The Lemonade Stand has spent so many years bringing you the best the Twilight fandom has to offer, and we are very excited to have the chance to offer you even MORE. We've watched stories grow and develop from first post through COMPLETE, and now we're lucky enough to share previews of the stories that will soon be your new addiction.

This week we are thrilled to feature LaMomo, author of fandom favorites Correct the Narrative, Behind the Ivories and Business Class Girl. Today, she's sharing a preview of her upcoming fic Shape the Narrative.

Shape the Narrative
by
LaMomo

Summary: After years of pining for Bella from afar, Edward finally confessed his feelings to her.  But between their age difference and busy careers—Bella’s impending MBA graduation, Edward’s academia at Cornell—will they be able to navigate all the challenges they face in their new relationship? Sequel to "Correct the Narrative." OlderWard, LawyerWard. Follow their fast-paced romance as they shape their narrative.

o~OO~o

Edward and Bella’s story begins in "Correct the Narrative", where they both work at the Atlanta law firm founded and managed by Edward’s father Carlisle Cullen, and his uncle, James Masen. Edward is a partner there, while Bella is the go-getter marketing manager.  Along with the rest of the gang at the firm, and between office gossip and various mishaps, one of which threatens Bella directly, we ultimately learn how Edward has loved Bella from afar for many years while she’s worked within arm’s length of him. By the end of the story, Edward gathers up the courage to confess his feelings, and happily discovers that she reciprocates his sentiments and wants to pursue a relationship with him.

In “Shape the Narrative,” Edward and Bella will have to learn how to navigate their new relationship as their careers travel different paths.

Bella’s MBA graduation from Emory looms over the horizon, while Edward leaves clients and briefs behind for the halls of academia. But as the couple quickly discover, his semester as a visiting professor at Cornell cuts into his time with Bella. He wants their relationship to go full speed ahead, yet Bella’s head still needs to catch up with her heart.

The challenges don’t end there, though—work proves tricky for the two lovebirds, with new people in the office who may or may not have hidden agendas against them.

How will Edward and Bella beat the odds and shape their own narrative?

Find out on Saturday, November 26 when the story posts to these platforms:

None of my stories would be possible without Team Momo, and I’m so grateful they follow my crazy ramblings. Shout out to them: Midnight Cougar and Alice’s White Rabbit wield the beta’ing pens; Agoodwitch, Driving Edward, Eternally Addicted Maplestyle, mcc101180, and Robsmyyummycabanaboy pre-read.

Here’s a snippet of how they begin to “Shape the Narrative”:

Apartment 2A. This was the place. I rang the doorbell and waited.

Bella’s voice filtered from inside. “One moment please!”

I hoped she wouldn’t open without checking. This building was in a good part of town, but it had no security. I worried about her living here all alone when she told me her home address. I’d never pictured this before. I’d never ventured to think what her living space might look like. It was one of the million little things about her I’d denied myself while I thought we didn’t have a chance at a real relationship.

But here I was. Here we were. A week after that heartfelt, soul-baring, galvanizing talk we’d had in my mother’s sunroom, I stood outside Bella’s apartment to pick her up for our first date.

Some shuffling sounds came, muffled by the closed door, then the metallic clink of keys in a lock. The door opened, revealing her—my Bella.

Summary: Edward’s life is seamlessly perfect, and he has grown to hate it. Perhaps the snarky girl who’s assigned to the locker next-door can shake things up for the better.

“Don’t you have somewhere else you can be?” Tanya asked impatiently.

“Yes, and I can’t get there fast enough to get away from all the noise.” Bella turned and started to walk down the empty hall.  “Enjoy your overpriced trash of the sea.”

“I’ll have you know lobster is a delicacy,” Tanya called after her.

Bella flipped her middle finger in the air and kept going.

“Honestly, she’s horrible. I don’t understand why they let people like her in here. She’s completely uncivilized,” Tanya complained.

“It’s a public school, they can’t refuse her. And she’s not wrong. Lobster was once considered a trash food since they are bottom feeders. They were given to prisoners to eat during the Revolutionary War. It wasn’t until after the 1880s when it started to become more popular,” I informed her.

“Whose side are you on?” Tanya stamped her foot.

“It has nothing to do about sides—it’s a fact.” I shrugged.

“Whateves, are you ready to go to lunch?” Tanya asked, latching onto my arm. “Everyone is probably wondering where we are.”

“Actually, I need to run to my car first. Go ahead without me.” I had to get out of here and it was the best excuse I could come up with.

“Fine. Don’t be long.” Tanya walked off, her heels clicking along the way.

I heaved a sigh and left the building. The sky was overcast like my mood. I walked at a snail’s pace, in no hurry to go into the cafeteria and continue to play the perfect anything. I leaned up against my car and tilted my head back. Not even the fresh air could relax me. I needed a change before I snapped.

