Here she is to tell us a little about her comeback.

Summary: "Baseball is 90% mental. The other half is physical." - Yogi Berra

Hey there. Kat here, AKA Bratty-Vamp. I’m back from the dead or, at least, back from the black depths of the mysterious void that people dive into when they jump ship. A few people have asked me what brought me back to the fandom. As most things go with me, the story is a random one. These things are to thank, or blame, for sucking me back in: Maya Angelou, the love of my life, a forest, a Bee Girl, and a fanfiction group on Facebook.

1. Maya Angelou was quoted as saying, “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” I saw that quote one day, and I sort of had a breakthrough. I really missed writing.

2. Try as I might, writing felt like a chore. I still had all of the stories bubbling around in my brain, but I found no joy in the process. My husband—the love of my life—suggested I get back online and find the places and people that used to inspire me and made writing FUN.

3. I visited old, familiar online stomping grounds, like A Different Forest, and I think I wigged a lot of people out. Some people were happy to welcome me back. Some people thought I was an imposter weirdo. Someone asked if I’d seen the tribute that was written about me on the Twific Fandom Awards site. I hadn’t.

4. I followed a shared link and read the humbling and beautiful words beegurl13 had written in a tribute to Bratty-Vamp. No lie… I ugly cried. And as soon as I pulled it together, I searched for beegurl13 so I could thank her for writing what she had, to let her know how much it meant to me. After we did a slow-motion running-toward-each-other-with-our-arms-extended, wind-in-our-hair, sand-under-our-feet sort of coming together, beegurl13 punched me in the face for taking so long to come back. Okay. So not really. But we did have a nice time reconnecting. She also told me about another little secret I was clueless about.

5. There was a Bratty-Vamp fanfiction page on Facebook! Say what?! I went to check it out. Sure enough, some lovely person named Cejsmomwatson started the group years before and actually kept it going the entire time I’d been away. I immediately sent a request to join, and I then knew I was in trouble. Cejsmomwatson was very quick to remind me that before I left the fandom, I had promised to write a baseball fanfic called MVP and she was still waiting for it.

So, for what it’s worth, here it is. It comes with a big thank you to people who never forgot my stories. If you’re part of the five or six people who stuck it out and waited on Facebook, big kisses to you! This is for friendships, new and old. It’s for humbling tributes, encouraging pre-readers/cheerleaders, and for uber-talented betas. It’s for people who put their own writing out there and light a fire under my ass to try to do the same. It’s also for the people who are probably sitting around plotting bad reviews before I even post the first chapter. Some people are just like that! It takes everyone and every type to make up this wild and wacky fandom. And I’ve missed you all.

“Thirteen, Mary! Thirteen!”

With a sigh, I stood and walked over to the curb. Mindful not to ruin my stockings, I carefully lowered myself to my knees and stretched my body forward like a cat, pressing my cheek to the warm concrete while I peered under the vehicle. Just as I thought, the ball had rolled to rest just behind the back tire. It wouldn’t be easy to reach. I pushed my arm out as far as I could and wiggled my fingers, smiling when I finally felt the rubber ball beneath my fingertips. I froze, however, when I heard someone clear their throat above me.

“Not that I mind the view,” a decidedly masculine voice said. “But would you mind telling me what in the hell you’re doing to my car?”

I closed my eyes and groaned, realizing that my bottom was pointed straight up at the owner of the vehicle that I was practically crawling beneath. Trying to muster up whatever dignity I could, I stood and straightened my clothing before turning to face the man who towered above me.

Oh, damn.

Be sure to put AKABrattyVamp on alert, so you can follow along with TLS!

TLS Special SNEAK PEEK Feature

The Lemonade Stand has spent years bringing you the best the fandom has to offer, and we are very excited to have the chance to offer you MORE. We’ve watched stories grow and develop from first post through COMPLETE, and now we’re sharing previews of the stories that will soon be your new addiction.

