bella’s colleagues as they down margaritas and nachos as they gossip about the student and teachers. Yes. We do that. We have lives. We have sex. We’re still awesome teachers. Same goes for the antics of the students; crushes on teachers, being pressured to be sexually active, boys being... well, BOYS. It’s all very entertaining to read.

The story is story is now complete and you're lucky because it definitely was one of those “put everything down to read” fics. And after reading most of TheFicChick’s stuff, I can safely rec just about everything else on her FFN profile. But read this one first. It will surely put a smile on your face... and you won’t lose any of your teeth from sugary sweets with no substance.

Suddenly by LyricalKris
An apathetic actor. A young girl coming into her own. He was always larger than life to her. She was always just a child on the edge of his horizon. For both, love was a silly game other people played, until it wasn't. Rated M

LyricalKris could write the phone book and I would read it. A multitalented writer she’s brought us everything from mixed up sperm, to contract marriages. It was no surprise to myself, or my family, when an alert for Suddenly hit my inbox and I squealed and danced a jig.

We are first introduced to Edward, a 36 year old actor, who seems to be pretty jaded about everything. He’s over the paparazzi following him everywhere:

“Today, his glamorous celebrity life consisted of driving the long way around town so as to avoid any potential paparazzi who might have tailed him to a mediocre restaurant he'd chosen because they had a filthy alley he could easily slip into without being seen.”

Over the women he knows:

“Edward snorted. "Haven't you read the papers? She's done with me." He rolled his eyes. "That's why I had to sneak in. Couldn't let the paps catch me in my fragile state."

"Oh, but it is a saucy scandal, isn't it?" Garrett laughed. "America's most beautiful couple. The steamy seductress Victoria Wyle and Hollywood's most eligible bachelor. What could be more embarrassing for a leading man like you to lose Victoria to the fresh faced, boy-next-door, Hollywood's most charmingly adorable Riley Biers?"

"Look at me. I'm so ashamed I can't even sit up straight." It was true, in a way. His favorite booth in the restaurant was his favorite because it was tucked into a dark corner. Still, he was slouched up against the farthest corner. It was just a matter of time before someone recognized them.”

And doesn’t seem to care about the trappings of Hollywood that most actor’s long for:

“"You got the Carmen Medina project?" Garrett looked impressed. "Damn. Not going to lie, I'm really jealous. I wanted that part. Are you excited?"

Edward waved his hand. "I'm indifferent."

"Oh, of course you are. Carmen Medina is one of the most brilliant directors out there. She exudes the scent of Oscars."

"You know how I feel about Oscars."

Garrett shook his head. "I do. Of course, I do. A popularity contest. No measure of talent. Blah, blah, blah. And fuck you. I still want one."”

Edward decides that maybe it’s time to get a way for a bit, and goes to visit his brother Emmett and sister-in-law Rosalie.

Bella, herself, is as jaded as Edward. At just 18, she’s had a tough road. Her mother left her with her Aunt Rosalie to be raised and she only sees her a handful of times a year, not that Bella minded much, she needed the consistency and stability her Aunt provided.

Recently dumped at a party by a jerk she thinks her mother’s stance on love is correct:

“"Love is boring, my dear. If you're always free, life is an adventure. Every person you meet can show you something new and exciting."”

Not having dated in high school though she had found herself caught up in the newness of everything and how it made her feel:

“Being caught in the eye of the storm, being the one pursued, had a blinding effect. In her heart of hearts, Bella had known from day one she and Felix had nothing in common. Still, she'd been caught up in the teasing, the touching. She discovered how good being wanted could feel.

She felt pretty, oh so pretty.”

When actuality crashed down on her at that party it left her feeling disillusioned:

“Now, reality had crashed on her once again. The only thing Felix wanted was to get between her legs; he didn't care about her or appreciate her at all except for what her body could offer him.”

From the moment Edward arrives you can tell that he and Bella share a really close relationship:

“As she stepped in the door, Bella saw a blur come flying at her seconds before she found herself being lifted into the air. She screamed, disoriented for a moment. She was being hoisted over someone's shoulder and carried off like a cavewoman. She began to kick.

"Whoa, whoa. Duckling. Calm down!"

"Edward?"

Edward gave her ass a playful smack as he set her down. "Who else would it be?"

Both relieved she wasn't being attacked and thrilled as always to see him, Bella flung her arms around his neck, hopping up to wrap her legs around his waist. He laughed, holding her securely. "There's my girl."”

And we also get the sense that not everyone in Bella and Edward’s life finds their relationship to be healthy:

“"Oh, for God's sake."

They both looked up as Rosalie stepped back in the room from wherever she'd been. She put her hands on her hips, shaking her head. "You are not a little girl anymore, Bella. You look ridiculous on his lap like that."

Bella tried to scoot away, but Edward held her tight. "She's my little girl, Rose. Leave her alone. She's fine where she is."

It was true, Bella thought nothing of being this way with Edward. It was how they always were.”

Despite their difference in ages, Edward and Bella have always been great friends. They bond over their shared ideas in being in love:

“"No, I've never been in love." He folded his hands over his stomach. "To be honest, it seems like much more trouble than it's worth. I'm not unhappy alone."

"People do act ridiculous about love, don't they? God, sometimes it's all they can think about. Even Aunt Rose and Emmett."

Edward chuffed. "Oh, I know what you mean. When they get in those moods where they stare into each other's eyes. Are they still doing that?"”

He’s protective of her when others try to get her to be who she isn’t:

“Rosalie touched her hair, running her fingers through the dark strands. "You have such pretty features, Bella. Look at this beautiful hair. It would take so little effort for you to look amazing."

"God, Rose. Stop it. Just stop."

Bella's head snapped up, and she looked across the table. Edward wasn't looking at her but glaring at his sister-in-law.

Rose glared right back. "What's your problem?"

"You know, people like you are the reason women have so many self-image problems. There's nothing wrong with how Bella dresses. Leave her alone." His eyes flicked from Rosalie to Bella and back.”

But when Edward takes Bella out to get her mind off her break up suddenly, feelings are starting to change; lines are starting to become blurred:

“She might have reached up to touch the stubble along his chin, as if to assure herself he was real. She wasn't sure this whole moment actually existed. Maybe it didn't. She'd seen every one of his movies, of course. Something like this had happened in at least three of his movies. She could have been dreaming the whole thing, like the way his fingers moved through her hair, finding the bobby pins Alice had put in for her. His eyes were on her as she touched him.

The scratchy hair at his chin felt real enough under her fingertips though.

He chuckled and cupped the side of her face. His thumb stroked her cheek, and Bella couldn't name the feeling that coursed through her then. It was the same familiarity she was used to but something else.

He probably hadn't put her to bed since she was four, and this was nothing like that.”

And when pictures of their night out are published we discover one more person who would be against any sort of union these two might have:

“"Yeah, oh fuck." Emmett shoved him. "What the hell is wrong with you? You sick bastard. She's a kid."

"What are you talking about?" Edward shoved his brother right back, getting more pissed. "What the hell is wrong with you? You think I asked for this shot to be taken? You know-"

"You think I give a fuck about people taking your picture?" Emmett was up in his face, intimidating as hell with his size. "What, were you just waiting for Bella to turn eighteen so you could get a piece?"”

Edward tells his brother that it isn’t the way it looks but Emmett isn’t done, and something he says has Edward reconsidering his thoughts and feelings:

“"Nothing. Happened. I'm really at a loss to explain why you would think something would happen. You know I love Bella. I'd do anything to protect her. What makes you think I would do this?"

"Because I've never seen you look at anyone the way you're looking at her." He grabbed the newspaper back and pointed to his photograph on the front page. "Look at you, Edward. Look at your face and tell me what I'm supposed to think. Blase Edward Cullen. You're never smiling in those pictures with other women. You look bored. Always. Rose and I joke about it all the time. But here? Holding her like you are... just look at your face."

“He was more distracted by his brother's words, wondering if there was really something so different about the way he looked at Bella and if so, why that was.”

Suddenly every action, every spoken word and innocent touch takes on a whole new meaning for Edward and he does the only thing he can think to do … run:

“"If you're not going to tell me what's bugging you, there's only one way I have left to make you smile again."

"Don't-" he began, but she had already lunged.

As someone who'd known him for all her life, Bella was privy to information she knew the most the interviewers in Hollywood would die for. She knew how to make Edward smile on demand. It was something she'd discovered when she was still tiny, and she would climb him like a jungle gym like she did her uncle Emmett.

Edward was ticklish. In the extreme.

So Bella attacked without mercy, forcing him to smile and giggle and writhe. He squirmed, but Bella was relentless. He fell backward, trying to scramble away from her. She was over him in a heartbeat. "Bella," he gasped. "Bella, stop." He was breathless. "Bella!" He grabbed her wrists, holding them tight in both his hands.

Bella had no idea what happened. One minute they were both laughing - Edward because she was tickling him, and Bella reveling in his chortling. The second he grabbed her wrists time stood still. Their laughter faded to nothing, and Bella was suddenly very aware of her position.

She was on top of him. Chest to chest as they were, she could feel his fast heartbeat. His face was flushed. Hers was too. Heat radiated off their skin.

Bella's head spun, every thought scattering like birds taking flight. Her mind was blank. Her throat was tight.

Edward sat up, taking her with him. He released her wrists, and her hands fell limply down in her lap. She was still looking at him, and he had not broken their stare. They were still so close. No closer than usual, so why it felt different, Bella was at a loss to explain. Her heart raced.

"Bella," Edward whispered. She opened her mouth to respond but found she had no words. His breath stuttered, and he raised his hand, brushing his fingertips down her cheek. Her skin felt hot, like fire but without the pain, where he touched her.

He swallowed hard.

And stood so suddenly she gasped.

"I, um..." He ran his hand through his hair. "I'm going home. Tonight."”

I, personally, love a well written older Edward/younger Bella story and this one promises to be great! The relationship between Edward and Bella is flirty, fun and innocent … so far, and I can’t wait to see the ride that LyricalKris takes us on by the time all is said and done.

Review by GeekChic12

We start out meeting a twelve-year-old Edward, too distracted on Christmas morning by his new toys to realize his mother is walking out on him and his father.

Being raised by a single dad doesn’t seem to be much of a hardship for Edward though. He knows it wasn’t his fault, and he moves on, taking care of his broken-up dad the best he can.

As Edward goes through his teenage years, he realizes he’s different from most other guys his age—that is to say, not so focused on girls.

I wanted to set my own course.

His father worries about him and sends him to “tutor” a former child beauty queen—one Miss Rosalie Hale.

Rosalie tells Edward like it is but doesn’t pressure him. She can understand where he’s coming from, and they strike up an unlikely but unbreakable platonic friendship.

"Edward, be yourself. So casual sex is not your thing; that's fine. That's honorable. But you're going to have to face a sex-filled world and do one of two things. One, you can own up to it, and when the subject comes up, as it always will, you can proudly call yourself a virgin. Like, 'Hi, my name is Edward Cullen and I am a hot as fuck, 9-inch-cocked-up self-proclaimed virgin."

We both howled at that. The dreamy weed made us burst into fits of wheezing laughter and arm slapping.

"Or, two, you can fake it," she said.

I snorted. I never said I was proud; there was no righteousness in my system. Sex was everywhere, sure; there was no hiding from it. I got it, everyone else was normal; I was not. I knew I was odd, but I didn't dress differently, I could carry a conversation. And so long as a girl was wearing clothes, I wasn't nervous. I was just me.

I wanted to tell her that, but I could barely form a sentence.

Rose spoke. "Everyone, everywhere, talks about sex like the weather, and you, with your…dear God, your beautiful face, and hair that women want to tug, you are the embodiment of their wants and their needs. How are you going to get past that? What have you done to those nubile young princesses who think you belong to them? And let me tell you Edward, they are possessive of you. I hear them talk. That's why I know about you. They want you."

We would become friends over the summer, figuring out who we were and who we were meant to be. And we had a kinship neither wanted to sacrifice to sex just to be like everyone else.

