Recently widowed Bella moves to Seattle to start a new life. Reconnecting with her friend, Bella meets Alice's brother, Chef Edward Cullen. Celibate by choice for 2 years, what happens when Edward finds himself undeniably attracted to a sexy new Bella? Twilight - Rated: M

Review By: Evilnat

If you like your stories long and detailed you are going to love Wild.  Peppahlouie’s writing is amazing, with epic chapters and she throws in a few twists to keep us guessing too.  She also has stellar talent for writing about food.   Every chapter centers on food and cooking, with mention of incredible high end cuisine and even the everyday cooking mentioned seems to be a culinary masterpiece.  I’m not much of a cook myself but the food aspect of the story impressed me immensely.

Wild is set in Seattle, Bella has just moved into a loft above a restaurant called Wild, after her husband and father, who are both police officers, are killed on the job.  She wants a new start in a new place and when she reconnects with Alice her whole life changes.  Bella’s got mummy issues and had problems within her marriage to Jake, so she isn’t exactly the most confident woman.  With Alice’s help she gets a job at Wild and a makeover.

This is where she meets Edward; he’s head chef and part owner (with Alice) of Wild.  He’s grumpy and had a rough time with ex-girlfriends in the past, which is the main reason for his current choice to be celibate for the past two years.  He’s also a bit of a food snob and Bella’s talent for cooking impresses him from the start.

"Edward, Bella made those muffins."

Fuck me. I stop chewing and stare at Bella. She has turned deep red and is trying to find something to look at other than me. I take in her appearance this morning. She's not looking grunge today – more like a lumberjack; it's a definite improvement. Her long hair, damp I'm assuming from her morning shower, hangs loose around her shoulders. I understand her apparent nervousness – it's a killer to have a chef taste your food. It's bad enough when you're a chef yourself... I should know, and do.

"Well colour me fucking impressed. What's your secret, Bella? I'm detecting a note of... citrus?"

Her face explodes into a huge smile. What do you know – emo-grunge-lumberjack girl is pretty.

Alice is a major character, not only is she Edward’s sister, but she lives across the hall and works at Wild too.  Another important character is Bella’s mother Renee; she’s someone you will love to hate.  Most of the other regular supporting cast members make an appearance, including some of the Quileute’s.

It’s a very slow burn, taking a long time to get to the first kiss and 30 chapters to get to complete lemons, but so worth it.  Edward and Bella’s relationship is sweet and the use of music to portray their feelings towards each other is a cute touch.  When the lemons finally begin they are hot and well written.

"EDWARD! Oh my god, I love you too... oh my god... I love you, I love you..." I moan as he thrusts into me again and again. And I can feel it building, another orgasm is tightening the coil as the intense pleasure rages through me over and over with every thrust.

"Edward... Edward... I'm going to come again, baby... oh my god..."

"Me too, sweetheart," he pants as his thrusts start to ease in power but last longer, "come with me, Bella... come with me love..."

He reaches between us with one hand and circles my clit with his thumb, and I shriek as I shatter around him again in my third and most powerful climax yet. At the same time, he roars, "JESUSGOD... JESUS FUCKING GOD... YESSSSSS" and I feel his hot jets shoot into me as he pumps deep, holding my hips securely against him and grinding into me.

We collapse on the bed, still joined, Edward turned a little so his weight is on the mattress. We are panting, I'm still squirming from aftershocks and Edward has latched onto my neck, his teeth biting and only just not causing pain.

After a few moments, he lifts himself on his elbow and looks over to find me grinning like a fool. He raises an eyebrow and gives me his sexy smirk. "You liked that, did you, Miss Swan?"

I nod excitedly. "Most definitely, Chef Cullen. Let's do it again!"

Wild has everything: fluff, lemons, a bit of angst and some twists and turns to keep almost any reader happy.  It’s complete with 42 chapters and an epilogue and it has a couple of outtakes at the end too.  Take your time and check it out, it will be worth it.

Taken in the Night by Sheviking

Bella is kidnapped by Edward, the man who has secretly wanted her and watched her from afar. Is it love or merely obsession which motivates him? Bella is about to find out. Rated M for a reason. Twilight - Rated: M

Review By: B. Krumova

Taken in the Night is the type of story which grabs you from the first sentence. It’s rare to find such a good story; a story you can’t stop reading no matter how much you want.
Sheviking has her way with words; she always had. No matter which story of hers I read (and I’ve read them all) it doesn’t take more than a chapter for me to click on the “story alert” button. Taken in the Night was no exception.

