TLS Fics of the Week Reviews - This is why they're hot.....

Bring on the Wonder by Bronzehyperion

Bella works the streets of Seattle as a prostitute. Edward is waiting to be ordained as a Catholic priest. Is there anything they have to offer each other? Or are there just sacrifices they both have to make… All human. Rated M for a reason.

Bring on the Wonder review by SweetPoeticJustice author of 4 stories for Twilight

We'll always be two different worlds, him and me.

Heaven and hell.

Angel and demon.

Sinner and saint.

Prostitute and priest.

Edward is working his way to becoming an ordained Catholic priest, Bella is a prostitute their ways of life, beliefs and the path each is currently headed down could not be more dissimilar.

Religion is Edward’s life; Bella shuns all religion and its teachings. Edward is patient, mild mannered and rarely if ever allows a curse word to leave his lips. Bella’s emotions could give you whip lash and the words that most often leave her tongue could rival that of the dirtiest talking sailor. How do two people so completely different from each come to meet and could their encounter change the paths of both of their lives forever? Is this a match made in heaven or hell?

Bring On the Wonder is a fic unlike anything else I have read. Its Author Bronzehyperion takes on a storyline many would be afraid to attempt and pulls off the ambitious and possibly controversial subject matter with grace and poise.  Keep in mind it does cover subject matters that may not be for everyone, there is some violent acts that happen and because of Bella’s feeling and stance on religion there are moments of religion being criticized and made fun of. Please don’t let that discourage you from reading. Bronzehyperion attacks these matters in what I feel is a very tactful way

Bring On the Wonder is unique and thought provoking story that has beauty and depth to it. It is wonderfully well-written and has completely enraptured me and quickly has become one of my favorites. The author is not Catholic herself but has obviously delved into its teaching and workings researching each to make the story as accurate as possible. The time and commitment not only put into writing the story but researching its subject matter is quite apparent as you read.

The chapters alternate between Bella’s point of view and Edwards but it is never repetitive. Understanding why Bella is a prostitute and why Edward wants to be a priest through their own minds eye is vital for the reader to be able to connect with the characters properly. The alternating points of view illuminate not only their obvious differences but show their similarities ones an outsider would not normally know or see.

The average whore spends about 80 percent of her day on her knees.

I think. Fuck, I don't know if that's factually true. I am not Amstat. What I do know is that my knees are sore and roughed up because I spend 80 percent of my workday on my knees.

It's not shocking men love to get sucked off. It might be shocking to know most of them don't mind wearing a rubber when they get sucked off. Sure, you have your pick of idiots who don't want to use protection at all. But that's their loss really, because fuck me if they don't risk a kick in the nuts for that kind of whining.

What? You think I'd take some random fucker's cock in my mouth and suck him off without protection?

That was my first lesson in Prostitution 101: what NOT to do. Never give someone a blowjob without him wearing a condom. In fact, never do anything without a condom, period.

Seems easy right? Seems smart. Well fuck me if I haven't seen girls catch STDs or HIV because they got tricked into letting a customer fuck them without protection.

It even happened to the only friend I had: Angela. Saint Fucking Angela.

Bella lives with her best friend and fellow prostitute Angela. Angela is HIV positive and one of
the kindest and most selfless people you will ever meet. After running away and escaping her father and his cult followers Angela ended up resulting to prostitution out of desperation.

One evening Angela convinces Bella to tag along when she goes to donate a check to the community center something Angela does as often as she can. Not feeling comfortable entering the community center in her tight red leather pants and black zip up leather top which speaks loudly of her chosen profession Bella waits outside while Angela goes inside and meet’s with Alice the community centers director. While waiting outside Bella has her first encounter with Edward Cullen

"Excuse me," a deep smooth voice pulled me from my reverie.

The voice belonged to a figure. A male figure, I could tell, even though most of his face was hidden in the shadows. A male figure that sounded like an angel too. Fuck, was it this location? Did the community center have an aura of attracting fucking saints now? No wonder Ang liked it here.

The sight of Edward and his proximity invoked feelings in Bella she hadn’t felt in a long time, feelings she had numbed long ago as an occupational precaution.

My body hadn't given a signal of wanting to get fucked willingly in a long time.

This guy, with hair that looked like he was pulling at it a lot because it stuck out everywhere– how fucking kinky – and eyes that made me want to come in ways I had never believed possible, destroyed my numbness completely with one smile.

Double shit.