Rosalie Hale didn't lay waste to my dignity. She cultivated it.

She helps him realize what makes him different.

It took a stranger to pull it out of me, to make me think about it, put a name to it.

I was holding out, alright. I had a downright crazy, crazy desire. I didn't want to get my heart broken. I wanted to believe in the impossible.

I wanted a soul mate. I wanted someone to unlock the giant ball of love I kept reserved in my heart.

Now if that line doesn’t make you fall in love with this Edward, I don’t know what will. He’s one of my favorite Edwards of all time.

We follow Edward on his journey to find his soul mate (his snowflake). He is persistent and refuses to settle for anything less.

And once he finds her...a totally unexpected world opens up for him.

"I've just met the woman of my dreams."

"I want to do bad, bad things to her."

Horny Virginward emerges, and his inner monologue will make you laugh out loud.

Isabella Swan is quite an interesting character herself, from her dog named Bacon to her collection of rare spiders.

Be sure to check out this gem of a fic, and leave Denverpopcorn some love! We’re all crossing our fingers for an update soon!

California Dreamin' by Chocaholic123
1967. Summer stalked in like a lion that year, fierce and angry; looking for someone to eat. Among the hippies, free love and Vietnam, we were forced to grow up, whether we wanted to or not.  Rated M

The Boy At Table Seven by LyricalKris
Life for a young waitress can be pretty mundane. The highlight of Bella'sweek was the lunchtime visit from the three sexy mechanics from acrossthe street. Then one day there was a little boy at her table left alone.Rated: Fiction M

Review by Songster

I admit to being a bit like Bella in one, no, two important ways: love of Edward (duh) and a hatred of birthdays.  So when my dear friend Lyrical Kris told me that she wanted to write something for me as a birthday gift, I was all … not the birthday!!! and then, my brain caught up. Lyrical Kris words – for ME.  YESSSS. And thus was born The Boy at Table Seven and as usual, she did not disappoint.

Jessica, snickered. "Don't let my husband put you off, Bella. Come ogle with us. They'll make it worth your while."

"Oooh. Jess!" Tanya was bouncing in place. "There's a new one today."

Though she thought it was just a little creepy, Bella gave in to the urge to stare. The trio wore coveralls, and she deduced they must work at Hale Mechanics just up the block. As they got closer, she could see what the others were going crazy about. All three of them were good looking in that slightly dirty kind of way. "Who are they?"

"They're regulars. They come in at least once a week." Eric leaned in conspiratorially, pointing. "The big beefy one is Emmett McCarty. He's a flirt, but he's harmless." He sighed. "And tragically straight. He's the Jessica of their little group" He smirked at Jessica who rolled her eyes. "Though admittedly he's shacking up with the boss's daughter, not the boss. The blond is Jasper Whitlock. Likewise attached and quite the charmer."

"He's got a Southern drawl that will make your knees weak." Jessica fanned herself.

"And like Tanya said, that one," he pointed at the guy in the middle, "is brand new."

"Holy crap." They were at the door now, so Tanya dropped her voice to a whisper. "Newbie is edible."

And so it begins.  But there is a secret and a mystery that soon appears in the form of an adorable little boy who sits at table seven every day at the same time and disappears just as regularly, worrying good-hearted Bella.

Benjamin shifted so he was sitting up on his knees, leaning at the table so he could talk to her. "Daddy said everyone has a job. He has a job so he has a house so I can have my own room and dinner on the table. He said being a waiter is one of the worst jobs and you don't get paid butt-kiss." He paused and then clapped his hand over his mouth, giggling with abandon.

Bella smirked. "Do you mean bupkis?" she guessed.

I won’t spoil the mystery, but needless to say there is a connection that is soon discovered.  Our favorite duo has lots of obstacles to overcome, but in the end it is clearly worth the effort.

Remembering his text messages, how often he'd told her this last week exactly what he wanted, Bella felt emboldened. Though her heart was beating fast, she stepped up behind him, wrapping her arms around his waist. He cut off mid-word, his hands going to hers. Bella rested her head against his back, just breathing him in.

"You need to study, don't you?" His tone was soft, low - the exact opposite of helpful if he really wanted her to get back to studying.

She let her hands find his skin under his shirt. "You didn't come here to help me study."

He turned around, his hands at her waist, and he kissed her. There was more heat behind this kiss, and his hands quickly became more possessive, sliding up her back. "I just had to see you, that's all." He kissed her again. "I swear, I was trying to be good."

Bella found his belt loops and tugged his pants so that he walked a few steps forward, pressing her backward. "I don't want you to be good."

His breath stuttered, and he tilted his head to press a flutter of kisses to the skin of her neck. "What do you want?"

She sat on the bed, pulling him down with her so he was hovering over her. "You," she said, already breathless.

His eyes seemed to darken as he held her gaze for three long seconds. She reached up to run her fingers through his hair, and he buckled. His weight pressed her into the bed as he kissed her again.

And then there was this:

His lips were parted, his breath coming in hard, warm puffs against her cheek. He raised his hand slowly, running the tip of a single finger down the center of her chest then up, tracing the curve of first one breast, then the other. When he leaned in again to kiss her, his hand cupped her breast fully, his thumb rubbing over her nipple. "You're so beautiful."

Bella was out of words at that point. Her thoughts were cloudy, her voice reduced to mewls and whimpers. The enormity of the emotion she felt rendered her speechless. It was just so new and consuming.

That she loved this man.

That he loved her.

That he was hers and she was his and that nothing in the world had ever felt as right as this did.

She let the way her hands moved over his skin speak for her. As beautiful as he made her feel, he was just as stunning. She was instantly addicted to the warmth of his skin beneath her fingertips, the way his muscles flexed under her palm as he moved.

When she fell backward on the bed, craving his weight on her, their bodies moved together. He pinned her down with his hips, she pressed up against him. She could feel how hard he was, and it only stoked her desire. She wanted him. She didn't have the words to tell him, but she needed him.

Bella moved her hands down, pressing against the small of his back, pressing him closer against her, before she moved them down to cup his ass. This time, he was the one who whimpered as her fingers moved over him.

There is such a lovely relationship that develops between these two, who have some heavy life responsibilities to manage along the way. This Edward is a true-blue every day hero. That he is a hot as Hades mechanic, a bit rough around the edges and living his life the best way he can is icing on the cake. I love how Lyrical Kris developed this Bella. She is no shrinking violet who automatically defers to Edward. She thinks long and hard about the complications of a relationship with him and in the end determines that he’s worth it.

I encourage you all to read this lovely story with a tiny bit of angst, many heartwarming moments, major hotness and it’s complete!! Go read, now.

Departures by TheFicChick
"Every day for the rest of my life, I will wonder how kissing a virtual stranger goodbye could have felt like a hello." Rated M

Review by @Bebeninja

Bella is a flying out of Chicago to Seattle in the middle of winter, a week after Christmas.  The airport is packed with post-holiday travelers and those stranded from flight delays. Edward is on an EOD (military bomb squad) team and is on his way out on a tour of duty in Afghanistan.  He offers her a seat, and their story begins.

In their friendly conversation, they quickly cover topics of family, tantric sex, and women’s magazines.

"Well, since we've discussed family, hometowns, and your bedroom,

I'd say it's about time I asked your name." His smile is warm and I feel

something unfamiliar but not entirely unwelcome unfurl low in my belly.

They bond over Pearl Jam and other mutual music likes in their iPods.  And while their exchange is innocent at the start, it quickly becomes peppered with innuendo as they spend time together and really start to notice each other.

Breathtakingly green eyes, the jawline of a marble statue, eyelashes befitting

a starlet, long fingers, and he just used the word poetry. And just like that, I'm

aroused in an airport terminal.

When flights are delayed further, Edward asks her to breakfast. They eat, walk the terminal gift shops together, exchange personalized key chains, mark up a map with places they want to go, discuss public sex experiences, and Bella even takes off her shirt!

But despite all the sex talk, the UST isn’t overdone and in your face. TheFicChick possesses the unique ability to reveal character and develop a story through believable dialogue that gets you so comfortable with the characters, it’s like you’re sitting right next to them, chin on hands, listening to their conversation and nodding along.  Ok, maybe that’s just my fantasy.  But it’s still truth.  Their banter is playful, and the fact that it is so believable makes it all the more dreamy.

"You're like a Kennedy, aren't you?"

"I'm sorry?"

"Like, big family, all perfect, all beautiful."

He beams. "You think I'm beautiful?"

Warmth creeps up my neck, and I shuffle through my magazines so I have something to do with my hands. I do think he's beautiful, especially when he's smiling at me like that, and I want to kick myself for tipping my hand so spectacularly.

"You know what I mean."

"I know it takes one to know one, Bella Swan."

Through their conversations you get to know these characters so well that you feel what they feel before they can tell you what they’re feeling. You know when important things are happening.  You can feel the instant connection and building attraction.

"I think we've surpassed the stranger portion of the program, don't you?"

Edward considers me for a moment and glances away from my face and down to his shirt before his expression sobers, his eyes hooded. "Yes. I'd say we have." There is a faint scraping sound, and I look away from the intensity of his eyes to see that he's pushing and pulling on the red straw of his now-empty smoothie, thrusting it in and out of the Styrofoam cup.

The motion is erotically reminiscent of something else, and heat licks at my body.

By the time Bella’s flight is ready to go they don't want to say goodbye.

"If this were any other day, and if I weren't flying off to fiddle with bombs in the middle of the desert, I'd ask for your number."

I attempt to swallow against the lump that lodges itself firmly in my throat.

"If you weren't flying off to fiddle with bombs in the middle of the desert, I'd give it to you." My voice is barely more than a whisper.

They can’t help but kiss.  They exchange emails and he takes a picture of her with his phone. He writes immediately and they both can't stop thinking about each other.

This story was originally written as a O/S, and she was fiercely persuaded to continue it.  Because that’s what we do around here.  If you’re as good an author as TheFicChick, we butter you up with sweet, true words, and then demand more.

The bulk of the remaining chapters are flashbacks to the four months that passed between that day in the airport and the day Bella is sitting in traffic on her way to pick Edward up from his tour.  Things moved fast. They wrote each other, sharing more about themselves, flirting, discovering more about what they think of each other, and counting down the weeks until Edward is back stateside. Bella admitted “I suspect there's nothing about this that isn't somewhat strange, stranger. So how is it that it feels so normal?”

By the end of the first week, Edward was already asking, “ARE you still single? I thought I'd been working on changing that.”

Through a series of events, Bella met and became close to Edward’s family while he was away.  They began referring to each other as boyfriend/girlfriend.  Their words shifted from innuendo and flirting to outright plans to be naked together.

For reasons you will have to read about, they have a short window of time to be together upon Edward’s return before they are temporarily separated again.  Within a matter of days they’re exchanging I Love You’s.  And all I can say is their sweet, blessed reunion more than makes up for the long wait!  It sounds unrealistic, but the friendship and the trust that they’ve built with their words alone, and the way TheFicChick reveals their feelings with hers, makes you realize these two are meant to be together.  In fact, you long for this to happen.

Departures gives you everything you need in a fic in the perfect amounts: friendship, humor, UST, a little bit of drama to keep things interesting, and of course, romance.  It moves you, entertains you, makes you laugh, and yet, it’s so very original.  TheFicChick beautifully delivers all of these in a complete and tidy package of 10 chapters.

I can tell you that with over 300 fics under my belt, this has got to be in my top 20.  So, if you haven’t gotten to this one yet, you definitely need to join in on the flailing and read this story.  Go.  NOW!

The Art of Getting Fluffed by ChocolateSparrow
Like every professional, Edward Cullen needs the right tools for the job. But what happens when they just don't work anymore? Cue Bella Swan, an expert at being in the wrong place at the wrong time. The adventures of Bunny and Fluff. Rated M.

Reviewed by: VampiresHaveLaws

Anyone who knows me, knows I’m a sucker for anything tear-worthy. Usually this means angst, with a side of angst. The Art of Getting Fluffed, however, has me crying for a whole different reason—it’s hilarious. Like the genuine, I’m-never-getting-this-smile-off-of-my-face funny.