Bella Swan is a normal twenty years old girl, living an ordinary life. She wakes up, goes to school, comes home, reads a book and goes to bed. However, everything changes when she wakes up in an unfamiliar bed, dressed in a skimpy nightgown without a memory how she ended up where she was.
…
I woke up and immediately knew something was wrong. The ceiling above me was not the same as I normally looked at when I opened my eyes in the morning.
Where am I?
My heart started beating faster and my hands went clammy as the fear set in.
Something is terribly wrong!
I sat up and noticed that that I was in a large bed with dark blue sheets that were incredibly soft and clearly not the cheap ones that I used to sleep in at home. My eyes quickly darted around the room which was large and very nicely decorated. On the wall across from the bed was a huge flat-screen TV, there were bookcases filled with books and DVDs. On the nightstand there was a vase with beautiful white roses which I could smell from where I was sitting.
What did I do last night?
I thought back. I had gone to bed at 11 after a boring night at home and nothing out of the ordinary had happened. I looked down at myself and my heart went into overdrive when I saw that I was wearing a nightgown made out of silk rather than my usual cotton pajamas. Someone had changed my clothes!
Panic started to set in and I felt the tears begin to form while I grabbed the sheet to cover my scarcely clad body. Just then I heard someone clear their throat in the corner of the room. The hairs on the back of my head stood up and I felt a rush of fear as the realization hit me:
I am not alone.
…
The story is told from Bella’s point of view which allows us to sympathize with everything she feels. As the initial shock subsides, our narrator finally understands what’s happened. She had been taken from her own apartment, her own bed and brought to where she was.
But who is her kidnapper? What does he want?
Money was not an issue for him, since the room she was locked in was more than well furnished. She wasn’t someone important; she didn’t have any special knowledge or connections.
Stress and desperation sets in as soon as she realizes he only wants her.
…
"My dad, he isn't rich," I said. "But he will give you everything he owns to get me back."
At least that part was true. I may not talk to Charlie very often, or pretty much at all anymore, but I still knew that I could count on him if I was ever in trouble. And, boy was I in trouble now.
"Bella, I don't want your father's money," Edward said. "I just…I just want…you."
"Oh, God," I whispered. "You're not ever letting me go, are you?"
…
Edward is not your typical kidnapper. He doesn’t lock Bella in the basement, tying her writs and making her eat dog food. On the contrary, he’s gentle, caring and sweet.
Which confuses Bella beyond believe.
What exactly is Edward’s deal? Why did he take her away and what does he want from her? How will the story proceed? Will Bella keep living in the nightmare, while Edward enjoys his dream come true?
Trust me, this story is worth it.

A heart leads Bella back home to Forks... and to the brother of the woman who donated it. M for Lemons/OOC/Language

Review By: Dragnfli Threethreesix

I love to find stories that have a unique story line and sometimes that is hard to find in a fandom with thousands and thousands of stories.  Dear Maggie by Jenny0719 was one of those for me. In classic Twilight style, Bella moves to Forks from Phoenix, although she doesn’t do it for her mother and she has already graduated from high school.  She is set to attend the University in Washington for college that year.  But that isn’t the only reason she is in Forks.

I reached up and felt the long, pink puckered scar that divided my chest, my constant reminder of why I was here and how things could change in just the blink of an eye. One day, you're lamenting over things like history reports and gym class, and the next, you're lying in a hospital bed, surrounded by wires and tubes while a doctor broke the news that your heart was dying, that you'd been born with this... defect that had been overlooked for years; one that slowly ate away at you while you wandered through life thinking that every fall and every strange shift in your equilibrium was because of some genetic flaw of clumsiness your mother passed down to you, when it was really one that ran so much deeper and created more problems, more pain—both physical and emotional—than you'd ever thought you could bear.

I glanced over at the file folder sitting beside me and had the sudden urge to snatch it up and cradle it to my chest. It held so much information about the girl whose life had ended so mine could finally begin. She'd given me a second chance, and it was hard to reconcile the immense gratitude and happiness I felt for being alive with the guilt and sadness I felt over her life being cut so short and so suddenly.

After Bella recovered from her heart transplant, she had a sudden, fierce need to know about this girl, Maggie, from who she got her heart.  She has also struggled through her feelings that she didn’t deserve her heart. She started writing in journals to work through her feelings.

Dear Maggie,

He's here. I can feel it. It scares me how connected I feel to him already. I don't even know his name, but I know that I'm supposed to meet him. I just wish I knew why. Telling him about you is the only thing I can think of, but it still seems wrong. Like there's more to it, and I'm just not seeing it.

I sound crazy, right? Sometimes, I think maybe I am. Like the psych eval I had to go under to make sure I could handle this was wrong or altered so I could have the surgery regardless of my mental state. I wouldn't put it past Renee to use the last of her savings and pay off some unsuspecting shrink to save me. After all, I am writing another letter to a dead girl. Just like I have been for months...

Bella’s new doctor in Forks is none other than our favorite, Dr. Cullen.  During her checkup, he gives her information on his son’s garage, knowing that he needs help and she needs a job.  She decides to stop there on the way home and meets Edward, who is less than accommodating, in fact, he is truly an ass. It turns out though that Edward is exactly the reason that Bella has come to Forks.

"Are you sure about why you're here?" he blurted out.

"I'm pretty sure, yeah. Why?"

"It's just…" He paused and stared at his plate for a moment. "I found the name of your donor's brother today."

I was suddenly giddy with anticipation, all thoughts of the red-headed asshole from earlier forgotten. "Really? Who is he? Does he live in Forks like we thought?"

"Yeah, he lives here. For now, anyway," Charlie answered reluctantly. He pulled out a slip of paper from his pocket and pushed it my way.

I reached out to take it from him, my hand shaking nervously as I did. I stared at the script on the paper in disbelief unsure if I was reading it correctly or if it was some crazy figment of my imagination.

Edward Cullen.

Edward was adopted by the Cullen’s, along with Emmett and Jasper, who all had something horrible happen to them in their lives.  Edward doesn’t sleep to avoid nightmares and he can’t stand being touched.  He is standoffish and has an asshole attitude which is mostly a defense mechanism to keep people away.

After all these years, I'd become a master at hiding things from my family. No one knew exactly what I'd been through. No one knew how black I was inside, how soulless I sometimes felt. I kept up the façade; I appeared the so-called norm. My adoptive parents thought they'd saved me from a life that was bound to find me not simply homeless, but dead in one of those dark alleyways I tried to forget. I supposed that in a way, they did.