I spotted Bella, sitting in the back of her truck. She was balancing her drawing pad on her knees while she drew with one hand and nibbled on an apple with the other. Her flannel was off, and I could see another tattoo of a Celtic design that wrapped around her upper biceps.

Maybe she was what I needed. After all she was much different than everyone else I knew, and she seemed content with her life. I headed over to her and paused by the truck. I shifted from foot to foot, trying to think how to approach her.

“Did you get lost, Ace? The cafeteria is that way.” She pointed with her pencil.

“Actually, I was looking for you,” I told her.

“Me? Why?” She glanced away from her sketch.

“I need your help with something,” I said nervously.

“What could I possibly help you with? The only subjects we have together are Physics and History, and we don’t have anything due,” she asked. “Why can’t Tanya help you? She’s your girlfriend,” Bella pointed out.

“Tanya can’t help me,” I said.

“O…kay. Then Emmett.” She shrugged. The strap of her tank top slipped, and I was distracted. Did she not have a bra on?  My cock started to stir, and I prayed she didn’t look down.

“Emmett can’t…you know what, forget it.” I started to walk away.

This was a stupid idea.

“Ace, wait!” she called after me. “I’m not trying to be a bitch. We barely speak more than a sentence or two unless we’re working on a lab together. So, forgive me for not understanding why out of all the people at school you’d come to me.”

“It’s…” I chickened out of what I was going to say. “A.P. History, you know the test is coming up next month. I was hoping we could study together.”

“Oh…” She blinked a few times. “Sure. When would you like to start?”

“How about after school?” I adjusted the book strap on my shoulder.

EPOV

“I can’t believe you're making me come with you. Why you gotta be such a fucking pussy?” I sighed, flicking my cigarette onto the sidewalk. Assholes need their hands held to carry out a simple task. Amateurs.

Alistair flipped his long, greasy blond hair, rolling his eyes. “Not everyone bags a bone as well as you, EC.” He patted me on the shoulder as I reached around my back for my glock, lifting it from my waistband under my suit jacket.

“Stop kissing my ass and get your fucking nine out. You need a lesson on how to use it now too?” I didn't need someone blowing smoke up my ass—I could call Lauren for that shit.

We walked down the cobblestone street for half a block more before ducking into the alley. I knocked on the metal door in the middle of the alleyway exactly three times. Felix, a muscular body-building type of guy, answered the door, pouting like the little bitch he could be. I would typically think he was your average fanuk, but he happened to be a great hitman. At least he wasn’t a fucking stunad like Alistair. I was stuck with him because of Aro “calling in a favor” or some shit. Everybody wanted to get on my nerves today it seemed. As if I didn’t have enough on my plate, I had to train the new kid. Because it was so fucking hard to ice people.

“Hey man.” Felix extended his hand, pulling me in for a hug, patting me on the back a few times before letting go. At least he wasn’t like Aro or Marcus who always wanted a double cheek kiss. Typical freaking guineas. Took one to know one I suppose.

Alistair stood there, uncomfortably, waiting for me to introduce him, I guess. Rolling my eyes, I said, “Felix, this is Alistair, or my new shadow for god knows how long.” I gestured to the dirty-looking kid next to me. Geez, you’d think his new lifestyle could afford him a nice suit or something. He looked like he just rolled out of bed. Adjusting my watch, I looked to Felix, dying to leave already or at the very least get a drink from the bar. “Peter ready for me?”

Felix nodded eagerly. “Yep, he’s in the back. Don’t worry, the package is there too.” He gave me a side smirk. He walked to his corner in the poorly lit back room, and I started down the hallway. As I approached the door, I looked behind me and found Alistair where I left him by the supply closet Felix called an office.

“What the fuck?” I outstretched my arms, widening them. Why did I have to get stuck with this shit?

He walked down the corridor, meeting me halfway. He bit his lip and looked at me wide-eyed. “Is the assignment in there?” His voice was shaky, and I could see a tremble in the hand that was holding his piece.

I tried to run my fingers through my hair, but they got stuck, leaving me frustrated. I knew it was a mistake gelling it back today. Taking a deep breath and attempting to have patience, I nodded. If I spoke to him, I would probably end up yelling. And by the looks of him, he was already shitting his pants. My temper wouldn’t help anything. “Well, EC–” He stammered, and there went my patience.

“You gotta problem with that? Thought you told Aro that you got this shit under control,” I taunted. I knew full well he’d never iced someone before, but it was fun reminding him of that. You never forget your first kill…

“I’ve never gone all the way before,” he whispered, looking around like it was some big secret.

“You think I don’t know that? What do you take me for—a mamaluke?” Sheesh this fucking kid needed to calm the fuck down before I iced him. Aro would be “disappointed,” but I think he’d understand.

“No, sir. I’m just nervous. I mean, this is all over a few Gs missing?” he asked. This asshole really had the audacity to question why we were icing someone. I didn’t even challenge that, and I was way higher in rank.

Rule number one in mafia life: don’t mess with the fucking paper. It was literally the most important rule.