Meet Bunny: King of the industry we like to call porn, who has been having a little trouble getting big things to get bigger.

"I can't help it, it's like my dick needs to be wooed. Rosalie isn't doing it for me."

Enter Fluff: Unsuspecting fluffer who happens to be in the wrong place at the right time.

"What the actual fuck is happening right now?" I turn the handle, tugging on the sticking door.

"Keep saying fuck." His low honeyed voice drifts across the room.

I drop my hands and glare at the pervert draped on the couch, forcing my gaze level with his lust-lidded eyes, flickering between my chest and bare legs. "Are you serious? Stop doing that you absolute fucking weirdo!"

His reaction is to throw his head back, a guttural moan pouring from his throat as he palms his now fully erect cock from top to bottom. He stands at the end of the caress and stalks over to me.

"I knew Jasper would find me a winner. You're fucking perfect," he whispers, holding his wood like he's going to pole vault with it.

Needless to say, Fluff gets Bunny hopping again.

Unfortunately for him, she’s not who he thinks she is.

"I haven't found you a fluffer yet, Ed. Whoever that girl was, she wasn't your fluffer."

Oh.

My.

Fucking.

God.

After a series of unintentional run-ins (and some more intentional ones), none of this matters—the attraction is already there.

And this is where the fun really begins.

With lines such as: “Are they still casting for Fifty Shades of Grey Hair?" and “Got a crush on Long Dong Silver?” and “I haven’t been this excited since I filmed Titty Titty Gang Bang 3”, you don’t want to miss out on reading this one. It’ll have you laughing out loud. So if it’s time for church (you know, because who doesn’t hide their phone between the hymns?) or an impromptu trip to the library, it’s probably best to read this one at home. Or in loud areas. Mainly just read it.

On top of this being one of the funniest stories I have ever read, SparrowNotes24 and chocaholic123 are two of the nicest girls you could hope to meet in this fandom. They have time and a funny word for everyone. Love them.

XOXO

Since joining the Fandom I have had the chance to read thousand's of stories but a Dominant or Cocky Edward just sucks the life out of me. Making me want to read a story. So when this WIP updates appear in my inbox I stop everything to run and read and now I am telling you why......

7 Years ago Edward and Bella have a "Fuck-Fest Weekend" as Bella puts it. (Got to love a Bella that don't mince her words.)

Outside forces keep them apart for these 7 years and while they had their Lustful Weekend they conceived a child who Bella has kept hidden from anyone who isn't family or close friends.

Upon meeting again Edward plays the cool cat making out they don't know each other but when Bella escapes to the Ladies Room she is soon accosted by Edward who soon learns that Bella is not the same Naive Girl he once met.....

"I've missed watching you come," he growls lowly, as if reading my mind.

When I finally have my wits about me again, I flash him a grin of my own.

"You've missed watching me come? How about fucking me? Have you missed fucking me, Edward?"

For a split second he seems startled – uncertain as to how to respond. This isn't the Bella that he knows. But then he lets out a long groan and starts undoing his fly.

"Yes, Bella. Yes, I've missed fucking you. I've missed-"

I don't get to hear what that last thing he's missed about me is, because I wrap my hand around his thick cock and grip and crush so hard that when I finally let go he drops to his knees with a high-pitched whimper.

For a couple of endless minutes, he can't speak or look up.

After a while, I snort and gingerly climb off of the sink, momentarily pitying the cleaning lady once again because now she has to clean off my arse-print.

With Edward still on his knees on the floor, I circumvent him and adjust my dress, smoothing out the wrinkles, turning this way and that in front of the mirrors to make sure I look presentable. I smooth down my hair and then open up my black clutch and pull out a hundred dollar bill - which I drop into the cleaning lady's dish.

Hot damn! A Woman scorned huh? (I love how she remembered about the poor cleaning lady)

As the story unfolds we learn about their young daughter, Ellie ~ Elizabeth London. How Bella had named her after Edward's deceased Mother and where she was conceived.

Edward starts to unravel who has been keeping them apart and all he wants to do is be in his daughters life, flying backwards and forwards between London and New York. Elizabeth missing him when he leaves only to ring him at 3am when he's back in the States. (What 6 year old knows about time difference?)

Rose is part baddie in this story and I only say part because she thought she was doing the right thing at the time where as Carlisle (Father not Dad) is pretty nasty and has known of Elizabeth's existence from the beginning. (I seriously want to put a hit out on him)

I have come to love a lot of the characters in this story and Yay! An Alice who isn't a shop-a-holic or a bossy boots. Emmett is Edward's best friend/ bodyguard who just can't understand how Esme, Edward's Aunt can beat him in volleyball.

Renee has got to be one of the best I have ever read, she is always making Bella think about her decisions and has words of wisdom for her daughter......

I'm scrubbing the dishes and loading them into the dishwasher (I may actually be throwing them in there) while my eyes wander periodically to the ceiling above me. I wonder what in the world is taking them so long. Edward went up forty-five minutes ago to tuck in Ellie.

"Careful, Darling!" My mum chuckles, nudging me out of the way. She coaxes a dish out of my hand before handing me a clean kitchen towel. "You're about to break all me dishes! Why don't you clean the table instead, yeah?"

I quietly acquiesce and wipe down the table, putting everything away in the fridge. Once the last bits are put away, I rest my forehead against the fridge door, hoping its coolness will temper my heat.

I feel my mum's hand on my shoulder. "Bella, Love…" she murmurs tenderly. "It's going to be alright."

"How can you know that, Mum?" I whisper back shakily.

"Because I can feel it, Bella," she whispers emphatically. "And I can see it. My goodness, Love, you can't be blind to the way that man is with that child! He absolutely worships her!" She chuckles.

"He treated me that way for a short while, and still managed to leave."

"But he came back."

I draw in a deep breath and let it out silently. "Yes, he came back. But I won't allow him to play that game with Elizabeth."

She doesn't speak right away. "Bella…I'm going to tell you something that I'm sure you already know. The love we feel for a child, Bella, is…so different, such a different bond to that we can ever feel for someone else."

Patty Rose is a regular updater and even spoils us with "Special Updates" She calls them a "Thank You Update" for voting for her on the Lemonade Stand. (Sheesh! I will take anything)

So don't let me hold you up..... Go read and enjoy the rest of this ride. I know I can't wait to read the rest of this wonderful story.

Where Roads Converge by FluffyLiz
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/9061275/1/Where-Roads-Converge

A homeless boy, hitch-hiking in the snow, a woman on her own, running from an abusive relationship. Is she crazy to stop, or are their paths destined to cross? Can this mismatched pair find sucour and salvation together, or will their pasts intrude and drive them apart? AH, rated M

I’m doubly delighted for my friend, the absolutely delightful FluffyLiz, as this is the second win for Where Roads Converge as Fic of the Week.  Last time it won, WRC was just starting out on the road, but now, as it nears its journey’s end, many have traveled it too, so this is for you, that fortunate minority who still have the pleasure of reading this story, stretching out enticingly ahead of you.

So, what’s it all about?  Edward is a poor and homeless young man who Bella literally picks up where roads converge in a cold, snowy England. Now, that is the simple meaning to the title of this tale.  For me, the real story is the converging of the individual roads that Edward and Bella were on until that fateful moment.  Although, they were going in the same direction, and both running away from their current plights, their life journeys, up to this point, couldn’t have been more divergent.

Bella is a fabulous, strong, wonderfully kind woman, ten years Edward’s senior, but you know, I forgot about the age difference even before they did; as sadly, Edward is aged and matured far beyond his years by his frankly horrific life.  Bella is the perfect person to help him put his nightmare behind him, to help him walk away from his dreadful past, but unfortunately, when I say nightmare, I mean that in more than one sense of the word.  Edward has traveled many roads, and lived a thousand lives, in his short but sad and sorrowful existence, and perhaps that’s what makes Bella all the more perfect to help him, as she has also lived through more than her fair share of drama, and trauma, too.

Edward thinks of Bella as an angel sent to save him, not only because she saved his life and gave him refuge, but because she gives him hope for his future.  Her tender care allows his exquisite soul to emerge and shine, and although he doesn’t realise it yet, she is blossoming, too.  I grant you, he is an unlikely knight in shining armour, more like young man in leather jacket astride a push-bike, but he does the job just as well and saves Bella right back.

The sweet, gentle way the relationship develops between these two beautiful
souls is a joy to behold, and we see that exemplified in this heartfelt passage from chapter 9…

Bella wearily made her way along the hallway to Edward's bedroom, his heartrending cries spurring her on, as she jogged the last few feet and threw open the door. She wasted no time in going to him.

Quickly discarding her robe and slippers and pulling back the covers, she climbed
into bed beside him where he lay on his back. His hands were locked tight around
his hair as he shouted his despair, but as soon as Bella put a gentle hand on his
chest, his cries became whimpers, his hands falling away from his head.

"Shhh, it's okay, Edward, you're safe," she whispered, pulling herself closer to him
as his arms crept around her and held her tight. She moved her hand in soft circles
over his heart whilst continuing to murmur meaningless but comforting noises, until he finally quieted. A few minutes later, his even breathing let Bella know that
he had fallen into a deeper sleep, and she stilled her hand.

A part of her was disappointed that Edward's subconscious was still tormenting him so violently, having bared his soul so dramatically that night. However, she
couldn't say she was surprised, as it was inevitable that the events he had described
would have left an indelible and terrifying mark on him. It would probably take
months, if not years, of therapy before he could find a way to come to terms with it.
-
After Edward had queried Bella's kindness, she had been unable to answer, merely
smiling and shaking her head. How could she tell him that she could do nothing
else but help him? How could she explain that, in three short days, she had grown
to care more for this beautiful, but troubled, young man than anyone else she had
ever known outside of her family? How could she admit that she would do whatever
it took to keep him with her for as long as he was willing to stay?...

…And without it even occurring to her that she should probably now get up and return to her room, Bella settled down beside him and fell asleep.

Had they been observed, it would have appeared as if they were connected by an
invisible string, because, even in their sleep, as one would turn, so the other would follow. Each time, they would end up spooning, chest to back, as the one behind would drape an arm over the one in front.
-
In this way, wrapped in each other's warm embrace, they both passed the remainder of the night in dreamless slumber.

Where Roads Converge is written in third-person narrative, showcasing the perfect literary presentation for this intricate and unique story.  With this medium, FluffyLiz masterfully presents multiple points of view, and the many facets of all the fascinating characters woven into the story line; she has a lovely way of telling the story; she makes it seem effortless.  Ooh, and I’ll be remiss if I didn’t mention her imagery; it’s as though her words are hotwired to my inner eye as I can picture every scene vividly.  She conveys the emotions of the characters so powerfully I’m left with no choice but to empathise, cheer, smile, and yes, on occasion, shed a tear.  The UST is palpable but there is an eventual, err…satisfactory resolution of said UST and yes, for those inquiring minds that must know – Edward has a recovery time in keeping with his 19 years.  I’m not saying what feelings those particular scenes elicit. *blushes*

In a nutshell, this story is the dog’s bollocks – if you want to know what that
means, go read Where Roads Converge.

When You Least Expect It by Kare831
A broken man hires a broken single mother as his personal chef. As time wears on, she becomes so much more. A tale of what happens when you least expect it. Rated M

Reviewed by Jenny Leonard

There are many stories of Edward as a actor, but this one is my favorite so far.  There are the usual cast of characters in this story. C/E, J/A, Charlie and E/R in this story, but the main focus is Bella and Edward's journey.  Edward has gone through a very public break up with his long time live-in girlfriend, and actress.  Bella and her young son were abandoned by her husband.

The story is written from both points of view. The main being Bella's, but when we need to hear Edward's it is there.

Bella sees her place as his chef and tries to maintain her distance.  She has no qualms being friendly towards him while keeping it professional.

The morning of the big premiere, I arrived early to find him sitting on the sofa in the backyard with a cigarette in his mouth and a whiskey bottle on the table in front of him.
He's having a bad day and it's not even eight a.m. yet.