That was the first night I wanted to fuck Edward Cullen.

This first brief meeting between the two has a significant impact on their lives from then on out. Neither understanding why the other has affected them so much. Edward struggles with what he views as impure thoughts and feelings about a Bella. This is a first for Edward, always being so focused on his path towards the priesthood his mind and body have never given the idea of attraction towards a woman a second thought. These new found feelings fill Edward with guilt as he struggles with how to deal with them.

"Bless me, Father, for I have sinned. It's been three weeks since my last confession."

I'd gone to confession at least once a month for many years – I wanted to be a good Catholic and it also served me on the path to be ordained as a priest someday – but never had I actually felt that I was confessing to something that showed a faltering in my devotion. It made me feel truly ashamed.

"Yesterday I had inappropriate thoughts about a woman," I spoke, my voice shaking slightly.

It was the first time I had confessed to such an act and it made my heart ache to feel this kind of guilt. I had failed my Lord. I had failed Father Masen, who had provided me guidance since I'd been a teenager. I had failed my faith. Myself.

Despite all this circumstances happen and they are brought into each other’s lives. Bella finds herself in some serious trouble and is enlisted to take part in the Redemption program ran by the community center. Edward happens to be a volunteer for this program and is assigned to be Bella’s “buddy” it is his job to guide her on the path to the straight and narrow.

What will happen as these two opposites attract even when they do all they can to resist it, how will this change their lives for good? Will Edward give up the priesthood for the love he could share with Bella? Only time will tell.

Could Be Worse, Right? by Savage7289

I'm tired of the dating scene. I'm tired of trying to be the nice boyfriend. I am letting go of the last scruple I have. I'm going to buy a slave. Edward/Bella. M for obvious reasons. If you don't like this sort of thing, don't read it.

My Review for Could Be Worse, Right? By ttharman

So of course if you are like me you love Savage7289 she funny, sexy and confident all in one. She writes some of the most kick ass stories and you never quite know what ride she will take you on. So with CBWR, we have Edward who own successful technology “ company”  and dabbles in  some illegal dealings.

Now our Edward has no idea how to deal with woman, but then again what man does?  He thinks that if he had someone to just to have sex with then he life would be better, oh poor Edward can you really be that stupid? Yes he can be and he proves that to us.  So through one of his business associates he buys a sex slave….he treats it almost like buying a car. Color, height, weight, age, & virginity…..yeah he did that too.

So Edward gets his slave, and then has no idea what to do with her, imagine that? He realizes that he has to buy her clothes, toiletries, and basically tell her what to do, because hey she is a slave and won’t do anything without permission. Edward completely freaks out and calls Alice, who in turn is ready to rip him a new one because he bought a slave. The irony there is Alice is a little shady herself; she is a hit woman who kills people for a living. Maybe Edward will be on her list….We meet up with Rose, Emmett, Jasper and The Pack who all want to take Edward out a time or two.

Through conversation we learn more about Edward’s childhood as well as Bella’s and you kind of feel sorry for him. I did anyway, no I don’t condone the buying of a sex slave, and I don’t think Edward realized the guilt and repercussions he was going to have to deal with when he decided to buy Bella. So we have all of the thoughts and the mental anguish he goes through, and then a real person seems to emerge one with a conscience anyway.

He realizes his wrong and wants to make it right, so he tries to save Bella if you will. We go through their journey of Bella trying to save Edward from his demons and Edward trying to save Bella from himself. This is not an orthodox story and it is not for everyone, Savage has taken a lot of flack from readers and authors in her reviews. BUT, if you read her stories you know she writes a Darkward. He tries to redeem himself and really tries to do the right thing. She has disclaimers in her opening A/N notes and throughout the story. I personally love it, and I don’t think she is making light of anything.

It is a great story, well written with great characters, very OCC . I love the personalities, and traits she has given them. I like the journey that Edward has taken within himself and something’s he have realized and some he has not quite realized yet. Bella, is truly amazing, she hold her head up as best as she can for the situation. I think she has come to care for Edward in the best way she knows how, and wants to take care of him. Yes, he bought her with one thing in mind and has done a complete 180 since.

Check it out it is not all about sex, and smut….It is about doing something wrong and trying to make it right, realizing you may not be as bad of a persona as you thought. Realizing that deep down you are a good person, and can change. Great job Shay….I love it!