They just didn't know that it still haunted me; that I spent every night lying awake so that I didn't see the monsters of my past or that I'd trained myself to stop screaming when I woke up from the nightmares they induced on the nights I finally did succumb to exhaustion. They had no idea that I was already broken when they'd found me and that the thousands of dollars of therapy they'd spent on me had only helped me to cope with the aftereffects of that life.

I’m really excited about this story and to where it goes, especially when Edward finds out about his sister. At six chapters in, Edward is beginning to open up just a little bit to Bella, when Esme forces him to accompany Bella on a hiking trip.  I also love this Bella, she is not a doormat and gives it back to Edward when he is a jerk to her, which is often. Jenny0719 has a wonderful story here, so please give Dear Maggie a try! You won’t regret it!

In 1994, he was an arrogant college student & she was dating his little brother. He was always haunted by the memory of her until fate brought them together again 16 yrs later. What happens when a forbidden attraction is no longer forbidden? EPOV, AU/AH
Twilight - Rated: M

Review By: Edmazing

Right up front, I want to go on record and say I’m a fan of AwesomeSauce76. I can’t help but smile and bite my lip and maybe squirm in my seat a little whenever I think of her panty ruining fic Last Tango in Forks.  And her oh-so-hot one shot Forever is probably my favorite mini vamp tale. She writes hot shit with characters you want to spend time with and get to know.

So, it’s no surprise that I loved her latest story, Brazilian Chocolate. At just over 31k words it is just the right size to sink your teeth into and savor in one sitting. And believe me. You’re going to want to carve out a little chunk of time to fully savor the longing and the heat in this one!

Edward is an isolated traveling consultant. Choosing to work with computers and programs instead of people.  And opting for holiday pay over holiday cheer.

Tired and annoyed with traveling.  Really, annoyed in general, he is headed home from Brazil after a holiday job.  Stuck at an airport because of a delayed flight and scrounging for reading material because of a misplaced cord, he hears it.

The laugh. Made by the distant crush that he has haunted him for so long. Connected to the same warm, brown eyes he has sought out here, in her homeland, and in every other location he has been sent to.

Bella Cigne. Really, she was less than a crush. She was his little brother’s foreign-exchange-student girlfriend. She was an attraction that was suddenly awakened within him. And immediately denied.

I pulled my sunglasses on and laid my head against the back of the chair, giving the impression that I was resting, when all I really wanted was an opportunity to just… look. Just one minute of being able to study her more closely without anyone knowing. It's not like it was any big deal; that's just what guys did. If you are in a swimsuit in front of a guy, ten times out of ten, you're gonna get looked at. The fact that it was my little brother's teenage girlfriend didn't change anything; it only meant that I had to be more secretive about it.

I started at her toes and worked my way up, sliding my eyes over her naturally bronzed skin. I loved that sheen on a woman's smooth legs when the sun hit them, and hers were no exception. I kept going, turning my head slightly to see better, but not enough so that she would notice. When I landed on her hips, I couldn't help but notice how much wider they were; she had formed quite the little hourglass while I was busy not paying any attention to her.

I had also noticed earlier, though she was currently laying on it, that she had developed one of the roundest, juiciest asses I had ever seen. It just didn't seem fair that something so perfectly sinful was wasted on my brother, who I was positive had absolutely no idea how to handle curves so vicious.

My eyes continued their journey, up over the basic one-piece teal swimsuit that would have seemed modest on anyone else, but on Bella it just looked delicious. I landed on the soft mounds of her breasts, not intending to linger, but was thrown off guard when I noticed exactly what had made Jasper so… frustrated.

She hadn't been lying when she had told him she was cold. Her tightened nipples were poking out through the material in her suit, so high that I could practically tell what time it was.

I didn't mean to stare, I really didn't, but I had no idea how long I looked at them. It was like they had little tractor beams attached to them. I had only wanted to do a quick once-over to appreciate a beautiful girl, not to practically start drooling on her like a dog staring at a bone.

Speaking of bone…

As soon as I noticed a familiar stirring inside my swim trunks, I jumped up quickly and ran inside the house, praying that nobody would notice before it got out of hand.

Flashbacks like this build and create the longing that had me hooked. Yes, the curves and sex appeal were new and not to be ignored, but the connection had already been forged. Edward has lived with this secret hunger for 16 years.

A chance encounter and a winter storm are all it takes to flips that switch.

After becoming reacquainted, Edward realizes this is not the young high school student he knew all those years ago. She has grown into an independent and loving woman who has learned the balance between making herself happy and keeping ties to the family that she doesn’t see eye to eye with.

She can also appreciate the value of timing. Once Edward’s covetous desire is revealed she is quick to point out that it would’ve been wrong then. But now is a different story.
And Bella’s ready to show Edward the difference.

"But now?" I choked out.
Rather than answer me, she did something that nearly made my knees buckle with weakness.

She kissed me.
Bella. Kissed. Me.
...
I had always wondered what it might be like to have something I had dreamed about for years actually come true. Now I was finding that the reality was ten thousand times better than the dream.

It was fucking euphoric.

I kissed her and kissed her, licking and biting at her lips in between, unwilling to let her go for even a second. She didn't seem to mind, running her fingers through my hair and moaning softly as our tongues danced together in a rhythm that our bodies were controlling.

She didn't taste like cinnamon… she tasted better. She tasted like sunshine and happiness and everything that was good in the world.\

I was already addicted.