This week, TLS is excited to have the talented writer planetblue, as our guest! She has written classics like Deviant, Channel Five, & Badlands and this lady never fails to surprise us with her creativity. Take a peek at her upcoming story, Edward Takes a Holiday, which intrigues me because it was born of the contest I co-hosted with CarrieZM, called Control.Possess.Seduce!!!

Edward Takes a Holiday
 by planetblue

Summary: The girl’s not going to know what hit her.

When I was asked to give a sneak peek of my new story to the lovely ladies here at TLS, the first feelings I experienced were excitement, happiness, and gratitude that they wanted it. All was good in my world.

Until reality set in, in the form of a confusing, nerve-racking cloud that made my head spin as I was completely perplexed about how to discuss this thing I’d written that (to me) is hard to summarize without giving it all away.

With no clues as to what to do or say, I decided to put it on someone else, and have Edward himself tell us about the story since I couldn’t come up with anything (I felt) that was safe to discuss.

PB: Hello, Edward, thanks for sitting down with me. Can I offer you a drink before we start?

Edward: Scotch. Balblair, neat.

PB: I, uh, don’t have that. I have wine?

Edward: An acceptable Malbec?

PB: Er, no. Sparkling white with a screw cap.

Edward: (Shudders) Pass. Let’s just start the inquisition, even though I’m mystified why you wouldn’t be prepared to offer me, the character you created, his preferred beverage.

PB:  Having you here was a last minute decision of panic, I apologize.

Edward: You should always be prepared; it’s not something to be overlooked. That being said, can I offer you one of my Xanax?

PB: Noted, and no, thank you. So, you’re up to a new adventure. What can you tell us about it?

Edward: Nothing, really. Nothing I care to share.

PB: Why not?

Edward: I’m a very private person. If I told you, I’d have to kill you.

PB: If you can’t say anything, why did you agree to do this?

Edward: I find myself agreeing to things I don’t want to do a lot lately. Oh! There you go; it’s about me being forced to go on a holiday. Is that enough?

PB: Not really, but let’s talk about this ‘forced’ thing. Who forced you, and why?

Edward: My brother and his irritating wife. They thought I could use a break. I disagreed, they insisted, so off I went.

PB: I’m picturing you in many different locations…

Edward: Are you, now... (Leaning in) Based on your nervous fidgeting, your obvious attraction to me, and your shallow breathing I’d say that you’re really picturing me naked.

PB: Uh…

Edward: I may or may not wear a bathing suit in this one. Lucky you.

PB: (Swallowing) That works. Anything fun happen on this vacation?

Edward: Loads.

PB: Anything about meeting a girl as mentioned in the very vague, one-sentence summary?

Edward: If that’s how you want to interpret it, sure.

PB: There’s another way?

Edward: When you’re given such little data, it could really be anything, couldn't it? I like the summary, actually, the non-information given. I approve.

PB: I’m not sure readers would agree. They use summaries and sneaks such as these to determine what to read next. The writer (ahem) has a terrible trait of giving nothing away - cryptic summaries, not answering questions like how many chapters to expect, and giving no warnings.

Edward: I can’t speak for the (super cute) author, but I know I prefer to not reveal anything about my activities. I like to remain as anonymous as possible.

PB: If you won’t tell us anything about your holiday, can you tell us how she came up with this idea?

Edward: I believe after I burned Bella’s house down in Crazy Like That, she needed a break from the… crazy. She wrote two other tales for me that she may revisit, but the idea to send me in a more light-hearted direction came from her inability to enter the Control.Possess.Seduce contest since she was a judge. One of the hosts, who is also her lovely beta, Carrie ZM,  asked her what she would do if she could enter, and here we are.

PB: So are you controlling, possessing, or seducing in this story?

Edward: Seducing. Definitely seducing. But there’s a bit of the other two in there, just because of who I am, what I’ve become.

PB: Can you tell us anything else? Maybe about why your brother and sister-in-law thought you needed a break?

Edward: (Sigh) If you insist, I’ll share the discussion we had about it, but that’s all you’re getting from me.

PB: I guess I’ll take what I can get.