I pulled out my mug and another for Edward. Tea was a step up from whiskey.
"Is that for him?" Eric asked as I poured in the milk and added sugar.
I nodded.
Thankfully, I'd paid attention and knew the way he liked his tea. I pulled out some biscotti I'd made and wrapped it in a napkin and set it on a tray.

"Maybe you can talk to him," Eric mused. "You are slightly outside his inner circle and can offer an unbiased opinion."
"No offense, Eric, but my opinion is that it's none of my business. I was hired to be a personal chef not a therapist. I'll stick to what I know if you don't mind."

This is ultimately a love story above all else. It is a slow burn, but when these two finally admit their feelings verbally to each other there are fireworks.  Edward not only falls in love with Bella, but her 3 year old son as well.  As in any story and relationship there are hiccups along the way.
This story is now complete, but there are outtakes in the works.  If you want to read a beautifully written story about a man  who a woman and child came into his life and he freely gave of himself to them, than this is the story for you.

The Man in the Long Black Coat by CrackedFic
"Why'd you have to kill him?" she screamed. "What did he ever do to you?" The man scooped her into his arms and headed for the door. "I killed him," he said, "because I was hungry." AU/Vampward Rated M

Review by: Jansails

Right from the start, we learn this Edward is a loner, a nomadic vampire with a taste for human blood and has no remorse. Subtlety is not Edward's suit, the long black coat is a red flag, and it adorns his tall, lanky, yet muscular form, as a visual "dead man walking" calling card.

Edward enters Forks with an arrogance born of the superiority his nearly indestructible and super-hero physique gives him, along with complete contempt for the weak human minds he can read. With his first act of violence, Edward is interrupted by Bella, screaming obscenities at him, while alerting him to her mind-blowing fragrant blood, delectable body, and silent mind.

Despite Edward's brutal violence, he and Bella become involved and she tries to tame him somewhat. Unfortunately, both Bella's father Charlie and the Volturi have observed Edward's activities and are looking for him. Charlie's efforts cause him to become a target of the Volturi and Edward has to fight off rampaging vampires to keep Bella and her father safe.

Read no further if the reader is unwilling to possibly lose canon characters or accept Edward as dark, vicious, and murderous. There are some interesting differences to Stephenie Meyer's canon vampire lore and Bella has some tricks up her sleeve, too. However, if the reader enjoys a supernatural thrill ride with explosive surprises, The Man In The Long Black Coat packs a satisfying punch! Check out this excerpt:

Edward was not a man who lost his cool easily, but he was coming close. He felt like his world had been twisted inside out. Only days ago, he had been minding his own business, intent on doing whatever he had to do to get by, whatever he had to do to satiate the monster inside him. But now he found himself infatuated with a strange girl, stuck in a town where people were starting to notice him, and trying to figure out a way to dodge a small-town police chief.

"Fuck," he muttered as he hurried toward the exit. He was putting himself in danger for no good reason and he knew he had to stop it as soon as possible.
A hand grabbed his as he neared the door. He snarled and prepared to strike, fed up. This was it. He was going to slaughter whoever it was and skip town, never to be seen again.
"Stop. Don't go."
He saw her, but he did not believe it. Bella Swan held onto his hand. He wanted to wrench his hand away. He wanted to hold her hand more tightly. He wanted to forget he had ever come to this place and he wanted to stay there forever.
"Uh," he said.

She looked over at her father, who was sipping watered-down punch and huddled in a corner with the mayor. Edward turned up the collar on his coat and ran his hand through his hair.

"I can keep him busy," she said, "if you promise to wait for me outside."
She looked into his eyes with the kind of confidence he hadn't seen in her before. She lifted her eyebrows and waited for a response, the smirk returning.
"OK," he said. "I'll be around back."

He walked outside, certain that he would not stop. He would walk until he was far enough away to run, and then he would run to the next town, and the next, and the next. He wouldn't rest until he was halfway across the country.

He sat down at a picnic table that fronted a pond behind the dance hall. He waited, despite himself. He breathed in the air, taking in the smells of northwest Washington. He thought that he didn't do that often enough, appreciating the good things his existence had to offer.

What am I doing? he thought. He got up to leave. Bella approached him.
"We need to talk," she said.

Edward didn't trust himself to reply, so he said nothing.
"I'm. I didn't mean. Uh, I guess I'm sorry about the other day," she said. She looked at her feet, back up at him. "I shouldn't have yelled at you like that."
Music drifted out an open window. The Doors. Someone was on an old-school kick.

Bella broke first. She looked up at him, her eyes glistening, her pale skin almost blue under the full moon.

"Dance with me," she said. She looked away. She bit her lip and turned back toward him. She took his hand in hers and squeezed.
Edward did not reply, his face like a mask.
She pulled him to her, and began to dance as a Van Morrison song played.

We were born before the wind
also younger than the sun

Bella laid her head on his chest, and he breathed her in. He placed his hands on her hips and closed his eyes, consuming her in his thoughts. He felt her heart pounding, her blood coursing through her veins, an oncoming tsunami.
He opened his eyes to see her bare neck inches from his mouth. His salivary glands reacted; his mouth watered.

"Bella," he said.
She held him tighter. "Shh," she whispered. "Just hold me."

He held her tighter. He put his head against hers, his mouth tantalizingly close to her neck. He nuzzled his cheek to hers, his nose behind her ear. He breathed in again and felt his inner demon coming out to play. He opened his mouth and bared his teeth, running them slowly over her carotid artery. He stopped and ran his tongue over it, savored the warmth as his teeth ran over it again, less gently this time.

Bella moaned softly. "Yes," she whispered. "Do it."

Stubborn Love by VampiresHaveBeagles
She'll lie and steal and cheat, and beg you from her knees. She'll make you think she means it this time, tearing a hole in you. But I still love her. I don't really care. A story from iambeagle and VampiresHaveLaws.

Reviewed by AWhiteBlankPage & SusanQ

Stubborn Love is a collab between iambeagle and VampiresHaveLaws, inspired by the soulful Lumineers song by the same title. If you aren’t familiar with it, it’s time to have a listen.

She'll lie and steal, and cheat, and beg you from her knees
Make you think she means it this time
She'll tear a hole in you, the one you can't repair
But I still love her, I don't really care

Told from Edward’s perspective, this is the story of a relatable boy who falls fast and hard for a secretive, manipulative girl who’s out of reach.

...my eyes drift to the girl who jumps down from the bed of the truck, legs long and skin pale, hair a tangled mess as she tilts up her face to accept the last rays of the sun before it retreats into inky black.

She sways slightly on her feet, but she has a smile at her mouth, one that curls just slightly with eyes closed, like she's privy to the best kind of kept secret.
.
.
.
"What's your name?" I ask after a moment, running a hand over my chin because I don't know what else to do.

"Tell me yours first, and I'll think about telling you mine," she answers with that same secret smile from before.

From the beginning, she’s equal parts flirtatious and unattainable. She leads him on, he falls for it while telling himself that he knows full well what she’s doing and what he’s getting himself into. Seeing her with another guy is just the beginning.

He walks away, and she jumps on his back, and I can't stand looking at her face any longer; I hate the smile she wears, the one I didn't put there.

My chest feels tight and my fists clench as I turn away.

I am a stupid boy who wills this sky to burn.

I am nothing despite wanting to be something.

Bella pulls Edward close after she pushes him away. But we get the feeling she wants...or needs him more than she lets on. Just when we think Edward has had enough, Bella will disarm him and draw him back in.

I groan and she makes a sound, something impatient and small that feels needy and big as she climbs over my lap and straddles me. She pushes us torso to torso, and I like her like this, all instinct, all girl. Her lips are warm and soft and demanding, and my breath rushes through my nose when she puts more force behind her lips.

Bella’s troubled, heartbreaking past is just beginning to surface. Edward sees her as both broken and strong. He recognizes that he wants something from her but he can’t figure out how to get it or even what that something is. Since the first time he sees her, she dominates his every thought and he’s desperate to understand, as well as to protect her.

I know I could give her false assurances like her mother. Turn her down like her father. But I do neither.

With just the right amount of angst and an abundance of UST, Stubborn Love finds the perfect balance to draw you in. Every chapter will leave you wanting more, rooting for the often unlikeable, yet charismatic girl and the boy who probably deserves better.

The imagery is gorgeous, the writing is captivating. Kim and Meg write an emotion-evoking story that will have you simultaneously frustrated and smiling.

In Pursuit by Sarge’s Girls
A normal night out changes everything for two innocent sisters, who stumble upon something that will change their lives forever. Two brave U.S. marshals have to keep them hidden and keep them safe. How far are they willing to go to do what's right? Are the consequences worth it all? AH/Canon Couples/Rated M

Reviewed by Lost In Fanfiction

In Pursuit, the hot new story written by the duo, Sarge’s Girls, is a fantastic story, full of suspense, action and the building desire of two vulnerable sisters and the marshal's who've been entrusted to their care.

This story begins with carefree twenty- five year old, fraternal twin sisters, Mary (Alice)  and Marie (Bella), witnessing a murder.  Unbeknownst to them, they witness a mob killing.  If they want to live and do the right thing, they are forced into hiding until they are able to testify against the notorious mobsters.

As a special request to his friends, Angela and Ben, and with the help of Uncle Al, Edward’s lieutenant and longtime family friend, Edward and Jasper, are brought in to hide and protect the young women for the duration.

The girls, who are traumatized and terrified, start a tumultuous and very dangerous journey with Edward, and Jasper.

Jasper Whitlock had been very calm, very friendly when he'd shaken our hands and said hello. He'd made us instantly feel at ease with two strange men in the small motel room. His southern accent had flowed like warm honey and...as odd as it seemed...felt like the hugs my mother used to give us when we were young.
Edward, on the other hand, was darker – in personality and in looks. He'd been gruff, just like Angela had said, and almost impersonal. Not impolite, really, just professional and distant. When he'd instructed us to listen to whatever he and Jasper told us, his voice had softened almost imperceptibly, but he'd still been slightly intimidating.

This is the second amazing collaboration for these authors.  I was impressed with their first story and couldn’t wait to dive into this one. The authors alternate writing points of view, Jenny writes Bella and Deb writes Edward. However, you would never know it because both writers are equally eloquent and talented.

For a split second, I saw the real Marie. Not the scared and tired girl, not the girl that carried too much guilt, but the woman that probably took life by the horns and shoved it around like she wanted it. It was sexy – and a little unnerving that I found it that damn sexy – but it was the facts all the same. She raised her own eyebrow up at me after checking the weapon and securing the safety.
I chuckled. "Thatta girl."

The UST between Edward and Bella has intensified with each chapter.  Based on the exploits in Coming Home (their first, and very successful collaboration) and the M rating.  I have realistic expectations that these ladies will deliver some steamy, lemony goodness as the story unfolds.

There was a giant fucking elephant in the garage with us, but I was an even bigger chicken-shit for ignoring it. I knew it as she stared up at me for a moment. I could even feel it pulling me to her, but I simply dropped my cigarette butt and smashed it with my shoe. My cowardly ass was saved when the inside door opened again.

Just reading the musings of two single men forced into living with and protecting two single girls is fun enough.  Then throw in some yoga and...

Yoga. Fuck my life, the girls were doing yoga. Again. They'd started doing it the day after Marie's...er, Bella's meltdown. Every other day, we were forced to listen to and watch some overly happy, extremely relaxed chick coach the girls through thirty minutes of the most obscene positions I'd ever seen. The first time we'd witnessed it, Jasper had destroyed a can of Coke in his bare hand, spilling that shit everywhere, and I'd practically burned the hell out of my dick dropping a spoonful of hot oatmeal onto my lap.

Bracing myself, I opened the door. It was impossible not to look to the living room floor once inside the house. Two very fit girls, two sets of tight clothes, and two pairs of legs able to bend into positions that seemed inconceivable were crouched on the floor. I'd known exotic dancers that couldn't even do that shit.