The heat is dialed up to scorching after that, but does Edward have what it takes to hold on to his exotic beauty?  There’s only one way to find out, and you know you want to. So indulge in Brazilian Chocolate. You won’t regret it. And don’t forget to leave AwesomeSauce76 some love.

Review By: Jaime

I cannot lie… I’m a total and complete fangirl for cosmogirl7481. Her Edward’s are some of the loveliest, from Retail Therapy to Conversations Over Coffee to Edward in the Afternoon… I want each and every one of them and Solstice Edward is no exception.

This story has the potential to resonate with everyone.  If you’ve survived loving someone unscathed, I envy you.  This Bella has not, and from the very first words of the very first chapter we see the pain, the bitterness, the anger.

Sad.

Fucking depressing.

That's all I see as I look around this room. Not that I'm looking much. I'm just going to keep my head down, you know, mind my own fucking business. I can't believe that my therapist, Renata, thinks this is a good idea. It's not. And she'll see that it's not at our next session, when nothing has changed.

Nothing's ever going to change.

Unless we're talking about my life.

A chill covers me, so I put on my grey knit sweater. It's baggy and unattractive, but immediately I feel warmer…safer. I love the way it smells – a mixture of Downy and my perfume. I breathe in deeply, fucking thankful that he didn't buy it for me. The sweater or the perfume. I shouldn't have worn flip-flops because my feet are going to be cold. The thermostat in this place must be jacked down to sixty. They're probably afraid that a warm environment will lead to the spreading of our illnesses.

Is bitterness even contagious?

I think I love this Bella simply because I can relate. I've felt what she’s felt, knowing it's incredibly hard to move past devestating betrayal from a loved one.

We first meet Bella in a group therapy session for the divorced, recommended to her by her therapist, Renata.  Enter Edward.  He too has had his share of heartbreak and after she spills in her first meeting she asks the question:

And before I can stop myself, I hear me asking, "Yeah…but why?"

His face is serious, and he steps in closer. Too close. So close I can feel the heat emanating from his stupid, perfect body. I hear him breathe – I feel his breath across my face. And my whole body warms from the almost-contact. And I don't fucking move. I stand there frozen like a statue in the park.

"I'm divorced because…" he sighs loudly, leaning in to whisper in my ear. "My wife left me because my cock was too big for her tiny vagina."

Yeah, Cosmogirl7481 isn’t just breaking your heart in this story, she’s adding bits of life... soft, sweet and even the funny.  We get other personal stories from meeting attendees which are uniquely weaved into the story. The meetings ultimately prove to Bella that she’s not alone in the world. One of my favorite parts of this tale is so tender, yet hot and tantalizing. With descriptions so gorgeous and real, you can practically see it happening in your mind.

His thumb touches the corner of my mouth, wiping gently. It lingers there as he looks at my lips. And I'm looking at him, feeling the electric spark of his skin against mine. My heart is pounding, and I want to run away. But I also want to stay…and I'm just…I'm so fucking conflicted. Nervous and scared and more excited than I should allow myself to be.

His eyes flash to mine – so green and dark. And his cheeks are flushed like I feel. And I wonder if it's the wine…or if he's feeling like I'm feeling. And he looks back down to my mouth before slowly dragging his thumb across my bottom lip.

Ultimately, this story is about a soul who's been humiliated and devastated personally but hopefully coming out the other side stronger, and not letting the past color her self-worth. Sure, meeting Edward is a turning point for her, but he can’t fix everything. He can be patient and kind and share his opinion, but in the end, it’s up to her to take that step to trust and open herself up again and to realize that not all men are like her ex.

With daily updates from Cosmogirl7481, you’re not forced to wait long for the pieces of this gorgeous story.  Please go give it a read, you’ll be begging for more at the end of each and every chapter!

Overnight irresponsible Edward goes from bachelor to father of a 5 yr old. Meanwhile responsible, prepared Bella begins her first job as Kindergarten teacher at Forks Elementary. When irresponsible meets the epitome of responsible, sparks will fly! Twilight - Rated: M
Review By: LaMomo

Am I allowed, once again, to fangirl shamelessly? Because I will.

ItzMegan has given us the remarkable gem that is A Cannabean Bethrotal in the past and this other tale doesn't fall quite far from that mark.

The usual suspects all live in Forks, but this isn't the glamorous version of Forks where the Cullens dwell a multi-million dollar home with neverending glass panes or wear only designer clothes.
Edward, Emmett and Jasper work at the local wood mill. They scrimp and save. They work overtime. They live under the threat of job and hours cuts.
Edward lives in a down-trodden apartment. He is a reckless, self-absorbed, irresponsible bachelor.
Until.....a small, shy, traumatised and adorable five-year-old bundle named Anthony is dumped on his doorstep. Anthony is Edward's son. His mother Jessica died in a car crash. Edward never knew, till that day, that he'd fathered a child.
He tries - fighting ill-buried demons from his own troubled childhood - to incorporate Anthony into his life, but he is wholly unprepared for this.
He can't think for two people. He can't cook for two people. He can't even sleep one more person in his home.
Enter on Miss Isabella Swan, who moves to Forks on her appointment as kindergarten teacher.
Anthony's kindergarten teacher. She takes an immediate liking to the lonely, sad boy. The feeling is mutual. She senses that his family life is not perfect. She knows he is in mourning and extends an helping hand to his father. To no avail, because Edward, unknowingly, keeps up a confrontational, opinionated and prejudiced front against her.