“Rosalie and I think you need a break.” He says it really fast; like he’s afraid I’m going to take offense to this. Which of course, I do.

“I don’t need a break, Emmett. There’s no reason for a vacation as long as we have clients.” I pause, suddenly anxious. “We do have clients, do we not?” I look between him and the blonde who acts as our company accountant, and she narrows her eyes at me.

“Of course we do, Edward.”

“Then what’s the problem?”

Emmett clears his throat and perches on the front of his desk, his big hands squeezing the wood. “We feel it’s in the best interest of the business if you take a little rest, that’s all.”

“Have I screwed up? The answer to that is no and your request for a break is no. The business is fine as long as we’re all doing our jobs.”

“Oh hell, Emmett, if you won’t tell him I will. You’re turning into an asshole, Edward. You need a fucking vacation.”

My eyes widen and my hand covers my heart, feigning offense. “An asshole? Me? What in God’s name would a vacation do for the best part of my personality?”

“Your ‘personality’ as you call it is one that has become unpleasant. I’m tired of you growling at me and biting Emmett's head off. You yelled at me just last week because we ran out of coffee.”

“Well how can we run out of coffee? This is Seattle for Christ’s sake. Walk four feet out the door and you’ve run into some dirty grunge hipster’s shop playing World music and charging five dollars for a latte.”

PB: I have to say, they weren’t wrong. You are kind of an asshole.

Edward: Thank you!

PB: Not a compliment… well, I suppose I have to thank you for sharing that meager sneak.

Edward: (Smiling evilly) I might’ve told the author to edit it a bit before I shared it. Can’t have you knowing everything, now can we?

It  has been really fun to watch planetblue grow and develop as a writer. I’ve been a fan from the beginning. She outdoes herself each story and she’s been a TLS favorite from the start. This writer takes a lot of pride in her fan connection and never fails to respond to them. Make sure to put planetblue on alert, so you can follow along with us!

TLS Special SNEAK PEEK Feature

The Lemonade Stand has spent many years bringing you the best the Twilight fandom has to offer, and we are very excited to have the chance  to offer you even MORE. We've watched stories grow and develop from first post through COMPLETE, and now we're lucky enough to share previews of the stories that will soon be your new addiction.

We all know to expect quality when it comes to drotuno and JenRar, aka Sarge’s Girls, both writers of fantastic stories individually and together, but we really think you are going to LOVE this new one!! I personally can’t wait until they start posting.

 by Sarge’s Girls

Summary: Sixth sense: a special ability to know something that cannot be learned by using the five senses. Humans use 10% of their brain, but it's been proven that those with a sixth sense use more. Some wish to harness that power. With a target on our backs, sixxers are hunted as we try to stay hidden, blending in with the average world around us...when we are anything but average. AH Canon Couples ExB

It’s been well over four years since Sarge’s Girls (JenRar and drotuno) first wrote together – Coming Home. It’s been two years since we finished In Pursuit. In that time, there have been plenty of fics written separately, not to mention a published book together – High Heels and Hard Drives – but writing together again has been a long time coming.

The inspiration for this is probably a bit of canon, a dash of X-Men, and throw in a sprinkle of a lot of other things.

It’s supernatural/romance/action – if there has to be a label. Drotuno’s “rules” still apply here, for those who are familiar with them. And as usual, Deb writes Edward’s POV, while Jenny takes Bella’s side of things.

Six will go live Sunday, July 10, and will update at least once a week. It’ll be in the usual places – FFN, FicPad, Twilighted, and drotuno’s blog – all under Sarge’s Girls. Here’s a little peek for you guys.

Jasper scrolled through his phone, showing me the screen. “Volterra Industries is on Forbes’s list this year.”

“Of course it is.” I frowned at that. “It’s amazing what you can do when ethics aren’t exactly your concern.”

“You still think they’re looking for us?”