I let out a breath, stalking quickly through the room and into the kitchen. Slamming the paper down onto the counter, I smirked when Jasper jumped. Fucker was failing at his stealthy way of watching them. Not one word on his crossword puzzle was for real, I'd have been willing to bet.

"Mm, thank you," Jasper muttered, drawling out the last word, which caused me snort into a laugh. His eyes locked with mine. "Gotta love that Downward Facing Dog..."

I’m so excited to see how this plays out. Will Edward and Jasper be able to keep these girls safe?  Will their attraction for the girls cloud their judgement?  Or will the men be able to remain professional and objective enough to keep Bella and Alice safe until trial? And, if so, what happens then?

Al watched her leave us and then spun his head around to face me. "That's one beautiful girl." Al leaned against the car, facing us, but his focus was on Jasper. "Talk to me, Whitlock. Tell me about how you're bending a few rules in there."

Chapter 9 was just posted on Sunday, but these ladies had me sucked in at chapter 1. From day one, they drew me in with their characters and made me care about what happens to them.  I’m not the least bit surprised it won Fiction of the Week.

If you shy away from works in progress I think you are safe with this one. Sarge’s Girls consistently post meaty chapters every Sunday.

Given the number of followers, reviews and obvious love for this story I’m definitely not the only one who looks forward to Marshalward each Sunday.

Review by Mizzez Pattinson

If you've read Edward’s Eternal previous fics, then you know the excitement you felt when she started posting this new Hockeyward story. Anything Edward's Eternal writes is pure genius and her Edwards are goose-bump inducing and swoon-worthy!!

We start with Bella, a newly-divorced single mom to Jake. After her husband, William, runs out on them, they start over, tumbling Bella into uncharted territory. Being a single mother is challenging, however, being a single hockey mom is a whole other universe – Trust me, I am one! The uncertainty and roller coaster of emotion is captured well in the first couple of paragraphs.

I trailed behind Jake who seemed to know where he was going and walked into the arena. Nervously, I looked around. Aside from sitting in the stands, I had never been part of this world. It was a father and son thing, I had been informed. William took him to practices and all the team stuff. I was expected to show up and cheer occasionally, bake vast amounts of cookies for the bake sales, and kiss and bandage any small scuffs that occurred. William was always very firm about that, as it was simply how it was done. He was all about doing things the way they should be done, but now it was just me.

We start off when Bella and Edward’s lives collide with one another…literally. Emmett is Edward’s son and nearly bulldozes into Bella at the hockey rink. Enter Mr. Firm Chest a.k.a Edward to the rescue. I think he sneaks his way into Bella’s mind and heart just as quick as it took Em to nearly knock her over!! This Edward made me swoon and this was only chapter one!! As we progress, Bella and Edward form a friendship because of their boys newly formed bond. Sexual tension and assumptions fill the next few chapters, but the locker room starts to heat up as these two find themselves alone in a heated situation.

I giggled at how flustered he had become. Without thinking, I leaned up and kissed his cheek; his skin warm beneath my lips.
"It's okay, Edward. I had sort of figured that part out on my own. Alice might have mentioned you were rusty at this," I teased him gently.
His hand touched his cheek where I had kissed him.
"Oh she did, did she? I'm not that rusty, I'll have you know."
""No?"
He moved, bringing us even closer so now his firm chest was flush against mine; my heartbeat quickening at the feel of him pressed into me. Once again, his warm breath floated over my face. His hand dropped from my neck, the coolness of the cloth disappearing as he leaned forward, both hands now holding my hips as he stared at me.
"No. I'm not. In fact, we're gonna do things a little different, Bella."
"Oh?" My voice squeaked at him, every sense I had suddenly awake and yearning.
"Normally, I'd take you out and we'd both spend the evening wondering."
"W… wondering?"
His voice dropped even further. "You'd be wondering if I was going to try and kiss you at the end of the night, and I'd be wondering if you'd let me."
"We're not going to do that?" I whispered; my eyes locked with his.
"No," he stated firmly, "we're not."
And then his lips were on mine.

If you have read any of Edwards Eternal’s other fics you know that she does not disappoint. I am excited to see where this date will take them, and what happens with their future. How will they make out with two kids in the mix? Will Edward or Bella’s ex’s come into play? We are only eight chapters in, so I am sure that we have a lot more in store for us!!

Contractually Bound by LyricalKris
She'd cost him everyone he'd ever loved. Surely a few months of marriage wasn't too high a price for her to pay in compensation.  Fiction M

Reviewed by: Livie79

In March 2010, a new story posted called Contractually Bound. I dove right in and by the end of the first chapter I was hooked. I would check my inbox religiously looking for an update, because it was one of those stories. The kind where you think you’ll die if you don’t find out what happens next. But when one month turned to two, then more than a year passed, I was pretty sure I actually would die before I ever found out what happened next.

Fast forward to April 2013. I was scanning through my emails and what do I see? An update for Contractually Bound. I nearly fell out of my chair. I think my response was along the line of akshdakhsgdja. And while that particular email wasn’t an update, it was still amazing news: LyricalKris was adopting the story and completing it.

I’ve always enjoyed LyricalKris’s stories. She writes drama, angst, and complicated characters beautifully. It’s why I knew she wouldn’t disappoint with the continuation of Contractually Bound, because this story encompasses all of those things and more.

Bella works at the diner and lives the small, dingy apartment attached to it. It’s obvious from the beginning that her life hasn't turned out exactly how she’d planned. But with an acceptance letter from U-DUB and plans to relocate in the near future, things were finally looking up. Well, that is until Edward Cullen barged back into her life and flipped her world upside down.

They have history. A history that has turned Edward in a bitter jerk. He would rather cut his arm off than have anything to do with her. But he needs her help, and as much as he’s loathe to do, he goes to her. Under no uncertain terms, however, does he give her any false ideas about where he stands or how he feels.

"In two weeks' time, I'll take you on a quiet picnic lunch and tell you how, now that we've reconnected, I could never let you go." Edward found he had to swallow down bile as he spouted off his carefully planned lie.

"Why are you giving this to me now?"

He leaned forward, his hands again resting on the sticky table, but he tried to ignore it. This was important, and he wanted to make certain that he was very clear. He waited until Bella raised her eyes from the small gold band to meet his gaze before he spoke. "Because I don't want to confuse the lines, Bella. This is an arrangement—a contract—nothing more. This is a small town and we will have to be seen in public for this to be believable, not to mention family dinners and so on, but I want to make it clear—" he leaned even closer to her and brought up his right hand to grip her chin "—you mean absolutely nothing to me."

OUCH! Why is he there? Why would he want to enter into any kind of arrangement with Bella when he obviously hates her? I’ll tell you why, because of one person: his mother, Esme.

Bella let out a breath. "Mom said she's really frail."

Edward could only nod his head sharply in response; he didn't like to think about Esme's physical well-being... her physical health was already a hopeless cause. Right now his focus remained solely on how his mother was doing emotionally, which meant ensuring her happiness. That was all any of them could worry about anymore. Even so, he also knew that some small part of him hoped that if he could make her happy enough, make up for staying away for so long, then maybe God would grant them all a miracle.

What would ensure Esme’s happiness above all else?  You guessed it. She wants Edward and Bella to reconcile before she dies. Edward happened to overhear this private conversation between Esme and Renee and it set the wheels in motion for him to give her exactly what she wants, or at least give the appearance.

And so it began. A fake marriage was born and all the complications, drama, and heart hurty angst you’d expect is delivered with each chapter. As secrets are revealed about Edward and Bella’s previous relationship―and why things turned out the way they did―his resolve is tested over and over again to hold on to his hate.

Even after he realizes maybe he was wrong, that everything was not as it seemed, it doesn’t take away the fear. Because no matter how much he tries to convince himself otherwise, he still loves her. And that terrifies him.

"You understand that at this point, it's you - only you - who's making us both miserable," she said.

Edward blew out a breath. "I know that," he admitted quietly.

"Then why-"

"Because I can't like you. I don't know how!" The words bubbled up and out like a volcano exploding, all terrible, burning, destructive fire. "Because this is easier than losing you again. It makes me an asshole, and I hate it. I hate hurting you. You can't imagine how much it hurts, but it's the lesser of two evils, because if I don't hate you, I don't have a choice except to love you! I can't do that again. I can't!" He was shouting by the time he was done, breathing raggedly.

Oh, my heart. He’s so broken, so angry, and so utterly miserable. The lines are constantly blurred as Edward and Bella are hurtled toward Esme’s final days. Will Edward give in to his feelings and truly reconcile with Bella before Esme dies? Is Bella even interested after the awful way he’s treated her? Will they get their happily ever after?

Just as I was in 2010, I need to know what happens next. I need to know if these beautifully broken people can put back the pieces of their lives before it’s too late. Anyone who isn’t reading this amazing story needs to do so ASAP. Then we can all stalk our inboxes together. I promise, you won’t regret a single second of losing yourself in this story.

Stolen by Rochelle Allison
He stole her heart, and then he stole her father's fortune. Love and forgiveness are nice concepts, but highly improbable. Right? Drama, romance, action, and a heavy sprinkling of the good stuff. Fiction M

Reviewed by: FFpassion - Irene

When I was asked to write the rec for this weeks fic of the week I had a little panic attack.
How was I going to do justice to Rochelle's Allison words? I love her work. I love the way she can take your heart from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows.

They vow to make the most of their holiday by sleeping in, drinking lot's and having fun. While enjoying the sun and having a few drinks with her sister and cousins, Bella first comes into contact with Edward...

I cannot tell you how happy I was the last update was told from Edward's POV.

And we thank you, FFpashion, for such a wonderful write up. It's readers like you that keep us going week to week! So much love to you!

When I was asked to write the rec for this week's fic of the week, Not the Marrying Kind (NTMK), I was thrilled. Bestscentever and I have been on a long fic journey together, her as writer and me as beta, since we were randomly paired up by Project Team Beta a few years back, so it's exciting to tell you a little bit about why I love NTMK.

The story starts with Rosalie, Bella's business partner and sister, trying to convince Bella to go on a blind date with Edward (Roaslie's future brother-in-law). That date is the beginning of an up and down and twisted tale of two people in love... and lust... who desperately want to be with each other... but on their own terms.

And it's those terms, those very incompatible terms, that are really getting in the way of things.

Edward, business owner and brother to Emmett, is struggling with a lifetime's dose of motherly advice about relationships and women and a longheld belief that he is incapable of being faithful to any woman. Throughout his adult life, he's always been okay with this, skipping from woman to woman as he saw fit... until he met Bella.

Bella, on the other hand, is a true romantic. She wants the whole package. The committed relationship. The happy marriage. Basically what Rosalie and Emmett have. And she deserved it, dammit.

So, when she meets Edward, she thinks she's got it in the bag. He's smokin' hot, fun to be with, and wants her just as badly as she wants him.

Except for those pesky terms.

Edward begins to question everything he's ever believed, and Bella's miserable and wondering if she should give in. And just when Bella decides to take matters into her own hands... things fall apart, and send them both into a tailspin.

And back to revisit those terms again. This is where it really gets complicated... and probably where you're going to want to KILL Edward for being a complete and utter dick.

Throw in a home break-in, a security camera scandal, a crazy dose of UST, and a load of miscommunication and you've got two very frustrated people.

Of course, the thing they don't lack is chemistry. It's off the charts, and has been since the first minute they meet on that blind day in chapter one. Here's a little taste:

Edward stopped before he was touching her, but Bella moved closer and reached her hand out to touch him. He sucked his stomach in slightly as her hand brushed the V above his hipbones, sending a shock through him.

His skin was hot against her hand, and she heard the quick intake of his breath. Edward's body was breathtaking. He was lean with hard, sleek, defined muscles that Bella wanted to explore with her fingertips. The towel sat low on his hips and she rubbed her thumb over the trail of dark hair on his stomach.

"You're killing me, Bella," Edward said, his voice low and gravelly.

Fortunately, things are finally looking up for our star-crossed, ill-communicating lovers. As the story nears its end, I know you'll love where bestscentever is taking us. Fortunately for me, I get to take a peek first.