Until...until he finally meets her. Until he understands she genuinely cares for Anthony and she isn't out for Edward's blood (figuratively speaking).
They begin spending time together. Anthony begins looking up to Bella as more than a teacher. Edward begins yearning for more.

There is definitely more to come, in all respects. This beautifully told tale depicts the intertwining lives of our well-known bunch of misfits, each with his/her own failings and virtues, each of them nursing his/her demons. They are all off to a rough start, sure, but they can walk down their chosen path together, slowly grappling with the awareness that their destinies are neither cast in stone nor determined by their pasts.

One key, tantalising word from Edward: "When."
Read.....and you'll understand...

Forget Me Not by SydneyAlice

With the help of his nurse, a man tries to put the pieces of his life back together. Will he be happy once the puzzle pieces fit, or will he wish his memories had remained a mystery? Updates daily! Twilight - Rated: M
Review By: Udo Blick / mephis1
A man wakes up disoriented and in pain. He finds himself in a hospital room with an assortment of injuries. He learns that he has been unconscious for three days and has been receiving treatment for his injuries, which fortunately turn out to be relatively minor. Unfortunately, he is unable to explain the how’s and why’s of his injuries or how he ended up unconscious, left for dead at Sol Duc Falls. Worse, when asked by Doctor Cheney, he discovers that he is suffering from some form of memory loss and other than instinctively knowing that his first name is Edward, he is unable to recall either his last name or where he is from.

The first chapter sets up the central questions of Forget Me Not: Who is this man? Where is he from? Why was he beaten up and left for dead in the woods? Does he have enemies? Is Edward a good man? Does he have a family, a wife or loved ones? Is anyone searching for him? Using memory loss as the fulcrum to build a highly readable story, Forget Me Not raises these questions about Edwards’s identity and the nature of his past. Yet, as story progressively builds, we find that as one question is answered, another one is inevitably raised.

In short, Edward’s identity, plus the nature of his life prior to appearing in Forks is shrouded in mystery, wrapped in an enigma. This is where SydneyAlice shines as a writer. With an assured touch, she uses the plot device of Edward’s amnesia to build a multi-layered, well-structured story about love, identity, the meaning of belonging and of family. Moreover, Forget Me Not asks these questions: do the mistakes in one’s past determine one’s present? Is identity fixed?  Is who one was in the past determine the person in the present?

Thankfully, in attempting to solve the riddles of his identity, the nature of his past and the mystery of how he ended up in Forks, Edward also learns that he is not alone in his search. With the help of generous, good-hearted people such as Charlie and Bella, he begins to piece together these answers.

At the point of reading and reviewing this story (chapter 16), the other main protagonists of this story are Charlie (the sheriff of Forks), Bella and Lily (his daughter and grand-daughter, respectively). With their help, Edward slowly but surely heals from his external injuries. He also gets hints about what he was like prior to his memory loss. For example, he discovers that he knows how to play the piano and that his last name may or may not be Mason or Masen. But most importantly, he finds himself falling in love with Bella as he gradually builds a life in Forks. In doing so, Edward is faced with a dilemma: does he want to know the man he was before his memory loss? Is the man he was before worthy of Bella’s love?

And no doubt, as the story builds and these initial questions are answered, other characters and questions will be introduced to propel the story forward. I also have no doubt that each chapter will add up to a well-written, multi-textured story about love, memory and identity.

Yet again, in doing so, SydneyAlice reveals herself as a confident writer.

The steady pace of the narrative combined with well-written dialogue pulls the reader into a highly compelling story. The characters are sympathetically drawn with back-stories that are slowly revealed through a series of chapters. One of the hallmarks of a good writer is that we find ourselves rooting for the characters, and identifying with their daily ups and downs. For example, when SydneyAlice discloses Bella’s story, she does this without resorting to extraneous detail. In broad brushstrokes yet without losing any emotional resonance, the writer portrays a female character who isn’t perfect; she made mistakes in her youth yet she is not her mistakes.  Who she was in that past doesn’t determine who she is the present. The Bella in the present is a loving mother; she is a generous, sweet-natured, big-hearted and emotionally mature woman. I suspect this other theme of Forget Me Not (i.e. does our past determine who and what we are in the present?) is an important one in Forget Me Not but then, I may be woefully mistaken. But I’m really hoping I’m not far off the mark...

Will Edward get the answers to his questions? Will those answers open a Pandora’s box to reveal the true nature of Edward? Will these answers lead to him wishing that his true identity remained a mystery instead? Will Edward and Bella be able to continue to love each other and receive their HEA? Or will the fallout from Edward’s past tear them apart and prevent them from having a future? Updated daily, Forget Me Not is indeed a compelling must read.

Secrets and Lies by BellaScotia

Bella once told a lie. A lie that cost her everything she ever wanted. 10yrs later, she returns to her hometown to an ailing father, an angry ex-best friend, and the man from whom she has kept a secret that threatens to unravel her existence. AH OOC M

review by: ChocolateLover82

I can’t remember the way I got to this story in the first place, but I’m really glad I did.

In early chapters, each of them left me wanting for more to try figuring out just how Bella and Edward got to that place, and lately (now that story is coming to an end) wanting to read more of their time together.

Bella fell in love and started a relationship with Edward when she was in high school and he was a much older married doctor, trapped in a loveless marriage. The connection they shared was both powerful and beautiful and absolutely impossible to resist. They had to keep everything in hiding, and that took a toll on both of them.