“Yeah, Carlisle seems to think so.” I nodded. “He knew them at one time. Or at least he knew the CEO way back when. Medical school, I think.” I shrugged a shoulder. “One of the brothers is a sixxer. Marcus, I think. Anyway, Aro wanted to ‘fix him.’ And that turned into genetic testing. Now…they want all sixxers for testing. They’re willing to do anything to get them. Carlisle’s been watching the missing persons’ lists for years – decades, really – because he’s convinced that sixxers sign up but they never come out of the lab in Washington.”

The train slowed down, and we stood up when it came to a stop at the platform. Once we were out of the train station and up on the sidewalk, I turned his way.

“Anyway, Carlisle’s always said that we should be able to choose. That we should be able to defend ourselves – physically or with our senses. We’ve had close calls, even before you came into the picture. It was why we left Chicago not long after they adopted Alice and me. Alice…” I sighed, shaking my head. “She knew someone was coming, and she’s seen what they’d do to me and her, so her fear and her inability to run made her a target. I just about destroyed a McDonald’s that day. You really don’t want to see what they’d do to us.” I tapped my temple to indicate the visions I’d seen in my sister’s mind.

Jasper grimaced but nodded, pointing toward the bodega. “We need to stop in here. Mom needs a few things.”

Esme had sent him a small list of things she needed to his phone, so we grabbed a basket, shooting a wave to the man behind the counter as the bell over the door chimed. Bart – which was short for something long and complicated – was a tall, thick man with an even thicker accent and impressive beard. Usually he was one to joke around, but his mind was focused on a girl’s face. I couldn’t read his mind, because he thought in Armenian, but I could see his distrust of her when he’d pace back and forth behind that counter in order to see which aisle she was on.

Jasper chattered away about his classes at NYU, which focused on history, but I stayed quiet. When I finally saw the girl who was making Bart so anxious, my eyebrows shot up. She was a petite thing, with dark hair pulled back into a long ponytail and even darker eyes. Her clothes had seen better days, and on her shoulder was a backpack that seemed to be filled to bursting. Her sneakers were just about worn out, and in her hands were a few cans of soup, a loaf of bread, and a jar of peanut butter.
Her mind, though, was jumbled, everywhere and nowhere all at one time. It was hard to read her, except for the two thoughts that were prevalent – escape and hunger.

The one thing that outshone all of that was the fact that she was undeniably beautiful. It was natural and easy. It wasn’t wrapped up in makeup or hair products. It was smooth skin and wide, scared, life-hardened eyes, and lips that were pink and full…when she wasn’t chewing on the bottom one. And if I’d had to guess, I’d say she was somewhere around Alice’s age, maybe a little older.

The one thought that made me freeze was the Volterra Industries emblem that swirled to the forefront of her mind. It was a red V and I, and to her, it screamed danger. In fact, she looked at my shirt for it before focusing back on her armload.

Bart muttered under his breath, but I caught the girl’s eye.

"He’ll beat you to the door,” I warned her softly as Jasper took the next aisle. “Don’t do it. He’ll press charges, no shame. No matter how pretty you are.”

She gasped, glancing down at what was in her hands and then toward the front counter. There was a brief moment of sheer, utter defeat on that pretty face. She looked my way again, her cheeks blooming into either anger or embarrassment – I wasn’t sure which. Just when I thought she’d put some of her stuff down, she was running.

“Hey!” Bart yelled when the bell rang so hard it sounded like it would fall off the door.

“Ah, hell… Jasper, stay here!” I was fast, though Jasper could beat me any day, but Bart did beat me to and out the door. I turned the corner, shaking my head that this girl had picked a dead-end alleyway. She was as good as arrested, which for some unknown reason, I just couldn’t let happen.

Bart was still yelling from the sidewalk, but I ran down the alley, where she’d darted behind some dumpsters. Just as I caught sight of a brunette ponytail and an overstuffed backpack, she stepped toward a brick wall. Her hands were still full of the things she’d stolen, but as she walked toward the brick wall, a window-like square appeared, revealing something familiar through it, but she darted into it and the window evaporated.

“Oh, shit,” I whispered to myself through a laugh. “Pretty girl’s a sixxer.”

Make sure you put Sarge’s Girls on alert, so you can follow along with us!