If you haven't checked out Not the Marrying Kind, definitely do. It's a fun read, even if some of the themes are a bit heavy, and I know you'll love it!

I love this story and hope many of you will come to love it as well.  WRC takes place in England, and brings us a 29 yo Bella, and a 19 yo Edward.

They are both escaping from different situations in their lives, when fate makes their paths cross.   On one of the coldest nights, during a terrible storm, we find Bella running away from an abusive relationship.  During a stop for gas and coffee, she sees a young man, asking for help, for a ride.. their eyes lock for a moment, but he realizes she is scared and doesn’t approach her.  Later on she sees him walking on the highway, realizing, that if she doesn’t stop and help him, he will must surely die.  After struggling, deciding what to do, she stops, and their story begins.

Despite her pain and underlying tiredness, Bella's interest was immediately piqued, as she watched the boy speak softly to each person, then meekly accept their obvious rejection with a polite nod and a 'thank you' before moving on to the next one. There were slim pickings at this time of night, and he was quickly running out of options. She found herself fascinated by the mini soap opera playing out before her, knowing she needed to move before he got to her, but seemingly incapable of doing anything but wait for the inevitable.

From where she sat, Bella couldn't see his face, but she noted that he was tall and slim—perhaps a little too thin—but with broad shoulders and long, dark hair, streaked with fading blue and magenta, falling to his shoulder blades. He wore tight, rather grubby Levis which adhered to him, emphasising his long, long legs. Paired with the jeans, he wore a black, long-sleeved thermal shirt, and gripped in his left hand was what looked like a short, biker-style, black leather jacket. He had a large duffel bag slung over one shoulder, but, despite the plummeting temperature outside, appeared to possess no cold weather clothing or a proper coat. Finishing off his outfit, he wore a pair of very shabby-looking black Nikes, which looked like they would be as effective at keeping his feet warm and dry as a pair of flip-flops. She hoped he had a car parked outside, but suspected he was actually trawling for a lift.

Bella took in all this just before he finally turned to survey the opportunities on her side of the café. As he did so, her pupils dilated and her nostrils flared in a primal response over which she had absolutely no control.

Despite the slightly greasy, multi-coloured hair, the multiple silver rings piercing one ear from top to bottom, the small, dark-stoned stud in his nose and the oddly contrasting, dark copper stubble which blurred the line of what she instinctively knew was a sharply chiselled jaw, the only thought which sprang immediately to mind was, so beautiful, but so very sad.

She knew that, no matter how long she lived, the face of this striking young man would haunt her dreams, both waking and sleeping. Too thin as he was, there was something positively Byronic about him… a kind of consumptive feverishness in his glittering jade eyes and pale, pale skin which, nevertheless, held two spots of livid colour across his high, sculpted cheekbones.

His wide, limpid eyes swept across her own face, focussing, in stages, on her full, slightly parted lips, on the purple and red swelling across her cheek and nose, and then, finally, on her striking brown eyes. His gaze was intense, and Bella found herself incapable of looking away. As he zeroed in on her injury, his expression morphed into a frown and then, rather shockingly, turned into a look of such complete and utter defeat, that she had to tear her eyes from his face or weep for him. Even as she dropped her gaze, she saw him move, and when she looked back up, he had turned and was walking away towards the exit.

We learn that Bella is a first time author, working on her second book, and a very successful book illustrator, with humble beginnings, she knows what it means to struggle.  As the story progresses, we realize that Edward is a sad, haunted young man, fighting his own demons, hiding a very sad story.  They are both in need of healing, can they find it in each other?

It's not my problem…

Telling herself she was insane, she again hit the brakes and stopped the car, barely yards from where she would be forced to join the inside lane of the motorway. She looked in the mirror, but he was just standing there, head down, shivering violently, and it occurred to her that she might already be too late. Quickly looking all around her, she put the car in reverse and carefully starting backing up, all the while keeping her eyes glued to her nearside wing mirror, where she could see the young man almost literally frozen to the spot.

She stopped just in front of him and leaned over to push the passenger door open, shivering as the icy air immediately slithered inside the car and chased the warmth away. Turning to look through the back window, she saw him, finally, lift his head and gaze at the car, seemingly bemused to see it there in front of him. Shaking her head, Bella climbed out of the car, and ran round the back. She couldn't help being taken aback by just how cold it was, and wondered how he had survived out here for the last half an hour or more since he'd left the café.

"Just get in the damned car before we both freeze to death… and before I change my bloody mind!" she yelled.

She is heading to a cottage, left to her by her grandmother, a place her ex-boyfriend Jake, knows nothing about and realizes she can’t just drop him off anywhere during this awful storm, and she takes the risk, and brings him with her.  They are snowed in, and little by little they get closer, an attraction begins to emerge, that both are fighting.. she feels too old for him.. he feels not good enough.. how long will they be able to resist?

Suddenly mindless of the cold, Bella threw back the duvet, and shot out of bed, not even bothering with her robe or slippers.

She yanked open her door and flew down the hallway, stopping abruptly in front of Edward's door and knocking a rapid tattoo on the wood.

"Edward… Edward… are you okay? Edward?"

"Please nooooo... pleeeaasse."

A loud sob burst out of him and Bella couldn't wait any longer. Twisting the doorknob, she threw the door open and strode quickly over to the bed, where Edward was twisted up in his duvet, tossing and turning violently as his hands flailed about him, as if trying to fight off an invisible assailant.

Without really knowing what she was doing, Bella acted on instinct alone. Grabbing his two hands in hers, she held them to her chest as she bent over the bed and called out to him.

"Edward, hey, it's okay, shhhh, it's all okay, you're safe…"

His hands stopped trying to pull away from her and she let go of one of them in order to free up her own hand. As she did, she felt his grip on her other hand tighten. Climbing up on the bed to sit beside him, she reached up and ran her fingers through his hair. It wasn't that clean, feeling a little greasy, but she was surprised at how soft it was, nevertheless. She repeated the soothing gesture, and was pleased to see that he was beginning to calm.

"Shhh, beautiful boy, it's fine, you're safe… shhh, sleep now, everything's going to be okay…" She continued to stroke his hair and coo softly to him until he stopped jerking and crying out, and she could tell by his breathing that he had fallen into a dreamless sleep.

It was at this point that she realised how cold she was, despite having left the heating on. She started to get up, pulling gently to extricate her hand from his, but, even in sleep, she felt him tense and hold on tighter. She stopped pulling for a moment, waiting until she felt his fingers relax, and then finally managed to get her hand free.
She stood beside the bed for a moment, rubbing her hands up and down her arms to warm herself as she looked down on his thin, gaunt face. She had drawn the curtains earlier, but he had obviously opened them again before getting into bed, and now she could clearly see his striking features in the silvery light cast by the nearly full moon, it's glow accentuated by the reflection from the bright, white snow.

Not for the first time, she had to shake herself to rid her mind of the sly thoughts which tried to insinuate themselves into her consciousness—thoughts she had no business giving house-room to.

Edward was a homeless itinerant, probably barely out of his teens, and she had left a bad relationship only hours earlier. Whatever pull she felt towards him was surely borne out of sympathy for his plight, nothing more.

"Pull yourself to pieces, you foolish woman," she whispered irritably to the silent room, then turned away from the bed and hurried back to her own room.

As she slid back into bed she didn't notice the snow starting to fall again, huge flakes swirling around in the escalating breeze and beginning to adhere to her curtained window.

I can’t wait to read, how FluffyLiz, brings these two together, overcoming all the obstacles that will sure be in their way.  Give it a try and fall in love with it!

The Cullen Legacy by Pattyrose

Sometimes when you’re writing a review you don’t want to give too much away but you also want to make sure everyone knows how much you like a story.  The Cullen Legacy by pattyrose is one of those WIPs where you find out a little more with each chapter and sometimes speculating as to what is going to happen (or what happened in the past) is half the fun.

The first thing you wonder when you start to read is what the hell did Edward do to piss Bella off?  She really has it in for him, and it seems has felt that way for years. We see the world through her eyes and the way she observes and assesses, you can just tell she has something major planned.  Her main objective: make Edward Cullen pay. Chapter one alone gives us a few morsels but not too much, making you just want to keep reading to find out what exactly happened seven years ago.  Bella is feisty and obviously scorned; she has a plan and is determined to stick to it.

The washroom walls are all mirrored, top to bottom, perfectly polished, not a blemish anywhere. I watch myself walk in. My hair flows in spiraling waves round my shoulders, long and shining. The red dress billows at my ankles then splits invitingly in the front before hugging my thighs and lifting my breasts provocatively. The black stilettos give my legs a slinky, sensuous length. Seven years ago, the plans I had for my life were so simple; so different from what they've become. Seven years ago he stepped into my life and invited me to picture myself at his side; let me believe that I would be with him as he rose through the political world in America.

Seven years ago, he lied.

Now, he'll pay.

We find out quickly that Edward is a Congressman, fast on his way to becoming president. Bella is from the UK and is one of the highest ranking exec’s at Newton Enterprises.  She’s at a benefit that the President is attending, in honor of Congressman Cullen, with her boss and maybe-something-more Michael Newton, who doesn’t know anything of her past.   We see her polished and poised and calculating, she knows exactly how to read Edward, you can tell she has waited seven years for this very moment.  When Edward finds her alone, what occurs is sexy and a little dirty and bloody excellent; she’s mad and he has absolutely no idea what is going on.

I cock my head to the side. "That, Congressman, was for coming in here and assuming that I am still your weekend slut."

"Christ, Bella, I never-"

"You've missed me, have you, Love?" I drop the well-polished English and let my accent revert to the cockney he once claimed he loved. "Well, don't fret. You'll be getting your fill of me in the near future, you will. This here was just a taste, Congressman Cullen, of how I have you by the bollocks. You've missed me?" I repeat. "Trust me, pretty soon you'll wish you'd never laid eyes on me again."

Chapter two takes us back in time to the day Edward and Bella first meet. We start to learn a little more about her; where she’s from, who her friends are, what she does.  And perhaps we have Jake and his unwanted advances towards Bella to thank for Edward and her getting together.  Bella works at a pub and Edward and some of his men are there drinking, acting up and enjoying themselves while on leave from the US Army.  When Bella takes a detour through the park on the way home from work, to avoid Jake, Edward follows and approaches her.

Actually, there aren't many people out here at all. I suppose it's due to the rain, which has started falling more insistently. I pull my hood round my head tighter, but it's either this or go home and spend a late evening into early morning with Jake wanting to give me a go.

I'll take the rain.

My mind wanders to my mum and little sister back home. Maybe I'll take the rail tomorrow morning and go visit them and-

Someone pulls my hood down off my head and my heart drops to my bloody feet before I whirl around and find myself staring back into those green eyes from the pub.

"You just frightened the ever-living shite out of me!"

Green Eyes stands there, resting his weight over one hip, hands in his pockets. One half of his mouth lifts up into the most glorious grin imaginable. I am struck mute. Thank goodness he starts talking.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to. I was actually trying to come up with a way to approach you without giving you a scare."

My brows furrow curiously while he stands there, something between a smirk and a smile forming on his face. I am now able to form words once more.

"How long have you been behind me?"

"Since you left the pub."

"You've been following me since I left the pub?"

He nods. "Your friends were right. It's not the safest thing for you to be out here alone at this time of night."

I purse my lips and study him. The rain is still falling, not hard, but not lightly either. Drops fall over his face, but he doesn't seem to mind. He's wearing an open bomber jacket, and his t shirt is getting rather wet – outlining a well-toned chest. He runs a hand through his hair to push it back. A few bits spike up here and there, and now it looks even more perfect than before.

From this moment we see something stirring between them.  He is really charming and damn good-looking and she sees something more in him, and right there is where you want to know what went wrong, because it seems like it might be pretty damn perfect when they do get together.

I'm bewildered and confused and excited beyond anything I've ever been.

"I don't even know your name," I breathe incredulously, searching his eyes because I feel as if it's the only part of him I can truly trust.