When their relationship is discovered, Bella is left alone out there for everyone to judge and point. In her mind, Edward left her to be with his wife again and everything they shared was a lie. It was such a pain to realize that he never loved her, that the only thing that made sense at the time was leaving town ... just not quite alone.

Ten years later, she returns to Forks to take care of her dying father and she not only has to face the people she left behind, but also the consequences of her decisions, good and bad.

BellaScotia develops a well written story with the perfect amount of heartbreak and suspense. I love her BPOV and how believable it is the way Bella deals with everything. She gets mad, she cries, she’s helpless ... everything in a situation that’s out of her control now.

Bella’s scared about what will happen once her secret is out, because it will, but she knows that needs to happen, and that fear grows exponentially when Edward returns to her life once again. It doesn’t help that he’s also a changed man, so different from the one she met ten years go.

The nightmares I've had this week are nothing compared to this. I feel like I've been pulled into some kind of alternate reality. Though I never expected him to be the same, I didn't expect him to be this changed. There is no kindness in his eyes, nothing of the caring, compassionate man I found it so easy to pour my heart out to.

BellaScotia also shows us Bella’s beautiful relationship with her son Jacob, their love for one another is palpable and we feel protective of them, not wanting anyone to mess with that.

Jacob is clamped to my side and squeezing my hand as tightly as he can. Over the past few days there has been a change in him. He has taken over the role of protector – never leaving my side, and always asking me how I'm doing. My love for him has been the sole thing that has motivated me to even try to function properly.

We also see that even though she did a fantastic job in raising him, turning him into one of the most adorable, caring and witty little Jacobs out there, Bella has not really been living at all, just mostly surviving for the sake of her son and hiding from everything that hurt her.

This story deals with real problems and real situations. How secrets and its consequences not only changed the lives of Bella and Edward, but also of everyone around them. When Bella left, she was protecting herself, but there was a lot she didn’t know at the time and finding out these things ten years later brings great amounts doubt and guilt.

BellaScotia also wrote a few EPOV in her story ‘Edward’s Secrets and Lies’ for this story that are simply a must. We see that his actions in this story come from hurt most of all, hurt from the woman that he’s tried to forget for ten years and at the same time, scared to do so.

I truly recommend you to give this story a try. I hope I’m not giving away too much, but this story is more about the journey they take trying to come to grips with everything that happened back then and try to form a new future, if there is a chance at that. The seriousness of the situation is well developed by the author, nothing is rushed and the way the characters react is believable, even if at times we want to shake them.

Not everything is serious of course, and lately I find myself grinning like an idiot at their actions, especially Jacob’s. These last chapters are simply a joy to read. I love reading the evolution in them and how they are getting used to this new life and finding their way back.

I’m sad that the story is coming to an end soon and more so that it’s BellaScotia’s last fic. But at least we’ll always have her stories to read in the future.

Go read, you won’t regret the journey.

The Education of Professor Cullen by Sheviking
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5910879/1/The_Education_of_Professor_Cullen
College professor Edward Cullen is thoroughly annoyed by his student Ms. Swan. Everything about her bothers him, and he longs for the semester to be over. But what happens when he meets her one night when they aren't in school? Lemons and naughty language Twilight  Rated: M

Review By: BellaFlan
When I started reading The Education of Professor Cullen, I was expecting a little PWP... and I was okay with that! Sheviking surprised me by creating rich characters that I immediately wanted to fuck and cuddle. Professorward is a dichotomy of innocence and experience - he’s Bella’s prof, but is utterly clueless when it comes to women. Bella takes it upon herself to teach him the wonders of the pussy.

In a clever nod to the inappropriate kink dynamic of a student/teacher liaison, the story opens with Edward's class discussing the iconic and controversial novel, Lolita.

A guy in the back suggested that the main character Humbert was a degenerate and was not in control of his own actions and therefore he should be allowed a little clemency.
"But you can't actually defend his actions," a red-haired girl whose name I had forgotten argued. "He's a complete pervert and he corrupts the girl!"
"Actually, I think it's the other way around," Ms. Swan said without looking up from her notes.
"What?" the other girl said. "Are you serious?"
"As a heart attack," Ms. Swan said. "I'm fairly certain that Lolita is the one who corrupts Humbert. She seduces him and he loves it. What guy wouldn't?"
"But she's just a kid!" the redhead insisted.
"That she is, but she's well aware of what she's doing when she seduces him. She has had sex before him and afterwards he is basically eating out of the palm of her hand. I am not saying that what he did wasn't wrong, but you have to remember that he sees her as a young woman and he himself only possesses the emotional maturity of a twelve year old."

This foreshadows the impending relationship between Bella and her teacher, she, the Lolita to Edward's Humbert.

Where Edward lacks in sexual experience, Bella excels, but at times, I wonder if her sexual prowess is a reaction to the emotional abuse she endured from her ex boyfriend, James. This Bella is indeed broken, but not in the typical canon fashion. In a subversive reference to New Moon, Bella has abandonment issues, only it's she who does the leaving.

Whatever, right? We all have our flaws. But you know what makes her awesome? This:

"Wait, what are you doing?" I asked nervously.
She looked up at me with curiosity in her eyes.
"Well, I'm taking off your pants, Edward. Or would you prefer to do this on the bed?"
Do what? What are we doing? What am I doing? Why am I not leaving?
"D-do what?" I stammered.
She stood up and kissed my lips lightly.
"Have sex," she said slowly, as if I was retarded in some way, which frankly wasn't that far off at this moment. "I would love to have sex with you, Edward."