This is Not My Life by Isakasees

Follow Bella as she tries to survive a madman's abduction and keep a stranger's child from succumbing to his wild fantasies, and follow Edward as he tries to stay sane searching for his daughter taken right before his eyes.Twilight - Rated: M

Review for This is Not My Life by ButterflyBetty Cullen

It's every parents worst nightmare. One minute your child is standing next to you and the next they are gone. In Isakasees' 'This is Not My Life,' Edward finds himself in this very position when his little girl, Lily is snatched from his fingertips but a mad man. Not only does Lily get taken but so does a complete stranger, Bella, who vows to do whatever she can to keep Lily safe from the delusional kidnapper.

When I first started reading This is Not My Life, I was skeptical. Mostly because I had heard so many great things about this story and I was convinced that I would be disappointed. However, I wasn't. Quite the opposite, in fact. From the first page, I found myself completely enthralled in the story of Edward, Lily, and Bella. One moment that tied these three together for a lifetime. Isakasees does an amazing job of evoking the strongest emotions and fears in the heart of her readers, pulling them into the story as if Lily was our very own. If you haven't read this truly exceptional story, I highly suggest you don't waste anymore time and read it now. You will not be disappointed.

Undefined Affair by jayhawkbb

Bella, recovering from a broken heart, meets Edward, who isolates himself emotionally. Their attraction is immediate, but can they be friends and lovers - without the love? BxE, all the regs, some drama, some funny, lemony, language AH
Twilight - Rated: M

An Undefined Affair Review by LaMomo, author of Business Class Girl and TLS 5-Star resident reviewer

Edward works as an executive at Hale Software. They need a new PR campaign.
Emmett, Jasper and Bella run a PR company. They are great friends, and Bella's been their sidekick forever. Or are they Bella's sidekicks? Jury still out on that.

Still, the implacable market laws impose that offer must meet demand, which make Hale Software an ideal (and high end) client for our guys (and lady).
They snatch the account, but sparks fly between Edward and Bella.

Neither of them is in a good place at the moment to act on those sparks. Edward doesn't want to be emotionally invested in a relationship. Bella is recovery from a nasty break-up.
But those sparks...won't go away, and they haunt them through their board meetings, dinner meetings, all kinds of meetings.

They keep up a constant banter that's light-hearted, but charged with an increasingly unbearable UST.
Until Ned and Stella give up. And cave in.

Question from the unsuspecting reader: "Who in heck are Ned and Stella?"
Oh. Right. Ned and Stella. Edward and Bella. Because of course Edward can't bear to be nicknamed. And he hates to be called Eddie. So Bella calls him Ned instead to annoy him. And Edward calls her Stella, to annoy her in turn.

This one-upping each other escalates till they wave a tangled web - of their naked limbs, first.
Of their growing feelings, later.  Growing, unsuspecting feelings - because let's face, living in Denial is more fun, and it happens to be rent- and stress- free.

Until Reality calls, in the form of Jack Hale, Edward's boss, who is big on non-fraternization policies. An hypocritical asshole? Maybe. A cold shower for Ned and Stella? Certainly.
They were well aware of the ramifications, and embarked on this "arrangement" all the same.
They hid under the invisibility cloak of comfort sex and of their own, lust-filled bubble.
Until....until one of them reaches their breaking point, because everything they knew till that day suddenly is wrong. Making it right requires a big leap of faith, but this leap of faith will tear their lives apart.

Can they survive this? They jury is still out on this one as well.
Stella is not alone. She has her sidekicks to knock some sense into her.
Who will knock some sense into Ned's thick skull?

This fic is yet another gem - beautifully written, with easy banter, great character, super-hot sex, and a very fascinating Edward (Edward addict over here, please!). The bond between Bella, Jasper and Emmett is a thing of beauty, with their mutual respect, friendship, love and camaraderie.

Its plot starts from a well-known tenet of the fanfic clichés, that is "we can have sex without having a relationship and everything will be fine", but its evolution is as far from clichéd as it could be. Its development is honest, realistic and gut-wrenching (at times). There will be (there still are) times when you will want to punch Ned and times where you will want to punch Stella, but you will always understand why and will be able to sympathise. After you've sympathised, you'll probably feel the need to have a few choice words with Ned anyway, like for example a resounding "WHY???".

We are now at a momentous turning point in the plot, aka when the story finally reaches the scene portrayed in the prologue. Do yourselves a favour, go and read this prologue, and then catch up. Because up next you will need to be fully prepared...for a showdown!