"Sergeant Edward Anthony Cullen, of the U.S. Army Special Forces," he smirks. "What's your name?"

"Bella," I respond, still in a daze. "I'm Bella."

"Bella," he repeats, only in his voice it sounds like a prayer, like a plea.

"Bella, I don't want this night to end," he whispers.

I search his eyes once more, scanning one and then the other, unsure as to what I'm looking for, yet somehow it's there. It's there; I'm sure it is.

"Neither do I," I admit, shaking my head vehemently.

"Good," he grins, and then brings his mouth back to mine, and the way he kisses me this time simply confirms that the night is only just beginning.

Pattyrose is excellent at setting the scene without giving a lot away and each chapter she gives us reveals something new.  The switching between past and present isn’t annoying and doesn’t affect the flow of the story, if anything, it helps you understand what is going on.  Bella is strong and yet you see some vulnerability about her, she’s vengeful that’s for sure but you want to know why.  Edward is confident and a little cocky and in the past he is quite sweet, and damn sexy.  Present Edward takes a few chapters to emerge, seeing as he’s seen through Bella’s point of view.

The Cullen Legacy is a great story; it has it all, it’s sexy, sweet, touching, with a touch of drama and a lot of mystery.  It’s certainly one to check out!

It's surprisingly quiet out here; Emmett has soundproofed the bar as much as possible to prevent complaints from the nearby businesses. I'm lost in the silence until I hear what sounds like moaning.

Moaning and car creaking, to be exact.

I snap my head up; thankful I'm in the shadows, and spot a red car in the lot across from where I'm standing. I feel my breath hitch and a tightening in my stomach as I watch two people having sex. Really hot, really fast sex from what I can see. I know I should go back inside and give them some privacy.

I don't.

Instead, I sneak over to stand behind the bank sign and peek around it. I'm closer to the rocking car than I think is safe, but I find myself excited at the dangerous proximity.

The noises they are making are animalistic and I involuntarily squeeze my leather clad thighs together as I watch the woman ride the dude in the back seat, hard. Her tits are bouncing in his face and he's trying to get a mouthful, but her movement is too jarring. He finally reaches up with one hand to grasp a breast and I watch hungrily as his tongue juts out and licks her nipple.

I feel it in my own breast and before I know it, I've got my hand under my shirt and I pinch my hardening nipple. It feels so good, too good. When I hear the woman increase her moans, my hand starts making it's way down my torso, fingertips playing at my waistband. I'm so ridiculously turned on watching these two go at it that I can't hear anything but the creaking and the moaning.

Until I hear a voice too close to my ear.

"Half Pint likes to watch, hmm? What a naughty, naughty teacher."

I mean seriously, who wouldn’t want to read this?  That’s just in the first chapter!  I was hooked to the last word and I literally run when it updates to read it.   This Edward is unlike anything I’ve read before, first off by day he’s a plain clothes wearing dude that likes to piss Bella off at the local coffee shop. By night he’s a jeans wearing tattooed fucker that still likes to piss off Bella. He’s got a manchu, Dave Grohl type facial hair and depending on when she sees him, he’s either Manchu or Coffee Jerk. Not only does he harass her about what coffee she drinks now he’s showing up at her brothers bar while she’s working.  Even though he annoys her beyond anything she’s ever encountered, she can’t quit thinking about him.

"So tell me, Half Pint, how does a high school English teacher end up working in a bar like this?"

"English teacher, HA! That's a good one."

I whip my head around to see Emmett coming up behind me. I hadn't even known he was back behind the bar. I look back to Manchu, who's wearing a confused expression.

"Your bartender here confirmed she was a teacher, maybe it was my mistake to assume she taught the classics." Manchu says to Emmett.

"My bartender is my sister, and she's no high school teacher. She's a professor over at Belmont University. The classics, huh? Tell him what you teach, Dear Izzy." Emmett is grinning, as he finds my course of education…entertaining.

I look from Emmett to Manchu, and grin.

"I teach a course called "Social Deviance. Course number SOC 2300, if you're interested in looking it up."

If I wanted to wipe Manchu's smirk off, I succeeded. He's staring at me dumbly, his mouth slightly open and looks to Emmett to see if I'm joking. Emmett just lets out one of his signature
HA's and walks away.

"Social Deviance? Well that's a long way from Jane Eyre." He drinks his shot and puts the glass down, nodding his head to the bottle. "So tell me, Professor, what exactly is taught in a course about social deviance?"

"Oh a little of this, a little of that. Anything considered out of society's acceptable behavior. Taboos, the forbidden, addiction, criminal behavior, sexual deviance, things of that nature."

"Sexual deviance." He parrots.

"Yup." That's all he's getting from me. I take the bottle, pour him another and put the bottle back on the shelf.

"Well that explains it." His tone has changed and I bristle, waiting for some insult. I turn back around with a hand on my hip and wait for whatever it is he has to say.

He leans in over the bar, looking around to see if anyone is paying attention. Pleased that what he's about to say is between us, his eyes bore into me.

"Why you can't get enough of me touching you inappropriately in public."

Yeah, Bella is a professor of social deviance! I’m telling you this story is full of so much UST and just plain lust that its rolling off the pages.  The banter that Edward and Bella have makes me laugh and then makes me need a fan to cool off. I’ll leave you with a little bit more of them together, because believe me, you want to see where it goes!

"I'm taking these off." His fingers move to the button of my pants but before he unclasps them, I feel him tugging at the shorts underneath. He moves his head sideways and I see his teeth pulling at the material, ripping the spandex apart like it's made of tissue.

I sit looking at him shocked, while he just smirks, pleased with himself, the side of his mustache lifting in amusement. He cocks one eyebrow when he thinks I'm about to protest and that shuts me up.

He pulls the destroyed material out from under the leather that was covering it, and looks down at my newly exposed skin.

"I knew you'd be bare." He murmurs, before bending down and placing his tongue directly over my clit.

Glycerine: Sweet, clear,  odorless...harmless, unless mixed with the wrong ingredients. When Bella decided  to fulfill a fantasy, Edward was happy to oblige. Reviewed by: Ooza

When Liv first told me her idea for Glycerine, I knew I just had to read it.

In Glycerine, Edward is Hollywood’s hottest actor (but not in a creepy RPF way). He’s also a complete dick and a manwhore. In fact, he’s such a manwhore that when Bella is assigned as the costume designer of his new movie, he doesn’t recognize her, even though they had hot, steamy sex at a previous wrap party. Bella turns down his advances, and despite Edward’s rule of no repeats, it sets a game of cat and mouse into motion.

Bella yanked her shirt on and fastened her pants in quick, angry motions as she glared at him. "Why did I lie? Gee, I don't know, maybe because having to remind someone they had sex with you isn't at the top of my 'fun things to do' list."

"I'm sorry," he murmured, holding his hands up in front of him. "That was shitty of me. Why don't you let me make it up to you. I promise there'll be no way either of us will forget this time."

"You've gotta be kidding me," Bella laughed, her expression incredulous. "I don't know what shocks me more, the fact you're proposing we have sex so you can remember the last time, or that you actually believe for one second I would consider doing it."

Sparks fly when the two finally give in to what they both desire, but the feelings they develop for each other are more than either of them anticipated. Not wanting his or Bella’s private lives in the spotlight, Edward insists they keep their relationship a secret—something Bella isn’t too keen on, especially when studio executives encourage a fake relationship between Edward and his leading lady, Esme.

"Why is it so fucking hard for you to understand why I'm upset? You're going to go out with her. You're going to let people think you're a couple. You're going to be in more of a relationship with your fake girlfriend than your real one. Unless part of the agreement is you fuck her too. Then I'm fucking obsolete."

"Ah, God. Here we go again," he groaned, his voice exasperated. "I'm not going to fuck her. The only reason I agreed to do this was for the movie. As you just said, you are my girlfriend. Not her."

It was the first time either of them had put a label on what they were to each other, and both were a little taken aback that those declarations were made in the middle of an argument.

"Edward, I'm jealous okay? I hate it, and it makes me feel foolish to admit it, but I am. Because she gets to do things that we can't, and you agreed to it without giving a second thought to how it would make me feel."

"Of course I care about how you feel. Christ, look at where we are." He swept his arms out wide. "If you think I care so little about you, then why are you here? Why are we doing this?"

I’m going to go ahead and state the obvious: this story is downright angsty. Liv does such a fantastic job of portraying the emotions of the characters. I feel like I am Bella, watching my boyfriend go on dates and get cozy with another woman, and wondering if he really changed his ways for me or if I’m the one being played.

The story is written in third person, so we know how Edward really feels, but we also have a fair idea of what’s going to happen next, and that makes it all the more heartfaily.

Liv also does a great spin on the other characters. If you read Glycerine, you’ll learn quickly that the supporting characters don’t follow their canon counterparts.  Esme is conniving and will stop at nothing to make her and Edward’s fake relationship a reality. Carlisle Masen is Edward’s friend, and if you think Edward is an ass, it’s nothing in comparison to how sleazy Carlisle is. Victoria is Bella’s bestie and confidant, and the only one who knows what’s truly going on between Bella and Edward. The characters are all unique, and their interactions are so realistic that it only makes the story more believable and heart-hurty.

If you like angst, hot sex, a strong Bella, and a complicated Edward, then what are you waiting for? This story encompasses everything beautifully. Liv promises nothing when it comes to her stories, but she always delivers. Go read it!

Changing My Course by Twilover76
Sparks fly when two strangers collide in the dark. Will Edward star in  Bella's future, or will the politics of her life be too much for him to handle?  AH/M  Rated: Fiction M

Reviewed by: iambeagle

"No! Don't let that door close!"

While at a club celebrating her graduation from Columbia, strait-laced Bella mistakenly walks into a closet, thinking it was a bathroom, which locks from the outside. It turns out to be the best mistake of her life, because who else confuses the closet for a bathroom, thus trapping them together in a dark, tight space? None other than Edward Cullen, of course.

"Are you okay?"

He had a nice voice, but he was right there. In my personal space.

I backed away as far away as I could, until some shelves were biting into my body from behind, my hands clenched into fists at my sides. My adrenaline was pumping as I tried to remember to breathe.

He could be a serial killer. Or a rapist.

Or worse... a Republican.

Like I didn't have enough of those in my life already.

Bella’s the daughter of a Senator, and Edward, unbeknownst to Bella, is a Hollywood star. Her life is already planned out for her: a job working at her uncle’s advertising firm and a pretentious boyfriend, whom she’s expected to marry.

When I remained silent, he leaned back in close enough for me to feel his breath on my lips.

"I think you need to know how it's done right." He kissed me hard. "Do you want me to show you?"

Against all rational thought, all logic, all convention, all sense of self-preservation... I did.
I did want him to show me.

I wanted him to tear off my clothes. Take me hard. Make me scream.

Change my course.

Maybe that's what I was really looking for. Something—or someone—to disrupt this track my life was set on.

Their connection is instant. After engaging in some conversation and a hot makeout sesh, their friends finally find them. And Bella realizes who she’s been in the closet with the entire time.

I turned toward Edward, both nervous and excited to see the face of the man I'd been molesting moments earlier. And every drop of blood drained from my body.

It was Edward Cullen.

Edward Cullen.

The boy-king of Hollywood. The biggest star around.

He stood there, watching me with a half-grin and shrugged.

I was frozen. I couldn't form words. I didn't even know where to start.

Bella soon gets exactly what she wanted—her course begins to change, but not without the help of Edward. He shows an interest in her, making her question the path her life is on. Things aren’t easy for them, though—with Bella’s meddling mother, the paparazzi, and the expectations that come with being a Senator’s daughter.

Twilover76 does a lovely job creating an entertaining story and introducing characters who are genuine and likeable.

Check this story out! You won’t be disappointed.