Yep, she's my kind of Bella. The angst level in this story is relatively low, the smut level is high and silly at times. This excerpt alone should make you want to read:

I let out a chuckle which soon turned into a laugh.
"What?" Isabella asked, lifted her head and gave me an amused look.
"I was just imagining discussing our future while you still have that thing in you," I explained and stroked her backside gently.
"Oh," she grinned. "Probably better to save that for another time."

I love a beautiful, romantic moment involving an buttplug. Win!

This story is one you can laugh, cry, and Jack kerouwhak-off to. I'm gagging for the last two chapters

We Come to Life Beneath the Stars by Lillybellis-
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6058476/1/We_Come_to_Life_Beneath_the_Stars
As Bella Swan starts over with hopes of finding her future, Edward Cullen is hanging on desperately to his past. She's treading water, and he's a corporate golden boy. They share an office, but few words...until one night changes everything. Twilight - Rated: M
Review By: edmazing

Phoenix stories are my own personal brand of heroin. As much as I love the whirlwind that is romance and fluff, nothing keeps me up and clicking “Next” like a story of two people becoming more than they were, independently and jointly. These stories nurture my heart and feed my soul. We Come to Life Beneath the Stars by Lilybellis does this in such a subtle, but gripping way.

Bella Swan had been going through the motions. She has put together a good life for herself. Well, that’s not entirely accurate. She has allowed her underachieving and overbearing mother to design her life. From the outside looking in it’s a great view; academic accolades, a career with endless possibilities for growth, and an acceptable man on her arm. At one time this might have been enough for Bella, but that feeling is slipping away.

“My head involuntarily falls to the side when he kisses my neck, and I put my hands over his as he touches me, because I want this. I want him to touch me the way that he used to; not just with his hands that have always made me feel so good, but with that wonderful, intangible thing that made our hearts fly, and our skin tremble, and bound us together more tightly than our arms and legs and lips ever could. It's missing, along with everything else that used to make us who we were, and I know that this is our last chance to find it.”

One of the things I love most about this story is the realities it contains. As Bella begins to rewrite her life and take ownership of it she is forced to examine who she is, embrace the things she likes about herself and amend those that have been holding her back. She is taking back the reigns.

By contrast, Edward is and has almost always been in charge. Circumstance beyond his control brought an abrupt end to his adolescence and forced him into the role of head of the household. He has learned to shoulder the burden and hide the toll it takes on him.

This story is filled with universal truths, one of which is that opposites attract and impact each other. The growth in We Come to Life Beneath the Stars is gradual, believable, and something you can take away with you and fully appreciate because of the honesty of its example.

"Life would be so much less confusing if everything worked out like it does in the movies."
He laughs over the creaky chains as we swing and sway. "How so?"

"You know, two people are separated for years over some misunderstanding, and then there's a grand gesture, and the world is right again. They have a good cry, then walk off into the sunset or whatever. It'd be nice if that worked in real life. If one big effort was enough to heal everything."

"That would just be a Band-Aid, Bella. Not real."

Oh, and “not real” is far from what this story is filled with. We have individuals that help and support each other instead of launching into a codependent love that is supposed to heal all wounds. A foundation is laid, trust is slowly established, and when the time is right, love blooms.

He puts his hand on the side of my face when I turn to him, and I lean into his touch. His thumb skims across my cheek, and his eyes are so beautiful and content.
"No one knows me like you do," he whispers.

I push up on the tips of my toes and kiss him, to seal those words on his lips with mine, to make them part of the two of us, because I don't want a single person on this earth to know his mind, his heart, or his body as well as I do. He's my favorite book; I'll read him forever and still not know enough, and when I reach the end I'll keep looking for more pages to turn.
And with my lips close to his so he can feel what I say, I tell him, "No one loves me like you do."

I'm not just talking about the way he always makes my stomach flip, or my knees feel like jelly. I know how special it is to find someone who grounds you and makes you fly, someone who pushes you and catches you, someone who calms your heart and unravels your body.
He is that someone for me.

I strive to find those perfect love stories. The ones that remind you of what true love is. The stories that refill your soul. That reignite that passion to reach for happiness. I am happy to say that this and so much more is true for We Come to Life Beneath the Stars and I’m so excited to share it with you. I loved reading it the first time and I know this one of the stories that I will reread and gain more from each time.

Featured Fics this week on TLS:

MANY THANKS TO OUR GUEST REVIEWERS LaMoMo and Nicole this week, thank you so much for your time.
Tunes with Tony Masen by Just4ALE

Summary: Our late night calls were fascinating. His attitude in person was frustrating. Stupid radio host with the velvety, seductive voice. Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde? Will the real Tony Masen please stand up?

Bella analyses data for a living, and lives to decode enigmas. Puzzles, codes, crosswords, trivia, you name it. She solves it. Her mind can break down everything and see relations and associations where the human eye can't even begin to fathom them. Her past is a secret that she can't share, and there are broken bridges that she can't and won't mend and that she keeps running away from. The other passion in her life is music. 70's music, if you please. Not disco, not the 80's. Let's stick to the serious stuff, the connoisseur stuff. There's a connoisseur above all others in San Francisco, and it's Tony Masen, the DJ hosting Tunes with Tony Masen every night on KFOG radio.
What do Tony and Bella have in common? Music, for starters. They are both connoisseurs and they are both very picky with their tastes. Quizzes are a close second. Tony asks quizzes about music trivia on his show, and the sheer difficulty makes them accessible to "only the brave". Bella is one of the "brave", though Tony knows her as "Izzy". She is a regular caller, and she regularly gets the answers to Tony's unbelievably complicated and mysterious music trivia. They talk. A lot. On-air. Off-air. But is this real? Is there a connection, a relation, an association, as in Bella's puzzles?
There is. On a deeper level. Be prepared to follow them, and investigate.
The story will get you riveted. Tony's voice will mesmerise you. The plot will leave you hanging like a Sherlock Holmes mystery and will make you jump on your seat like The Fugitive. You will get mad when you don't get the answers to the trivia or the movie references.
You will be completely floored when you discover what Alice's profession - REAL profession - is.
Be warned. And now run to read it....and Run Through The Jungle with Izzy and Tony (and, by the way, Just4ALE - why isn't there YET a chapter on Creedence Clearwater Revival????)
Summary: He wanted to be the most powerful man on earth. As far as she was concerned, he already was. Love. Longing. A decade of regret. Time changes nothing...or does it?
What if your first love that broke your heart ended up being a very powerful political figure?
What if you flew home to spend Thanksgiving with old friends and your true love ended up seated
beside you on that flight, where you could not escape? In Sleepy Valentina's FALL TO RUIN ONE DAY, Bella Swan fell in love with Edward Cullen in college. His political aspirations & lifestyle tore
them apart until he ends up next to her on a flight home for the holidays. Bella finds out for
herself that her heart, nor his, has ever healed. The question is will they get another chance at
happily ever after? I am completely owned by stories of True Love Never Fails like this one is.
If you love romance at all, you want to read this story.
~Nicole
Summary: Bella is captured by Vikings and brought with them to their home
country where her new fate awaits. Can she ever find happiness being a slave?
Will it make a difference that she is given to Edward to be his bed thrall?
Rated M for old time lemons.
Sheviking doesn't really need introductions. If you haven't read The Education of Professor Cullen or The Blizzard, you're either living under a rock, or missing a few essential staples in your general Twilight Fanfic Education.
This latest endeavour of hers, however, is a completely different mix. It's a period fic - where Edward, renamed Edvard for the occasion, and the rest of the usual suspect have stepped back in time a few centuries and transported into the savage, merciless, godless and ruthless civilisation of Vikings.
Truefacts? To our Isabella (an Englishwoman kidnapped from English shores during a Viking raid) these are true facts, they are the very tenets of her beliefs regarding this alien, warlike and fierce race. And her attitude stems from those beliefs from the very moment she crashes into Edvard's life as his serf, more specifically, as his new bed thrall.
It's a story of a bitter cultural crash, with two civilisation moudls that are as deep-rooted as they can be, and as such they are taken for granted by either Edvard and Isabella. It's a story of conflicted feelings and loyalties. It's a story, beautifully written and with a very clever and respectful "localisation" of our beloved canon characters that does not betray the essence of the characters as we know them but, on the contrary, enhances some of their most appreciated and cherished traits - Edvard's intense feelings, his protective instincts, his absolute belief in Bella on one hand, and Bella's inner strength, her ability to adapt to circumstances, her learning experience as she finds herself on alien shores.
It is hard to believe that this story started out in jest as a one-shot, out of a very funny and hot "what if" conversation where a group of fanfic addicts lamented the absence of a Viking Edward. Sheviking all too willingly rose to the occasion, and gave us this latest gem, concocting a bewitching, scorchingly hot story, even through the long and stressful last months of her pregnancy. Now that she has been safely and blissfully delivered of a healthy, beautiful Baby Viking Boy, join us in congratulating her and the rest of the Viking family, as we (not so) patiently wait for more.

Here I am

Smooches
Summary: Soon-to-be college senior needs a summer job. Edward Cullen needs a worker for his new tasting room at Cullen Creek Brewery. She doesn't know much about beer, but she knows how to push his buttons.

Unusual fanfic location? Check. This story takes us to Burlington, Vermont. The usual suspects work together, but are not corporate moghuls? Check. The Cullen brothers and Jasper have a brewery, Cullen Creek. An usual, mysterious, fascinating Bella? Check. She is a vet student, independent, sassy, and sweet at the same time.
A slightly older, absolutely conflicted, self-berating, brooding and Edward? Check. He's going through a rough divorce, so we don't (or we do? watch out on this) have to worry about Tanya and he's fighting against time so that the brewery will make the grand opening day with a splash.  Our most beloved star-crossed lovers are faced with conflict and impediments? Check. Bella is Edward's employee, thanks to Emmett's snap decisions.

This story flows smoothly and effortlessly through its verbal humour, the charming setting of a New England summer, the constant banter and comedy of errors of a sassy, sarcastic and slightly secretive Bella that integrates very quickly in the mostly masculine staff of the brewery, much to Edward's continued and ill-contained chagrin.
The added allure and mystery of all this is that the author, of Cullen Sutras fame, has wisely and wickedly (for us poor readers) chosen to stick to one point of view up to now, and we are herded along the story through Edward's sometimes (often) warped perception of things, as he strings us along his barely contained hormones, his gradual realisation of a marriage that was never there to begin with, and his continued fascination with the multi-faceted, riveting canvas that is Bella's mind and heart.
Those who are also fond of the Cullen power couple, aka Esme and Carlisle, will be happy to hear that this story offers a very unsual, but highly entertaining Doctor Cullen.
A sip of beer at a time (with recommendations, and a whole lot of to-the-point and well-informed research on the matter), the reader can't but drink this all in, and remains thirsty, waiting for more.