Faking It by  Spanglemaker9
Half of Hollywood's most famous couples  are faking it. That's how Bella Swan's publicist convinces her to pretend to  date troubled Hollywood bad boy Edward Cullen. And she'll do anything for her  band and her music. Rated: Fiction M

Reviewed by: Dreamweaver94

When I was asked if I’d read Faking It by Spanglemaker9, I replied, “Of course.” I thought to myself, who hasn’t [read it]? I’m still a little shocked to have been asked to write a review for it. What can I say that hasn’t already been said?

I enjoy so much about this particular story- I’m not sure where to start. It’s been about two and a half years since I discovered all of Spanglemaker9’s fics. At this point, I can’t remember where I’d heard of it.

Admittedly, I’m ashamed to say I don’t rec it very often because I just assume everyone has already read it. Faking It has been “favorited” by over 8000 readers on ffn, ranking it in the top 25 of all Twilight fics still posted.

When I search for a good fic, I want to be sucked into the story. I want UST and angst. I want the inevitable yet plausible misunderstanding between the two main characters. I want the anticipation that comes from one of the leads having to work their way back into the good graces of the other. It also doesn’t hurt when all the elements of canon that I adore are there, and subtle. When hints of the original characters blend seamlessly with a new vision and create a world I can’t tear myself away from, I’m hooked. This story had me hooked the whole time.

Bella, Emmett, Rose, and Jasper are members of the band Eclipse, and have just won first place in the reality TV show America’s Next Great Band. In order to launch them into superstardom instead of obscurity, their publicists arrange for lead singer and girl-next-door Bella Swan to start “dating” blockbuster actor Edward Cullen – a great actor with a bad reputation.

It starts with my favorite premise of all, “a very bad boy being redeemed by a very good girl”. Spanglemaker9 even acknowledges this tale-as-old-as-time concept when Aro, the band’s publicist, tries to sell the band on the idea.

"And what does being with Edward do for Bella, exactly?"
"Despite his issues," Aro continued, "Edward is still a very hot social commodity in Hollywood. Quite possibly because of them, actually. He may have problems getting cast, but he certainly has no problem getting invited anywhere and everywhere. And he's still very much considered Hollywood royalty. In the very top tier of players in this town. Right now Bella, and by extension all of you, are very hot, but also balancing on the knife edge of being a flash in the pan. The show just ended a few months ago, you're all still fresh and new. People are waiting to see if you turn into bona fide, long-lasting superstars or if you turn into a Trivial Pursuit answer. Now your job is to make the brilliant music that will cement your reputation. But my job is to make sure people are paying close attention to you when that music is released. And linking Bella to Edward will most assuredly make sure that happens. This goes beyond the usual curiosity people will have about two celebrities dating. There is also the story of a very bad boy being redeemed by a very good girl, and the public loves a good redemption story."

And so their story begins. They meet, the sparks fly, and Bella tries as hard as possible not to fall for the infamous Edward Cullen. Their chemistry is off the charts, but Bella guards her heart because she’s a musician, not an actor like Edward – for all she knows, he’s faking it the entire time. Or is he?

"I'm just thinking…well, it might look better if we hold hands. Is that alright with you?"

"Oh, sure! I wasn't thinking. Of course."

Edward reached over and plucked my right hand off my lap, twining my fingers in his. He rested our joined hands on his left thigh. Gah. Why the hell did that have to feel so damned good? I could hardly think of anything besides the feel of his fingers on my hand.

What he does when the cameras aren’t flashing and the media isn’t hounding them starts to surprise her. She doesn’t think this could possibly be real.

Finally we were called in to the theater for the screening. At least I'd be off my feet. Edward led us to our seats and got me settled. The lights dimmed halfway and before I registered what he was doing, Edward reached into my lap and plucked my hand up and settled our joined hands on his thigh just like at the ballgame. It occurred to me for a second that it was dark in here and no one was likely to notice if he didn't hold my hand, but it felt too good, so I didn't say a word.

Then the lights went out completely and the movie started. The instant it got dark, the low grade electric buzz I always felt when I was close to Edward shot up to epic levels. I was acutely aware of how close the side of his leg was to mine. It seemed like every nerve ending in my body channeled straight into my right hand where it was joined to his. This reaction my body had to his was embarrassing. I felt so tingly and flushed that it seemed impossible it wasn't noticeable to others, to him. I chanced a tiny glance at Edward. His head was tilted slightly in my direction and he was looking at me. His eyes looked black in the darkness of the theater. I didn't immediately look away. Whatever I was feeling before was amplified by a thousand now that we were locking eyes. He had to be feeling something, too. Slowly, I felt his thumb swipe across the back of my knuckles. My breathing hitched, my heart pounded and I prayed he didn't hear it. I cut my eyes back to the front where the movie was starting. Out of the corner of my eye I could see he didn't move, he was still watching me.

This story has the slow burn I love. It takes its time and describes all the details and moments that make these two fall for each other.

"Wait till you see her tomorrow!" Alice said ... "She's going to take your breath away!"

And she was out of my room in a flash. I laid my head back on the pillow and spoke to the ceiling. "She already does."

The publicists were right. The public and the media are eating up the new relationship. Trouble comes when the lines drawn between fiction and reality are blurred. Both Edward & Bella have their own reasons for holding back, for assuming the worst. Just when they realize maybe what they feel is real and maybe they will get a break, the paparazzi, which covered the blossoming relationship - may very well destroy it.

It has so many moments that have stayed with me years after I’ve read it. It makes me want to buy fish tacos from a food cart in LA and eat them on a private beach late at night. It makes me wonder which couples on the red carpet can’t wait for “later.” It makes me want a grand piano in my bedroom.

The best thing I can say about this story is that when I went to pull some of my favorite quotes and moments in order to write this review, I got sucked back in just as quickly as the first time I’d read it. Instead of just skimming through to refresh my memory, I spent the entire weekend rereading it because I still love the characters, plot, pacing, and dialogue.

So if you haven’t read this story yet (impossible, right?), I don’t know what you’re waiting for. Just don’t plan on doing anything for a couple of days.

teeny-tiny note from PAWsPeaches:

If you haven't read anything in this feature but you made it all the way here, to the bottom of this post...please pay attention: you need this story (The Gap) in your life.

There are times that I come across a story which effects me, to the point that I get excited and want to post everywhere about it or I just want to blog about it... this post is one of those times. The Gap is so well written, realistic and fun that I advise you all to click the link above and get in on this while it's still in the making... so that you can watch it grow and appreciate it the way we all do when we find those newborn stories that turn out to be such big wonders. I've inserted a favorite excerpt from chapter 3 below and I hope that you'll join us and see why we're talking about this one...

Bella's apparent indifference is enough to drive Edward insane. As the bartender takes his time to retrieve the drinks, he continuously glances in Bella's direction. The woman next to him is still talking, but he isn't listening. And he isn't buying her drink.

"Where's your friend?" Bella asks as Edward returns.

He hands her a beer before taking a swig of his own. "I told her to wait for me in the alley."

Bella sighs. "Lovely."

"I'm kidding, Bella. Why, are you jealous?"

"No," she lies. "I prefer guys that shower, remember?"

He stares straight into her eyes. "Right. And I prefer girls who swallow, but that isn't going to stop me."

Review by:  FictionFreak95

The  back of my neck is slick with sweat. The heat in this club makes my  T-shirt cling to my skin. I finish off my beer, but it does nothing to  quench my thirst or help relieve the tension in my shoulders. The music  hurts my ears. It's too loud and the bass is turned up too high. I can  feel it in my chest and inside my head like it's banging my brain  against my skull. I know all about brains and skulls and the two of them  colliding.

More than I ever wanted to know.

Ya got that right, Edward.

When  TroubleFollows1017 starts a story off like this, you know it’s gonna  suck you in.  She always has this way of capturing your full attention  right off the bat in her stories and with “Now and Then”, she does not  disappoint.

Trouble  takes us on a whirlwind journey between two rock stars with very  different lives.  He’s fast and furious,  she’s a bit more “controlled”  by the powers that be.  Not that there isn’t a rebel inside that sweet  girl somewhere.  Bella certainly wants to do her own thing but she’s torn between breaking free, and not wanting to make too many waves.

The  two of them fall in love hard and true when Bella’s mother (and  manager) books Edwards band as the opening act for Bella’s US tour.  The  only problem?  Bella’s mother does not like Edward. At all. So the two  find themselves hiding away in hotel rooms, stealing kisses (along with …  other things) and creating a relationship façade between Edward and  Bella’s sister Rose to throw Mom’s scent off of the blissful couple.

When  push comes to shove (aka, Edward can’t take the lies anymore), Bella  agrees to tell her mother everything (and when I say everything, I mean,  I can’t tell you what else because that would completely ruin your Now  and Then experience) but before she has the chance to, a horrible  accident occurs and Bella’s memory is washed away, taking everything  that she and Edward had together right along with it.
It’s  absolutely heartbreaking to watch Edward, through the “Now” chapters,  try and keep his distance when the love of his life is moving on with  hers.

I  push off the wall and order something stronger than beer at the bar. A  double. I need something to numb the ache that starts in my chest and  radiates out to every other part of my body. My heart's been damaged and  continues circulating this burning pain through my veins. You'd think  I'd be used to it by now since it's my constant companion, but somehow  that shit never gets old. It waxes and wanes but never goes away. And it  always hits me hardest when I know she needs me and there's nothing I  can do about it.

My  phone buzzes in my pocket. It's probably Jasper. It didn't take him  long to figure out I wasn't where I said I was going to be. That means  he knows I'm here and he'll be coming to get me. White Teeth hands her a  drink and she tries to wave it away, but he insists. She shouldn't be  drinking, but there's no one here to look out for her. No one but me,  and I have to stay put. If I don't, I'll do something stupid like I did  in Cincinnati. Jasper will never forgive me if I do a repeat of  Cincinnati.

What  makes it even more difficult to watch him go through the tour as  nothing more than an observer, is Bella’s POV in the “Then” chapters.   To see how in love they were, how happy, even with all the bullshit  going on with her mother (and there is some serious bullshit going on,  let me tell you), they still manage to just be so perfect together.

"Have you ever met someone and just...connected? Right away?  Instantly?" I ask. My body is pressed up against his. I slide a leg in  between his. His heart is beating as fast as mine. I can feel it beating  fast and furious. His body is warm and I want to crawl inside. There's  something about him that makes me feel like he'd protect me, hide me,  shelter me. Maybe I'm crazy.

"Never. Until today," he whispers.  His hands slip under my shirt and softly touch the skin just above my  jeans. His fingertips are rough, calloused from playing guitar, and I  want to feel them touch me everywhere.

"Me either," I admit. "I swear I don't bring all my opening acts in here."
He laughs and I can feel his breath on my neck as he bends his head lower. "Good to know."

I  let my hands move up his chest, around his neck. I breathe him in. Mom  will never let this go any further if she finds out. I'm going to have  to make sure she never finds out. Because I want this. I want him. For once, I want something that's just mine.

He could be mine.

"I'm gonna try to not overthink this, whatever this is," he says as his hands travel lower over my ass, pulling me closer.

"What do you think this is?" I practically pant.

I can feel him hard and eager against my hip. "The start of something beautiful."

His  mouth covers mine and our tongues play along. He tastes as good as he  smells and almost as good as he feels. He probably doesn't believe me,  but I have never done anything like this in my entire life. I don't play  outside the fence or color outside the lines. I do what I'm told and I  follow the rules. Rules that suffocate and hold me back. Rules that were  made to control and confine. But Edward Cullen sets me free. I want to  be free. I need to be free.

I will be free.

*wipes tears*

But  like every story of Trouble’s, she gives us hope.  A light somewhere  inside our hearts that very aptly tells us, everything’s going to be  okay, because true love always fucking conquers, dammit.

"You won't hurt me." Bella holds my face in her hands. "You'd never hurt me. Please, make me remember who I am."

With  only a couple more chapters to go in this story, I can honestly say I  certainly hope it does.  Or I might need to hurt the woman.  (not  really. I love her too much to hurt her.)

In  closing, run, do not walk to your nearest computer and if you’re not  already enriching your life with the words of this beautiful, extremely  talented lady, do it now.

With no regrets.

Big love.
